Just what am I guessing?

iMO, Rovers p1ss about with negotiations and show little nous or imagination.

With Batth, he's had an outstanding season, been a huge influence on the team and played almost 40 games.  He's still only 34 (Kevin Moran played in the PL with us till he was 38 and Tony Gale won a PL medal with us at the age of 35/36 - both centre backs).

For me, starting point should have been a substantial increase in basic given he joined on relatively low wages, a heavily linked appearance based bonus and a 2nd year option. Think there's a very good chance he would have snapped that up if put on the table early doors.

Not as precious about Weimann but a similar type of deal to Batth's without the 2nd year option .

IMO, there is neither nous nor gravitas at Ewood Park, just a clueless, amateurish shamble

Do you do anything other than parrotting the club line!?

And there’s the guesswork - how do you know that hasn’t been offered? How do you know batth just point blank wants 2 guaranteed years of financial security before he retires? Not just possibility with options etc

guessing…now I fully agree this ownership and club are a shambles but I’m certainly not overly mad at the fact they are holding tight on offering a soon to be 35 year old a two year contract

now if it comes out that he accepts a derby deal one year rolling with options then yes il retract but it’s all guesswork at the moment all we know from any source is he wants two more years

Bad understanding of the English dictionary.

He's not going to hit the ground running is he.

Maybe they'll loan Kargbo out for 6 months.

I hope not I think he could potentially embed himself in the squad. He's new to the championship still I think he can scare some defenders if he applies himself better

I don't know for sure what's been offered to Batth but based on what we've seen operationally over the years, I would think it's a relatively poor deal.

When Broughton was here and discussions were ongoing with Dolan about a new contract, I was told, by someone who would know, what the opening offer was.  Notwithstanding the fact that is was an opening offer and negotiations move the goal posts for both parties, I was taken aback by, IMO, the relative paucity of the offer.

There have been postings on here about Waggott allegedly adversely moving the goal posts on offers once made.

A leopard doesn't change its spots and I have neither trust in nor respect for our regime.

Rovers' recent history suggests to me neither Batth nor Weimann were made decent competitive offers irrespective of any 2nd year issues.  If you can't tie down players already in the building then I think as a club we have huge problems.

Do we read that as he wants out of this shitshow?

Flip him for a profit is Suhail's dream, consequences be damned

They sat him on the bench behind Calamity for most of the year, of course he wants out.

Getting increasingly worried about this summer.

Feels like the club are feeding info that they have ambition (see French CB) that we were never ever signing.

Optimism around Batth signing a new contract (not happening)

Travis and Tronstad linked away.

7 signings + leavers needed.

So currently with Andi Weiman and Batth leaving that's 9 signings needed, that are able to make an immediate impact?

This Belgian won't be an immediate enigma.

So still require 9 signings of real quality.

We are on our way to relegation at this point.

Alarm bells didn't ring for you when Eustace walked? They didn't blare louder when you heard Gestede speak publicly?

Don’t disagree with anything you said but as it stands my response to you saying that’s guesswork is correct

1 Year for Batth, with the option of an extra year.

Be crazy if we haven't thought about or even done that.

So, I suspect we haven't.

An option in who's favour? The club's? May as well be a 1 year deal then.

According to your mate Nixon they were willing to meet that criteria.

Sounds like Rovers have offered good money but only 1 year which again is a bit stupid considering he wants to stay here. His dilemma might be more money here for another year or less at Derby but a 2 year deal.

If our lot can't find some middle ground to keep last seasons best defender they've weakened the team again before even losing anyone else.

He is a priority signing not an afterthought just because he's 34.

I can guarantee Derby haven't offered Batth a two year deal (yet) because he'd be holding up a white shirt already.

Who does a 2 year deal harm, exactly?

Let's say he's brilliant again next year, but the year after his legs completely go (unlikely). He'd still be a very useful bench player and personality to have around the squad (he seems incredibly professional).

They were willing to keep McFadzean on as essentially a player / coach. Why not Batth? We apparently have 2 or 3 really promising young CBs on the books, they could learn a lot from him.

Who it harms I’m not sure all Iv said is that I’m not totally against them being reluctant in handing a 35 year old a two year deal - as like anyone on here it’s a personal opinion.
Of all the madness and low balling and crap they have put us through and continue to put us through this would fall at the bottom of my list

would I like batth to stay yes of course but merely saying if it’s a 2 year deal or nothing scenario with him then I’m fine with them moving on

Batth will be a colossal miss.

Hyam is useless without someone extremely steady alongside him.

Not too bothered about Weimann but of course if we lose him and Dolan then that's 14 goals missing from a forward line that was never exactly prolific in the first place.

Grim times.

Exactly.

Hyam and Carter together are ball watching liabilities at times and Mcfadzean steadied it all down when he played albeit in a deep well protected Eustace system.

Why can't they do with Batth what they did with him ?

Give him the contract and get another good year out of him whilst buying enough time to find or bring through a natural younger replacement. Then in the second year his role might be reduced but he's great back up and on the training ground/dressing room.

If there is interest elsewhere and he's not being used then release him, happy days for everyone and the kind of sense Eustace operated with.

You can't guarantee anything because the guy has already stated he wants to stay here and according to font of truth Nixon Rovers have made him a decent offer but it's only a year.

He wants two and according to Nixon Derby would match that but he didn't say if the terms were better or not.

End of the day it might come down to Batth deciding if he stays here another year for a decent wage or gambles for lesser money but more security down there.  Football wise though he'd be mad to leave here where he's almost guaranteed to be first choice as the season begins.

Sometimes it can be as simple as they want to go on holiday and mull it over.

He'd start at 2/3rds of the clubs in this league without even blinking.

It’s funny how this has all come full circle in 1 year. Many poster on here actually the majority of posters on here were sceptical of his signing last season said he was past it his injury record was a concern couldn’t get on for Norwich and was done. Now there’s an uproar he can’t get a two year contract (some of the same posters too) brilliant

Norwich must be in the 1/3 then, must be a fair old queue for his signature now.
