Isn’t Gardner-Hickman supposed to be able to play there as well?

He did against Charlton away, that's probably enough said about that

I hope never to see it again, unless he is in the opposing teams line-up, our left sided player would have a field day

the same applies to Montgomery, they are both average midfielders, but terrible full/wing backs

Alebiosu, Miller and Litherland all can cover Rwb, goals have to be the priority before any other defenders, especially kid loans

Cover, yes, but two of those are CBs in a position that you're relying on to create goals.

Pretty sure Barnsley have previously put a £5m price tag on DKD.

That might have come down a bit but it won't be to the level we're willing to pay.

Barnsley have some truly ludicrous valuations of their players. Presumably they're just not really willing to sell them, realistically. Unless a stupid and unlikely bid comes in. I can respect that. But I wouldn't pay half that for a 28 year old player with his CV.

Rovers wouldn't be willing to pay half of that either.

All of this stuff is just a smokescreen to mask another dismal January effort.

Strikers are obviously the priority, and a left wing back.

But we do also need a right wing back on top of that. Litherland is out for months and isnt a wing back. Miller isnt a wing back either, he cant attack.

yep

Worth noting that signings are generally announced after registration has already been sorted, as they do photos, interviews, etc

We’re not getting either of these Barnsley forwards. They will have attracted more attention after decent performances tonight

He also is a proper winger so it makes no sense that we identified him really.

Unless we wanted to be able to play with wingers

Even if we signed him, he would be our only competent winger.

And everything we do seems to be very much building towards always playing a 352.

To be honest, he looks like he could play anywhere up top, one thing's for sure, someone has got a good eye.

Made irrelevant by trying to sign a £5m player for £1m.

Maybe it was the other eye that found De Neve, Henriksson, Tavares etc.

Pointless even trying to make anything like a positive comment.

Every silver lining has to have a cloud.

I'm not sure you've noticed the weather the last 15 years.

Surely though it’s only relevant if we can actually sign him? If the valuation is £5m and we’re offering 20% of that then surely identifying him is pointless? I could identify loads of players we couldn’t afford.

Scouts are gone player profiles that the club/manager want

all the finances come after

so if we have had a scout recommend this fella then fair play

I have, but when it's  constantly looking for and pointing out negatives, then putting anything remotely positive down to luck, then it all becomes a bit pointless having a discussion.

The scouts are there to identify players we can potentially afford. We are nowhere near affording this one. Like Ricky said, we can all identify good players the club can't afford. That Adam Wharton looks alright. Messi, Haaland, Gyokeres, they should be able to fix our attacking woes.

How would scouts know a players final valuation that between the clubs in negotiations

they identify players strengths weaknesses and profile the club might be looking for that could possibly fall within their budget

th selling club slapping in unrealistic price tag on to a player isn’t the scouts issue or fault

let’s take the Barnsley striker coming 29 this year never played above league one 18 months left on contract and he’s valued by his club at 5million? Not realistic nor matches what his real valuation on the open market would be
