LeChuck Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Peders needs to come on for Dunn and Hoilett needs to switch to the right and push Enrique back with his pace. That would certainly give us proper shape, so I'd agree with that. I'd ask one of Kalinic or Santa Cruz to drop deeper and link the play. Probably Kalinic.

philipl Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Have a horrible feeling about this one. All the good work that has gone in on our defending seems to be slipping away and the midfield seems to have no clue about how they are going to combat the Sam signings in the Newcastle side.
deftangel Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Good shout Rover down Under, exactly the changes I'd make. It would help out Salgado immensely and give the barcodes something to think about. I would imagine that was most people's starting midfield but it hasn't worked out.
OsloRover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 No shape. No central midfield. No protection on our right. Very poor. Only one side look like winning this. Needs to give us some shape asap. Exactly right. Jones and Nzonzi are too defensive to work together in a 4-4-2. Would bring on Pedersen replacing Zonz and Emerton replacing Dunn. Looking allright up top but the ball doesn't get there often enough. Also, Salgado and Olsson having poor games so far. Santa and Hoilett off for Roberts and MGP. Huh.
LeChuck Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Roberts for Santa Cruz and Pedersen for Hoilett? I can't see how that solves any of our problems. All seems like for like, so no shape change.
sambo Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Those substitutions are astounding. Shocking. Hoilett was one of our better players
deftangel Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I am not getting the thinking behind those changes.
Eddie Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 No he wasn't. Are you actually watching the game? Hoilett wasn't in that at all.
BRFC1995 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Roberts for Santa Cruz and Pedersen for Hoilett? I can't see how that solves any of our problems. All seems like for like, so no shape change. Maybe he wants the sack?
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Shocked that Hoilett has gone off...
philipl Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Has Kean made a sub that makes any sense yet?
novella Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hoillet tweaked his hamstring right on half time.
sambo Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 No he wasn't. Are you actually watching the game? Hoilett wasn't in that at all. Yes. The issue was the general balance of our team, he was no worse than our other midfielders. We needed Hoilett on the right, and MGP to come on and play on the left. Now we still have the issue of no right midfielder, and no real protection for the poor Salgado against the in form Jose Enrique.
Hekla Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I don't understand Kean's thinking at all, very strange.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Salgado all over the place and hasn't looked great in recent games as well. Starting to show his age?
Helmshore blue Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hoilett was injured, holding hamstring as he walked off
sambo Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Salgado all over the place and hasn't looked great in recent games as well. Starting to show his age? I'd have to agree, believe that new contract was premature. Love the guy but he is a serious weak link, and teams are targeting him.
OsloRover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Can understand why we brought Roberts on since the ref doesn't know what fouls are.
deftangel Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hoillet wasn't having a brilliant game but neither was Ollson . Moving Junior to the right would have helped out Salgado, even if he's having an off day. Santa Cruz was an inch away from scoring.
Eddie Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Salgado has to go off, he has been simply terrible. Fantastic Robinson save.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 All of Newcastle's attacks now coming down their left (our right). Great save by Robbo! Only one side look like scoring and that's Newcastle.
