  1. Exactly, he got most of his England caps post Fergie. Injuries were the issue pure and simple. Indeed as top level player you should be able to play in different positions anyway.
  2. Tremendous timing for the brains trust running this club to put them on sale after a week Sky have bombarded anyone with even a passing interest in an EFL club to just his many times their side will be on the tele… It obviously won’t bother those clubs that have had them on sale for up to three months and their fans all nicely renewed. Bravo once again 👏
  3. Yes he seems to have aged quite quickly in the last year or so.
  4. Folk would rather see their club in the third division just so they could get one over some anonymous accounts on an obscure messsge board?
  5. I’m not particularly arsed about social media, if some 20 year old comms grad on ‘the socials’ think they are hilarious then crack on, it’s the modern world - I’m talking about how the club operates, it’s commercial operation, events etc.
  6. The club is so small time these days it’s painful, it acts like a lower league club already so at least there’s some forward planning there for once.
  7. £18 million was a terrible price, the fact that lad at Bristol City went for £25million tells you that. Not that it matters I suppose as we will be spending 0 of 18, instead of 0 of 25, but it still rankles that a ‘generational talent’ was bundled out the door to merely pay the bills, not to rebuild a team desperate for it.
  8. Opening paragraph of today’s Times article on him: ‘When was the last time that a player made the step up from Championship to Premier League with quite the same poise as Adam Wharton? England’s second tier has been fertile ground for a plethora of top-flight stars in recent years, of course, but it is hard to recall anyone who has taken to life among the elite as swiftly as the 20-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder. His £18 million transfer fee from Blackburn Rovers, which could potentially rise to £22 million, already looks like an absolute snip.’ But yeah we couldn’t possibly have hoped for any more dosh for a Championship player according to some of the sages on here
  9. Yep easy twenty quid from fans with Dingle away FOMO. Feck anything that takes some effort and admin.
  10. ‘Great new TV deal for EFL clubs players and their representatives.’
  11. Yep, the owners of this club do not give a flying fuck about the long term health of the fanbase - and that has fed down into their ‘representative’ and executives on the ground, I.e all ‘targets’ (and presumably bonuses) are based on short term arbitrary revenue figures, not how we can get more bums on seats. Swag, Suhail et al DO NOT CARE about the future health of this club as they know the owners don’t, and I think WATR (Trust) et al need to come to terms with that.
  12. We all hope that (yep, mid table in the second division is the stuff of dreams here), but unless he’s given a substantially bigger budget that isn’t happening.
  13. Indeed, I asked on the Trust thread some time back and didn’t get an answer, as to when ‘enough is enough’ with this regime, be it the execs or otherwise, and this would be a prime example that they are just not engaging with them in good faith - which is a slap in the face to passionate people putting in much time and effort (gratis).
  14. Only the fools running this club could increase prices after hardly winning a home game in six months, after repeated shambles off the pitch, after seeing Sky relentlessly promoting their new much expanded TV coverage, after getting them on sale months later than pretty much every other club, after seeing our neighbours having them on sale at very competitive prices. I mean, what chance does Blackburn Rovers have?
  15. I don’t think a single Rovers fan thinks he’ll be staying.
  16. I’ve always gone with Occam’s Razor with regards to these owners; they are arrogant, neglectful fools, I don’t really go in for active sabotage. However, there’s also no point in trying to square their intentions in 2010 to what they are in 2024, I see no evidence that they want PL football for Blackburn Rovers.
  17. Don’t appoint rookie managers then if that’s the expectation.
  18. £6 for UK brewed pretend Moretti? No wonder folk stick to supermarket beer.
  19. The fact that he is already running PL games and the debate is when he’ll be playing for England shows how Palace had our pants down and no mistake.
  20. If this club had aspirations to be better, then of course he’d be replaced… but we don’t, so he won’t.
  21. Nobody is talking about reducing match tickets (so undercutting ST holders), in fact don’t, as you can then still rinse big away followings. PNE’s match tickets have actually been increased in price to do just that, as they know the home support is protected from those prices by buying STs in big numbers. Outside the PL, reducing season ticket prices is the only way you are substantially increasing crowds, as STs make up the bulk of the crowd for the entire season - just like our neighbours are seeing. Will it bring in more revenue? No, not really, but so what, it can only help the team, the atmosphere, there are secondary incomes that come from more bums on seats too - if you have the supply, utilise it.
  22. What’s lame about it? Two very similar sized clubs to our west and south have done just that and are now selling far bigger numbers. Now, it helps if the reduction is done when there’s a bit of momentum around the club, I.e last summer would’ve been a good time as we’ll struggle to sell decent numbers at any price this summer with everything that’s gone on- but generally at this level (I.e not PL football), only a reduction will see numbers go up at a club like ours.
  23. The only reason Blackburn Rovers is ‘broke’ is because the Rao’s are no longer funding their business. If any other non parachute club had owners who had turned the taps off (or had the authorities turn them off for them) they’d be broke too. There is nothing fundamentally different about BRFC, we just have owners under investigation for financial irregularities.
