Try reading the Telegraph articles on the Raos they are billionaires, bloke researched them for a month.

Not the Telegraph, did the Mail freelance writer ever go to India (click on the urls of his snaps), and nobody in finance whom I have been in contact with thinks they are billionaires. The articles are flatly wrong in that they do use debt (heavily in the case of Venky's India) and they do involve third parties- either that or the several sets of accounts Mrs Desai has signed are wrong. Most importantly, there is very little evidence of free cash which is what you need by the tens of millions to be real Premier League players.

I am posting this so people don't get disappointed. I am also very worried by what I can see of Rovers financial situation going forwards.

I am genuinely delighted that Formica is at Brockhall (unlike Nico who seems to be two time zones removed from us at the moment) and see this as an unexpected bonus after it looked like we had messed up.

I reckon he was looking at the wrong Raos

Why do you keep arguing with the invisible man? That is unless that was aimed at me when I said they were skint in PL terms and that we had the second poorest owners in the league.

I've yet to see anything that shows that to be wrong, how much are we buying Formica and Rochina for by the way (I assume you know seeing as it's proof they are loaded).

So far we have spent £0 on transfers, Roch is apparently £1m and Formica was due to go to Monaco for £2m so if we get both of them we'd have spent the massive amount of £3m, WOW!!!

That's not to say I'm not welcoming these signings although it is worrying that people are getting excited over what people have read on football manager and what they've seen on Youtube.

But when the likes of Villa are throwing £18m at Darren Bent, your roll eyes are a bit silly really.

Please don't flatter yourself.

I've yet to see any evidence we are the 2nd poorest team in the PL, only some link to a Wiki page, which incidently is about as reliable as Tribal Football as a source of information.

Was Ronaldinho ever on. I think that Venkeys tried to hi-jack a deal already done to go to Brazil. It was doomed to failure as he is winding down his career in his homeland. The Adam saga will carry on and on.

Ronaldinho was talking to Fluminense at the time the Rovers interest came to light.

He signed for Flamengo in the end.

So who was hi-jacking who?

Adam to Rovers went out of the door when Liverpool came onto the scene...but who knows what the future brings.

I suppose people will believe what they want to believe.

True Blue- I don't see QPR splashing the cash are they owned by billionaires, likewise Stoke are spending cash all over the place and their owner is not a billionaire either.

I am satisfied that the Raos have enough money to develop Rovers and enable us to grow. They give millions in pounds to charity every year have millions of pounds worth of cars but are worth a few millions...ok, we'll all have to wait and see I suppose.

Still, it's more reliable than your hunch that they are secret billionaires that have managed to go completely unnoticed by Forbes.

Which by the way had changed to 600 million now!

So a newspaper who researched the Raos for a month in India, looked at documents, spoke to workers etc is not as reliable as the fact that they are not mentioned by Forbes. I'm sure Phillip has said before he knows people who are minted but are not mentioned anywhere, if you don't want people to know your true wealth they won't.

Very true..

QPR is a bit of smokescreen, they are owned by a collection of Billionaires none of whom own a majority share. Also they are in the Championship so wouldn't attract mega-money signings anyway.

Your Stoke comment is about how much an owner is prepared to spend of their total wealth so not really the same issue I'm discucssing. If anything it helps my case as it shows spening money doesn't mean you are mega-rich which is what Valois is suggesting.

They don't have millions of pounds worth of cars. Besides JK owns better cars than they do but he aint a billionaire.

Yes, it's that simple. Firstly the bit in bold you have guessed, secondly the Daily Mail are only there to produce various news stories each day, Mr Harris was given a job, he did it and is now writing about other things. Forbes only role is to investigate people's wealth, they are specialists.

It's like seeing an article in the Mail about science and beliving that over a a group of top scientists.

...if you don't want people to know your true wealth they won't.

Because Venky's are shy, yeah right!

1. If QPR spent more money then they would get the players but they are choosing not to spend their money- they are billionaire but have spent a pittance, you can justify an excuse to explain their lack of spending BUT when the Raos are doing the sensible thing (IMO) by not over spending in January a time which is proven to over inflate prices then they have not got any money?

2. They have 70+ top of the range cars, watch the sky sports footage, "including a Rolls-Royce, a Bentley and a new customised £100,000 Hummer."

JW does not own a multi national corporation now does he? Point being made was that they have a lavish lifestyle and can only do that if they had the necessary funds, but I am sure they have a taken a loan for the cars

EDIT- sorry everyone Ill stop, link:

Ah that will be because they are so shy and don't want anyone knowing their business.....na! If they had serious money the whole world would know about it as they can't keep their mouths shut for more than 5 minutes.

Anyway, back on to transfer talk please guys. Anymore off topic chat will be removed.

I'm not critising the spending plan, I'm not angry we've not thrown £10m at a top player. I was just reacting (more fool me) to this cheeky stab at me (so blame Valouis for bringing this subject up again ^_^ ).....

I'm just wondering how all this is been funded if Venkys have no money

And it seems you agree with me, what we've done so far isn't a proof of big funds which is all I'm saying. Some people on here are desperate to prove what they've been claiming (Indian Billionaires from a long line of wealth) and it just annoys me a little when they start claiming a couple of £1m/£2m signings is proof I was wrong (followed by roll eyes).

2. They have 70+ top of the range cars, watch the sky sports footage, "including a Rolls-Royce, a Bentley and a new customised £100,000 Hummer."

and he is far from being a billionaire.

So could Venkys, more worringly they could have taken out a loan to buy us.

I'll STFU now...that is until Hughsey or Valouis come out with another "proof" the Raos are minted because we bought some unknown teenager from Mexico.

EDIT: just saw that modes after I submitted, I will shut up now

Oh for the love of all good things, here we go again with are they billionaires or not. Lets face it, what we doing at the moment is spot on. Long term, we might have to invest more money, but short term(to the end of the season), its vital we survive and stay up. If we chuck millions on average players, just for the sake of making the fans happy, then we are in serious trouble.

There are loads of good players, with good contacts and scouts, where we can be competitive, without breaking the bank. We have 4 lads, Jones, Olsson, Hoilett and Hanley, who have come through the ranks. Why do we need a new team, when we might only need 1 or 2 quality players, to help and push us forward with the youngsters we have at present. Why are people so obsessed, about signing a player for big money? Have we not seen, what has happened to smaller teams, who have spent big? One mistake, sign a player for big money, get relegated, and you screwed. The current plan this transfer window is spot on, and it allows us to be flexible in the summer, without having to go into the new season with players who we no longer want. Why dont we try now, and if we like, we buy later(terms and conditions apply) relax a bit, and just be happy that we at least signing players.
