Bobby G Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I think there is something to the Eidur story. But I think its dependent upon Benni leaving.

Hughesy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 we can offer moses first team football which he won't get at citeh,if we can't raise 5 million we might as well join the fizzy pop now sam We can offer him probably £25k a week tops (given his age) City could double that with ease!
unluckymorton Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 N'Zonzi for £4m? Brilliant. Keep it up. Maybe i'm been unfair, but I'd be bleeding furious if we spent £4m on N'Zonzi. It just show's how different peoples opinions can be. I think N'Zonzi is doing really well, working really hard for the team and is an excellent addition to the squad with a bright future ahead of him. An decent average squad player costs around £4m these day's, if you want somebody to set the world on fire you've to spend a minimum of £18m-£20m. Now £4m for Grella was bad business. I've no doubt he's talented but who did we get to carry out his medical???
Backroom Tom Posted January 11, 2010 Backroom Posted January 11, 2010 Put it this way did Fulham not offer £2m for andrews in the summer?

You wanna pay £5m for a kid who's scored 5 professional goals in his career? The figure of £5m has, surprise surprise, come from his agent (who is our old favourite passer back of the ball Tony Finnigan) and not bid by any clubs. You also think that if we can't raise £5m we should give up and just get relegated? You really do have no idea. We are on a very limited budget, partly due to making football affordable for us fans to go week in week out so the least we can do is support the manager and the boards decisions. We can't offer Moses 1st team football because we can't even offer Benni that, and we couldn't offer it to Derbs so how can we all of a sudden offer it to a 17yr old kid? Teams who are interested in him are teams looking planning ahead and if we signed him for £5m it would be £5m wasted as he won't be ready for the prem yet. Put it this way did Fulham not offer £2m for andrews in the summer? Was that not just paper talk? I mean, if it was a firm offer the club would have snapped their hands off right?

unluckymorton Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 think klanic O.k then that means we can blow another £5m on one for the future. Kalanic was brought in to adjust and slowly break into the squad. We're not in the position to spend another £5m on another striker to do the same with.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Yes he is. Someone mentioned that he had 'only' scored 5 goals this season. I dont think thats too bad at all really. People should probably check who they're outraged about before they comment.
Hughesy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 think klanic Kalinic was probably 6 months shy of the premier stage - Moses is probably 2-3 years. Think 4 goals so far this season despite limited pitch time - think Moses who plays every game has 5. 1 fact remains - the 1 that matters most. City could afford to pay him double what we could....if not more!

bluebruce Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 not all footballers are interested in money Are you kidding? Yes, yes they are. Even Friedel was swayed by it, after having already earned a fair bit. Regarding N'zonzi for four million...we'd be damned idiots to sell the kid at that price. Has at least ten good years in him, where he will improve. That would average out at 400k a season, or about a quarter of Pedersen's wage probably. Comparing his purchase to buying a League One midfielder isn't accurate either. Try Championship midfielder with England U-21 caps. Which would probably run you up at least a couple of million over here. So yes, the French market is much cheaper.
sparkspakespoke Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Its got to be worth a try for a player like Moses. I dont think he is that far away from being ready for the Prem, seen him a few times now for Palace and he is a good player. People on here have been going on about about making a offer for Johnson from Middlesbrough who has every team going interested in him including Chelsea and Man United, surely if people think we have a chance of getting him then we have an even bigger chance of getting Mosses?
Blue n White Rover Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Kalinic has only scored three goals. He's scored 5!!! 1 VS Peterborough 1 VS United that was disallowed but we still have to count it right? 2 VS Chelsea because he started celebrating it and it must have touched one strand of hair. 1 VS Villa
waggy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Are you kidding? Yes, yes they are. Even Friedel was swayed by it, after having already earned a fair bit. well i know joe garner, when he left rovers he was offered double the money to join dundee utd than carlilse, which one did he join

My point is about spending £5m on a player who I don't think is ready for the Prem.

Backroom DE. Posted January 11, 2010 Backroom Posted January 11, 2010 The level of the Championship is far enough below the Premiership that asking any player to make the step up - particularly a 17 year old lad - is quite a risk.
unluckymorton Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 good job your judgement counts for nowt then It counts for more than your's as I'm a fully paid up season ticket holder and have been since I was a kid and you used Sam as an excuse to give up going.

We all know cup goals count for two, so he's got 9 goals really, one more and he's on 15 thanks to the 'Add 50%' that applies once double figures are reached.
Gav Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 It counts for more than your's as I'm a fully paid up season ticket holder and have been since I was a kid and you used Sam as an excuse to give up going. You can say he talks cr@p morton but you can't question his loyalty to the club. He’s probably forgotten more games than you've attended.

sparkspakespoke Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Penalties count triple don't they? And the goals he almost scored, you are forgeting the disalowed one agaisnt United and the goal against Chelsea that wasnt his but almost was so we'll give it to him anyway. So thats two more. I know we have counted them already but they were so close to being goals I think even more skill was shown than if they had been goals.
