  1. Remember that season with the record breaking 7-0 loss at home followed by that capitulation from 2nd place to 10th in four months? The pinnacle of Venkys ownership. Ah, those halcyon days.
  2. One of the houses would do.
  3. When he leaves I'm fully expecting it to be like when Princess Diana died down at Ewood. Mass mourning, candles in the wind, cuddly ET toys, the lot.
  4. Short memories...
  5. Short memories... Stabilised the club... He's got us where we are today... He was let down by his players... He saved everyone of us. Actually that last one was Flash Gordon but it's difficult to separate the two they are so similar.
  6. Pickering, Gallagher, not good enough. No idea about Hedges and Brown. Or even Markanday for that matter. Ayala will play a handful of games then fall over. The bench... It's an insult to our youth team that some of those are ahead of them. If Mowbray does stay, imagine him having to sign half a team. We'll end up with some right dollopers and panic buys.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if Gallagher gets moved on if TM leaves. He's only persisted with him because of what he paid for him. A new manager won't have the problem. Did someone say FFP isn't a problem next season?
  8. There you go. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2012/oct/31/blackburn-henning-berg-new-manager Blimey 9 years ago, it seemed bad then but we still all believed we could get back up with the right manager. Now there seems to be a mass acceptance that we've found our level.
  9. He said it the Summer before he arrived. That's why there were news reports at the time stating he was taking the job, despite criticising the owners.
  10. Then he took the job.
  11. Hopefully it's just because he has another month left on his contract and they'd rather he sort out the cones than give any compensation out.
  12. ... Being left completely to your own devices, giving contracts to people who haven't even seen a pitch in years or are too old for it, bizarre tactical decisions, signing £7m flops, a 7-0 record breaking drubbing at home, two absolutely abysmal death spirals, going from an auto promotion place to 9th place in a few months, deciding not to sign players in January and admitting in the local press you could do but it doesn't fit your bizarre ethos, when others around you are strengthening. And you'll still end up picking up around a million a year in wages. Or in short, do whatever the #### you want with our football club and you'll still make a fortune. Who would possibly want that job?
  13. I'll be fascinated if he gets a job elsewhere, just to see if he takes his bonkers decisions with him.
  14. Which is why we should have strengthened appropriately in the January transfer window. As you mockingly replied to me at the time, "we're doomed." You weren't wrong to be fair.
  15. It seems like they don't allow people to get on with their jobs, yet they don't want to do the job themselves so half-ass it. If they don't trust the people they've put in charge of the club, to find a decent manager, then why are they in charge?
  16. Scumbags contract was stupidly costly - combined with compensation to Allardyce. Berg was on a million a season. We paid compensation for Appleton so I presume he was on decent money. Bowyer was installed as manager presumably because the manager budget for that season had dried up. I feel sorry for Bowyer as it's now looking like he was our best manager even if he did fall short - and he probably made the least dough out of it. Lambert won't have been cheap back then. Coyle will have been on more than you think. Mowbray won't be missing family time for buttons. He extended his contract in 2018 so something was keeping him here. Whoever they get next will be taking home £1m or close to it, a season. No matter if they are good, bad or Tony Mowbray.
  17. Where the eff has Venus as director of football come from? Please tell me that it's just a Twitter rumour.
  18. Here it is again, if anyone is in any doubt at what went wrong. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19898505.tony-mowbray-explains-blackburn-rovers-didnt-sign-striker/
  19. It's because Steve Cooper wanted his club promoted. Mowbray wanted to massage his own ego and delusions of grandeur.
  20. A damp squib sums Tony Mowbray up. We lost it in the January transfer window when he was dilly dallying over changing his name to Pep.
  21. Even with the useless Venkys, if Mowbray had been more savvy and not created problems for himself we may have made the play offs. I'll always blame Mowbray for this one.
  22. Big January signing, a kid from Tottenham with no professional appearances 🤣 Second place, we knew we would be without our only goalscorer due to international duty. Didn't sign one useful player in January.
  23. He went at the start of January. Still picking up a wage weirdly enough.
  24. Well that's that, at least TM's fate is pretty much sealed. 9th placed finish it is. That's a massive tumble from second. If we had proper owners they'd have sacked him when it was obvious he couldn't get a tune out of the team any more, and installed Farke for a proper promotion push. Though it would have been always been a tough gig when you consider the manager thought he could sustain the challenge with zero notable goalscorers.
