So if that's the case - what's in it for Venky's - nothing whatsoever seemingly other than the opportunity to run up a mountain of debt secured against their assets.

Yeah that seems to be the only thing that fits. Everything about how this club runs itself is bizarre...

Sell, sell, sell every saleable asset. Sell your top scorer, the captain, the training ground, all at cut price. Generate millions in sales. Don't ever reinvest proceeds so you have more assets to sell, just keep selling. Don't offer reasonable contracts. Don't spend more in the hopes of attaining PL payoff (despite repeatedly missing it by a fraction). Just don't reinvest, this is important.

Get manager in. Win them over with talk of 'the project'. Don't keep to the plan. Make false promises. Make bizarre statements in the press showing complete lack of inter-departmental communication. Deliberately antagonise said manager (especially if club seems to be doing alright). Persuade them to leave to another club (usually of lesser standing) out of seeming despair. Get new manager in. Rinse repeat, this is important.

Run club into the ground. Allow agents to take massive cuts. Allow spurious foreign court cases to be used to justify poor running of club, but give no concrete answers. Make statements in the press saying you don't want to sell, despite no seemingly good reason to keep club. Keep letting club decline. Make bizarre and totally unprofessional transfer U-turns at the last minute. Blame the fax machine (TWICE !). Dash club's legacy and reputation. Allow attendances and loyal paying customer base to decline. Don't be transparent about who is actually running the club. Don't have ambition or use resources to improve club, this is important.

Tinfoil hat on here, but imo either we're being kept for accounting purposes or just Pasha et al have Venkys completely in the dark, and are just using this club to keep their pockets lined. Nothing else makes sense - I cannot believe that a multi-billion pound enterprise runs its subsidiaries this poorly. Venkys (and their merry men) out!!!

A family worth multiple billions can't kick an overpromoted middle manager out?

Just what does he have on them?!

It's why I say we have the worst owners in football.

They've not burned as brightly as some, but there seems to be no end to them - no light at the end of the tunnel.

I do wish Jackson would stop writing spoon fed nonsense offered up to him by the Club. As I said last week - it really isn't helpful.

"Strange" market indeed.Β

Hmmmphh.

Rev, when you were scribing for the Telewag did you get "suggestions" in what you should write or get negative feedback from any official entity for what you had written.Β  Are you sworn to secrecy?Β  Just curious if you had a knowledge if it.Β  Different regime at the time but did you experience anyone trying to guide what you wrote?

indian pride is very serious in their business world, they can`t offload the club because they`de take a huge loss and would be a laughing stock among the circle of commerce, they`de then be shunned and become bad karma, the caste system, honour, pride and reputation are massive in india

thats my take on it,they`ve had enough of owning a football club, but can`t get rid of it,so we are now a tiny corner in their empire that they are willing to just keep it existing

Why didn't they tailor their play to his strengths then ?

Only guy under instruction to cross was Brittain looks of it.

We haven't had a crosser since Craig Conway, - Sorba Thomas and Ryan Giles could but ended up not doing and you have to ask yourself why.

Club blueprint from above.

Then Mowbary plays Giles out if position.

It is a weird one.

Prior to the Court Case Id have said it was feasible Pasha was keeping them largely in the dark but since then they've taken steps to reduce net funding dramatically so they can't now be completely unaware of what's going on although I doubt they know Sky Football has been axed in Blues sort of thing.

I think that as a Premier League Club we were a useful vehicle for the Venky's brand and the upcoming launch of Venky's Express but that never happened and since relegation we've been no actual use to them just a drain on their resources. As such whatever interest they ever had has gradually tapered off.

They seemingly had a temporary burst of enthusiasm after the promotion from League 1 which Mowbray managed to extinguish.Β  Thereafter it was plodding along on the road to nowhere for several years until the Court Case which seemingly ended any interest they ever had. Now they're putting in the absolute minimum possible by combining selling anything they can with cutting costs to the bone. Presumably still wanting to avoid the shame back home of a business going bust.

Obviously from Pasha and Gestede's point of view it's well worth spinning them this fairy tale about how they can spend no money and retain Championship status to keep themselves in lucrative employment for as long as possible.

Where this ends for us as a ClubΒ  is anyone's guess. We'll be lucky to retain League status the rate we're going and I dont think it will be gradual.

According to a source at the club they have suspended Travis for refusing to play.

Unsure if I believe that or if it is a way of trying to turn us against Travis for wanting away.

Yes, several times.

John Williams didn't like a headline I'd done relating to the ticket allocation for the Celtic away game and wouldn't speak to the LT for 2 weeks - they were cacking it!

Unsurprisingly I was replaced at the end of that season and they didn't even have the courtesy to let me know. I found out in passing from someone else. I suspect it was "suggested" I be replaced.

I was however invited onto the FF and face to face I got along fine with JW although I didn't agree with a lot of what he did such as the policy of filling the DE with away fans for big games. I argued the only way to fill Ewood with home fans on a long term basis was to give the likes of Liverpool and Man Ure smaller allocations for those games and try and sell the rest to Rovers fans and get them hooked. Involved more hard work though so was never done.

I wondered, seems kike you went cold on Williams after your tenure as fans scribe.Β  If you were treated like that, not even being told your services were no konger needed, I can't blame you.Β  So safe to say, and I do not know how far back it goes, but Rovers have the LET in their pocket.

Always been the case, otherwise the LT would have square root of naff all in terms of content. We used to know someone on the LT years ago who said if they were stuck for a few column inches to fill they'd put in a story about a chip pan fire.

Times are a lot more serious now though than back in Williams' day - the very future of the Club is at risk. We need the LT to stand up and question forensically what's going on not have a tame lap dog like Jackson blow smoke up their arse.

If they did go on collision course with the Club we might see a bit of improvement in things but even if not Im sure they'd gain a lot more readers or subscribers than they would with us having to read bollox about the market being "difficult" or suchlike.

Which is why continuing (even now in 2025) to make statements aboutΒ the club being not for saleΒ is so bafflingΒ πŸ™„

I notice it was Pasha making this statement, but assume Venkys are aware in some capacity.

What gives? It's not like keeping us is doing their reputation or finances any good (should we be suspecting fowl play here? πŸ”)

Thats it. They aim no higher than keeping the club in existence. What level it's competing at matters not a jot.Β

It would be legal as potentially gross misconduct if he has refused to play.Β

But let’s be honest it’s about the most idiotic move you could make if you want the best money out of a deal, which makes it possible.
