There has been a huge inflation in Scandinavia the last few years when it comes to transfer fees. This has especially been fuelled by the extensions of the European cups. Qualifying even just for the Group stage in Conference League has filled up coffers. It has also driven up the fee as clubs are more reluctant to sell when there is a 10mill pound European ticket in their sights. 

When you compare Ipswich paying 20 mill for Walle Egeli, 3.5 for Jørgensen is probably the going rate. Jørgensen was tracked by Bodø Glimt for several years before buying him last summer. They are loaded after qualifying for Champions League so they would never let him go on the cheap. 

The contract length seems reasonable to protect the investment. You're not giving a 2-year contract to a 3.5 mill signing to see him walk for free after 2 years. Given our inability to renew contracts it's probably better to give longer contract up front. If he doesn't work out, there will be plenty of takers for a reduced fee. Scandinavian clubs have a good track record of buying back "failed" players.

you have to question why bodo glimt signed jorgenson  in the summer and are offloading him a couple of months later,take no notice of the quoted "3.5 million" either,sidnei was touted as costing 2 million but thats obviously a load of ****,it pays not to believe anything that comes out of ewood

It's definitely a punt, any striker from the Scandinavian league would be. On the other hand, who could you get with Championship experience and a proven goal record for 3.5 mill and 10k a week?

Ryan Hardie is probably the only that springs to mind, and would make sense to me.

The latest was they were "in talks about making is move permanent" or words to that effect

Given that the option was already agreed in the summer, & doesn't require any talks (it just needs activating), I would assume there is no news

The longer the contract the more time you have to pay the fee over and also base a chunk of it on add ons.

Also it can compensate a bit for a lower wage 'we can't give you that much over 2/3 years but we can give you this much over 4 years so you had the security'

That kind of thing that they've done before with the likes of Armstrong and Gallagher although bigger figures involved obviously.

I found the timings quite strange too. Bear in mind the Norwegian league also runs March till November so they effectively had what half a season out of him and a few champions league performances. 4 goals in 10 league appearances doesn't suggest he was awful there? He was their main/most expensive signing too by the looks of things.

Bodo have played 2 friendlies in Jan and he was on the bench in 1, he started the game on Tuesday which suggests he was in their plans.

Was it an offer they couldn't turn down? 🤔

People often think Blackburn is a difficult place to settle in. Try a town of 42,000 which is a 16 hour car journey from Oslo and further north than practically all of Alaska..

It is far enough inside the Arctic Circle that at this time of the year, the only "daylight" is caused by  refraction by the Earth's atmosphere for an hour or so each day. 

When he signed it was probably brilliant sunshine at midnight and warm enough to venture out in a light sweater.

In fairness the transfer has suprised most people in Norwegian football including the Bodo fans. Bodo usually beds in players for several months to get used to their high-intensity training and tempo. Their coach is famous for not rotating the squad and Jørgensen have seemingly performed admirably in his cameos of the bench (4 goals in 10 matches in 300+ minutes). 

There could be something in the player not settling and might have pushed.
