Hasta Posted Tuesday at 13:03 Posted Tuesday at 13:03 (edited) This has been such a poor season for Rovers, with our position and future so precariously balanced, that I can't even find any enjoyment in Jelly and Ice Cream at the moment. Edited Tuesday at 13:03 by Hasta 4 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted Wednesday at 10:13 Posted Wednesday at 10:13 According to the BBC in last nights Arsenal v Chelsea game every time Arsenal were preparing to take a corner Chelsea sent three players down field to prevent Arsenal packing the penalty area. It’s being hailed as a coaching master stroke ! 1 Quote

It's a pet hate of mine leaving no-one up at corners. So negative and just guarantees you're going to give the ball straight back or at best win a throw deep in your own half but keep yourself under pressure. 4 Quote

I'll have us in the automatics in January before I quit in February for a real club and then I can go on to revolutionise the game by managing numerous successful teams with the basic philosophy of being solid at the back and attacking with width and two up front. 1 Quote

Would you go so far as to choose your ‘keeper based on his shot stopping/dealing with crosses abilities? 3 Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted Wednesday at 21:10 Posted Wednesday at 21:10 2 centre forwards who both know where the back of the net is Leave 2 up front at corners Genuine wingers who can cross a ball and beat a man with a bit of skill Players in general who can beat a man with a bit of skill as opposed to simply outpacing them. Something a bit more creative than simply "over-loading" ie. just trying to get 2 players on one Players with a bit of technique who can hit the back of the net as opposed to row Z if they try a shot from 25 yards. Defenders who think their primary job is to keep the ball out of their net and not try and be Michel Platini Never ever give a goal away pissing about with the ball in your defensive third of the pitch. Keepers who have re - learnt the long lost arts of narrowing down angles, catching the ball instead of punching it and thereby not giving it straight back to the opposition and commanding their 6 yard area. And above all realising they're also there to stop the ball going in the back of the net, not to try and be Lionel Messi. Stupid I know. Will never catch on. 3 Quote

I'm sorry but you are talking absolute shit here. Especially with this nonsense about beating your man with skill. This is just not how the game is supposed to be played. Get with the times FFS. I know - they might "turn over possession" deep in the opposition half or something. Just think of the damage that could do to those possession stats. Obviously far more of a cardinal sin than pissing about in your own penalty area and giving a completely needless goal away. As long as you tried to play it out "the right way" that's all that matters! Quote

About 20 years ago I had a pal who managed a girls team. He had no scrutiny as the team was just getting started so he was able to get away with doing his own thing. Without fail he'd leave 4 players up front on opposition corners. It confused the life out of the other managers. I doubt that Prem teams would do that as players like van Dijk and Gabriel would thrive with plenty of space to run into, but it's an option. Quote

But that leaves space for the keeper to come out unimpeded to claim the cross. Quote

I thought their plan was to yo-yo between leagues and pocket all the TV & parachute money.... but they've actually spunked a lot on players. Quote
Gav Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The dingle owner has tonight slagged off the fans and the town is in meltdown. The charity shop windows have gone through and pendleside Hospice has been looted again. Every cloud……Watch this space for further updates. Quote
