Scumbags contract was stupidly costly - combined with compensation to Allardyce. Berg was on a million a season. We paid compensation for Appleton so I presume he was on decent money. Bowyer was installed as manager presumably because the manager budget for that season had dried up. I feel sorry for Bowyer as it's now looking like he was our best manager even if he did fall short - and he probably made the least dough out of it. Lambert won't have been cheap back then. Coyle will have been on more than you think. Mowbray won't be missing family time for buttons. He extended his contract in 2018 so something was keeping him here. It's because Steve Cooper wanted his club promoted. Mowbray wanted to massage his own ego and delusions of grandeur.
