Clitherover Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I suppose a draw would be the best possible outcome in the Wolves, Wigan game. Have a feeling today is the day Bolton turn it around at Stoke also.

Doug Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Wolves look shocking, Wigan are like Rovers in some ways, good going forward, not quite as good at the back. How do we see Wolves situation.. I like McCarthy as a character but the Wolves fans were screaming 'you don't know what you're doing' and getting on his back only a fortnight or so ago and the mood was darkening prior to the goal just now.

I agree, Wigan do remind me of Rovers in many ways. We play better stuff than Wigan, though, IMO. Defensively we're better too (in terms of players). If any club is going to finish below us this year it'll be Wigan, unless Whelan decides to sack Martinez and get a manager in who plays Allardyce-style football to scrape enough points to survive.

Probably right , the fear is they sack Martinez and get a street fighter in .... Mark Hughes may go to Wigan ? That would put the cat among the pigeons ..
Stuart Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 2-1 Wolves. Desparate shame for Al Habsi - amazing double save - couldn't make it three.
Stuart Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 3-1 Wolves. Al Habsi can't catch a break. His defenders are useless. 5 points adrift now. Hope Wigan are as poor next week - doubt it somehow...
modes98 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 2-1 Wolves. Desparate shame for Al Habsi - amazing double save - couldn't make it three. The man's on fire. He has saved 4 or 5 certain goals. That one off the line on the second goal was incredible.
Stuart Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Al Habsi does NOT deserve to be on the losing side today. Absolutely incredible save just now. MOTM for Wigan by a country mile.
Waggy76 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Having watched the last 20 mins of Wolves v Wigan , I think Mr Whelan will sack Martinez before the game with Rovers ....A new manager in ,will make it harder cos who ever it is ,will have more tactical nous than our clown ...
philipl Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 al Habsi producing one of the performances of the season despite being 3-1 down. Meantime the PL table looks ever sicker for Rovers. 17 Everton 10 -4 10 18 Blackburn 11 -11 6
Backroom DE. Posted November 6, 2011 Backroom Posted November 6, 2011 Martinez is a good person, but he should have taken the Villa job when offered. His style of football will only ever have limited success at a team like Wigan. They just don't have the personnel or the money to play like Martinez wants them to play and be consistantly successful. Them and us are almost dead certs to fill 2 of the relegation spots, but who gets the other one? My bet is on one of the promoted teams... QPR, perhaps. Could be Swansea or Norwich if either goes on a Hull/Blackpool/Burnley-esque horror-run of form. I think Wolves will be okay, they've got a goodun in Mick McCarthy and a good enough squad to keep them up.

Meantime the PL table looks ever sicker for Rovers. 17 Everton 10 -4 10 18 Blackburn 11 -11 6 A touch misleading Philip, pointing out Everton's game in hand. Fulham too have a game in hand on 10 points but Sunderland have the same games as us on 10 points. Still grim reading mind.
Backroom Tom Posted November 6, 2011 Backroom Posted November 6, 2011 Wigan away is a Ridiculously big game now as if it wasn't anyway
Backroom DE. Posted November 6, 2011 Backroom Posted November 6, 2011 Bolton 2-0 Stoke... it gets worse.
Bluefudge Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Just goes to show, If we had drawn both the Wolves and Everton games we would all be still in a bunch. As it stands now we have to win 2 on the bounce just to get out.
Stuart Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Finished 5-0. That's how you turn a corner. Stoke are no mugs either.
chris Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 ~Blackburn are proper adrift now, thats a big gap for this time of the season.
ihtd Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Great win for Bolton today, Stoke are not mugs (midweek away game in Europe or not). Even with a 5-0 win they are still in the relegation zone but they've proven that they can win and win big today. If anything today's results have made the next game away at Wigan even more important for us. Fulham look good (second half) against Spurs, could easily be 2-2 at present instead of 1-2.
Backroom DE. Posted November 6, 2011 Backroom Posted November 6, 2011 Fulham/Spurs match very similar to when we played Spurs. Deserved a draw but couldn't find the net. Good for us that Fulham drew (or would be if we had any chance of staying up).
Bluefudge Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Don't look at the table..... Really not worth it, go and spend time with your families......
