Didn't the accounts get signed off because there was enough guaranteed income for about 12 months ? It also said large owner support would be required to keep trading beyond that ! There's goin to have to be a player or two sold pretty soon i'd wager. Edited 23 hours ago by Tomphil2 1 Quote

Travis or Brittain, maybe Tronstad, could feasibly attract something like that. Carter maybe, he was once touted as being worth about 8 mill, but I think his stock has tanked with injuries and loss of form. There is no golden goose anymore since Szmodics and Wharton. 1 Quote

Don't disagree, though tbf no-one considered Szmodics as a golden goose until 6 months before we sold him. You never quite know what's around the corner. Quote

Wouldn't be shocked to see a Tom Cairney style sale appearing overnight in desperate need of a few million to pay a bill. Brittain would fit that kind of mould, couple of million up top and some add ons. 4 Quote

Once they've exhausted these, then what next? The Academy? Ewood itself? Sooner or later, the owners are going to have to stump up some cash, impediment or not. Otherwise, boom.... 6 Quote

Flog Brittain, Travis or Tronstad to a Middlesbrough or West Brom for a couple of million to pay the lekky bills until August. 2 Quote

That's not to say they ever actually funded the club properly, they just had no problems with spaffing 15m on losses that could have easily been avoided by just running the club properly. When the investigation started in 2021 we saw an end to the lucrative contracts being handed out left right and centre (with lots of juicy commissions for agents) and saw a move to allowing contracts to expire when they became too expensive and the fire sale of everything that isn't nailed down. The downgrade of the women's team is the latest of these actions. Although I don't believe that the financial element was 100% the reason for them buying the club in the first place, I'd hazard a guess and say it was a big part of their reason for the purchase. The othere three venktards would have needed to see some benefit to the purchase beyond fat baz wanting a new thing to flex in public. I'd say an overseas business woth turnover in the millions that can make huge losses without drawing much if any scrutiny could be deemed quite handy to a multi billion pound corporation looking to skirt some rules on regulations. It certainly draws a lot less scrutiny, when not in the premier league. Funny how they couldn’t wait to relegate us and then ensure they firebomb any attempt to get promoted, each time it looks like it might happen. 3 Quote

Which I believe they always will do when it becomes a complete last resort. This lot are never giving any power to anyone else, administrators etc. 5 Quote
Mattyblue Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago All rational thought says this can’t go on, indeed it wouldn’t anywhere else. So I get why folk think we’ve reached some kind of end game - ‘once the Sammie and Wharton money has gone’ ‘they’ll be gone in 12 months’ etc. Alas they won’t have. We’ve somehow stumbled across the most intransigent set of owners in football. I rue the day the Walkers sold this club and Jack down the river, all for a relative pittance. 2 Quote
JHRover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Which is why there is a good argument to say that the chaos that unfolded at Bolton, Derby, Reading etc. is a preferable and better outcome than what we are enduring here. Yes fine Venkys have ensured that the bills have been paid and we've avoided administration and all that comes with it. I'm not sure I'd consider that a badge of honour on their part considering where we were when they rocked up but hey ho. But those other clubs have suffered short, sharp shocks, changed ownership and cleared the decks and rebuilt and renewed. Give me that and some future optimism and trust between ownership and fans over the hell they continue to subject us to here, nearly 15 years in. 4 Quote
