A draw isn't good enough at this stage either. 1 win in 14 is absolutely abysmal. We can't keep limping on with the odd draw.

Fails to win and the club need to get him binned. Could already be too late by this point though.

Putting all there eggs in the basket for that Sheffield Wednesday game.

Win that and they will be banging on about it for ages.

Hull are almost 2/1 - which is a ridiculous price when you look at the current form of the teams.

They've won 8, drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last 10 (counting their penalty shoot out victory over us as a win).

They've won at Millwall, Middlesbrough, Southampton and Preston recently (admittedly drew at Sheffield Wednesday in the middle of all that).

9.5k home fans will turn up and it'll feel like a big crowd.

Think Hull have shifted a lot of tickets which is a rarity for them at Ewood so the upper office will be happy and telling India look the boycotters have given up already.

1 defeat in 10 competitive games for Hull, 1 win in 14 competitive games for Rovers, on paper it looks like they wil steam roll us.

I don't think we'll get stuffed, I think it will be a narrow, ugly win for Hull.

As others have said though, it's got to the stage where every single home game is now a 'must win' and bar an unusual event like a sending off for Hull, I can't see us overpowering them in 90 mins.

Looks like we're moving back towards a 4-2-3-1 set up, which I think is the right idea. Back 3's rarely work out for the long term, unless you're a top, top team. As always, a shift back will benefit some players and not others.

-----------------Toth

Alebiosu---Miller---McLoughlin---Cashin

---------Tronstad---Forshaw

Jorgensen-----Cantwell-----Mori

--------------Gudjohnsen

I think the system works better for everyone who's available except for Gudjohnsen, who I recall was quite isolated in that role before they switched to 2 up front.

I think our squad or at least numerous important players are more suited to a 352 personally although the squad isnt well built for either.

You look out wide, Morishita isnt as effective wide. Jorgensen doesnt look quick enough wide although early days. And we dont have any alternatives there. Our width comes from Alebiosu who is freed up as a wing back.

The centre backs arent good enough to not need a third player back there. Miller is fine right side of a back 3, within a pairing there are far bigger doubts. It also makes the Cashin signing stranger if we just plan to go to a back 4 with him at left back, out of position.

And up front, the plan is seemingly to have 4 forwards for 2 positions. As mentioned, Gudjohnsen (and even the below average Ohashi) seem to be more effective in a front 2.

I don't disagree with any of that tbh.

A back 3 suits our centre backs better and it gets the best out of Alebiosu, Ohashi and Gudjohnsen.

We don't have a LWB at all now and we lack any decent centre midfielders (save for Sonny), who get pulled all over the shop. As we play 2 upfront and another pushed forward in behind it leaves huge spaces to be exploited by the opposition. The lack of pace throughout, leaves us incredibly susceptible to counter attacks, when the wing backs and one of the back 3 are pushed high up the pitch.

I'd much rather play Picks or Ribeiro at LB, as opposed to Cashin but he won't get dropped after the Watford game.

I don't think the squad is completely suited to either formation tbh but that's Venkys bargain bin summer window coming to the fore.

I also don't think Ismael is a good enough manager to get a back 3 system to work over the longer term.

It feels like this window is about getting players who can "do a job" in either formation. Ismael himself doesnt seem to know, in the end we will have plenty of square pegs in round holes as the season goes on im sure.

With Ismael saying Gudjohnsen will be on the bench, I imagine we will now line-up like this:

                             Toth

Alebiosu   Miller   McLoughlin   Cashin

               Tronstad    Forshaw

Jorgensen       Cantwell        Miroshita

                          Ohashi

I'd personally quite like to see Jorgensen down the middle with Ohashi dropping to the bench. Alebiosu pushed further up field, Miller at RB and O'Riordan at CB.

Depends which way you look at it, I don't really see why there's this fixation with players having to rigidly stay in one position, and the team having to play one formation.

We'd never have scored the first goal at Leicester if Szmodics hadn't drifted out to the left.

It isn't bar football.

Let me guess… we have a 1-0 lead, and the game is abandoned.

It only rains when we're winning, rains when we're winning.....
