Im guessing we will have a very quiet week this week with everyone (presumably) away in Spain.

We dont seem to have been linked to very many attacking players and those we have have seemingly been bogus. Hopefully we can get some in before the season starts. Hard to not see Hedges starting the season and probably lingering indefinitely.

Based on the selections for the first 2 friendlies, it feels like many of the places are locked down in terms of building for West Brom. De Neve, Ribeiro and  Ohashi over Kargbo, Pickering and Gueye. Only question mark is perhaps between Wharton and McLoughlin. The latter has had some pre season minutes too.

I think you might read too much into the friendly selections tbh. Certainly in previous seasons they haven't always reflected who is first choice.

Sadly it looks like he is just one of the players cursed by recurring injuries.  Wharton is a bit of a worry for me too.

McLoughlin didnt score a single goal for Hull in 6 years. He scored more for us in a Hull shirt than for Hull. Quite a surprise considering his height.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, Personally i just think Tronstad is pretty ordinary and nowhere near as good as he's cracked up to be. I know most people think differently.

You can't have the argument both ways though. I dont think the fact Dolan hasnt chosen his new Club after 21 days is any particular reflection on his ability either.

We are all well aware of your opinion on Tronstadt, you never miss anchance to remind us all of that .  The glaring difference which seems to have no besring on your opinion Rev is Tronstandt is here and not being shopped around by an agent.  He's not a glamour boy for sure but he's solid.  Did we replace your fave player with him or something?  Reminds me a.lot of how you were with the full back whose name escapes me Curtis was it?  The one you favoured.

I’m not. He’s on hefty wages and did not perform under Eustace while they both were here.

Im reading it as 2 or 3 others, plus now an extra centre back due to Carters injury, so 3 or 4 in total (barring departures or more injuries)

Imagine one will be another CB who can also cover at RB like that Miller from Hibs.

A right winger and a centre forward would be my other two, but Baradji is still there lingering in the back ground.

Obviously we will need more when Brittain or Trav or even both leave. I just don't see at least one of them being here by the time the window closes.

But lets say nobody else leaves, and we don't include Garrett/Leonard as they haven't featured yet, then I make it that there is currently 3 squad places left of the 25 that need to be registered. That's presuming we use Michelski as third choice keeper.

Yep, a mixture of Elliott Jackson's journalism and Ismael's English make it ambigious.

We need more than 2 or 3. If it is 2 or 3 then we shouldnt sign another central midfielder.

Personally I think there is a need for a No10 as any injury to Cantwell will leave us short. Unless Tyjon is viewed as good enough to step up on a regular basis. Not seen him play but seems a big ask of a 17yo. I suppose Ohashi could play there but to me he’s better as a striker.

We probably also need another striker and a RM/RW. 

Just shows how valuable Dolan was cos he could fill every position in the front 4.

Agreed. Also with Tyjon, if Cantwell misses a few games, even if they think Tyjon is ready ability wise, we have no idea if his body could sustain playing consecutive games at this level. I think I am right in saying hes had injury problems at under 21 level.

With regards to Tyjon if we are keeping him we need to give him a chance and see what he is like

i get the caution regarding his age but if your good enough your age shouldn’t really matter

But the issue is, we cant possibly know if he is good enough yet at this level but moreso, is his body capable of playing regular, consecutive games in senior football as it likely will have to.
