Huddersfield - Saturday Lunch for Sky
bazza replied to Uddersfelt Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Whenever I see this sort of statement I always think of Herold Goulon. -
I see the match between Kidderminster Harriers and Farsley Celtic was postponed due to "international call-ups". Are some of their players from San Marino and Liechtenstein by any chance?
-
Hence I went for Damian Johnson. I'd love to see what he would do as manager and given full rein.
-
Yep. On paper they should hammer us. But, as we all know, football is a funny old game. I think we might get something from this one.
-
Oldgregg86, if you were our owner I would agree entirely with your suggestion regarding Johnson. It would have to be Venus, Lowe, Waggott and most of Mowbray's back-room staff given the push and give Jonno a free role in who he wants as his staff. Unfortunately we have peculiar owners who really don't know what they are doing. I now envy the Blackpool fans who managed to rid their club of despicable owners and can see light at the end of the tunnel. We Rovers fans are still blindly stumbling along our tunnel with no real hope for the future.

Or maybe it's your age? ? Re Tosin; what a good idea! Jim Mk2 says 3-0 defeat. I say only a 2-0 defeat. Jim and I know Rovers only too well.
-
It's 7 miles to Ewood for me, only 4.5 to Deepdale. So I'll be going. I hope it's not going to be like last year. PNE are better, I think, than last year but we have a better squad too. Where is another Barrie Hole when you need him. Perhaps the two Lewis's in midfield will do the trick.
-
Oh dear. One of the best managers in the championship. Him and the guy at Bristol, to me, have worked wonders.
-
Don't build your hopes up. And, what would folks consider to be a "strong" team for the cup?
-
You're right, Renrag. It was Jesse Pye who was a prolific scorer for Luton 1952-54. Joe Payne of Luton scored his 10 in 1936 before we were born.?
-
The name that springs to my mind is Jesse Payne. Were there two different individuals who played for Luton? I know Tommy Briggs scored 7 for us in one game but the record holder for scoring in one game was Payne of Luton Town with 10.
-
No. Tony has said, even though his fitness is ok, he won't be in the squad at Reading. He will, more than likely, be in the squad for the home game against Luton Town.

Conway should be ringing Keith Hill to offer his services. -
If Tosin is fit to start, I'd put him right back. Must not split up the Irish trio . Captain Bennett is first on the team sheet. So I'd go with Walton; Tosin, Lenihan, Williams, Cunningham; Bennett, Travis, Johnson, Downing; Dack, Gallagher. Subs:- Leut, Rothwell, Nyambe, Graham, Buckley, Armstrong, Evans

Whilst reading about League 1 should be Div 3 etc., one of my biggest gripes is the wrong information in the honours list in the Rovers' programmes. It's been going on for many seasons. I have contacted the producers twice about it but nothing is done. It says:- HONOURS FA PREMIERSHIP Champions 1994-95 Runners up 1993-94 DIVISION ONE Champions. 1911-12, 1913-14 Runners up. 2000-01 That mistake denigrates the fact that we have been champions of England 3 times and not just once. They need to reorganise the listing somehow. -
Excellent game of football. Kosovo are very good. Like Blackpool under Ollie in the Prem, they were a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed every minute.
-
I bet they don't play as well as a team of young lads.

The way that the laws of the game have been changed mostly for the worse. The over complicated way that is used for VAR. I knew this would happen. Lack of respect for referees and linesmen.Yes I know that linesmen are called something different now. Lack of a sensible maximum wage worldwide. -
Nobody seems to have mentioned that Cunningham had his arm pulled so their forward could go past him and score their first goal. Ref was blind to that yet he saw their keeper being fouled for our third. Useless official! Even the pundits on EFL on Quest pointed that out.
-
Already? Bloody Hell!

I think the 5-man forward line of Ferguson, McEvoy, Pickering, Douglas, Harrison was the best and most exciting I've ever seen. I was around 20 years old at the time. Maybe it's nostalgia but (for me) it beats Ripley, Sherwood, Shearer, Sutton, Wilcox. Then again...............maybe not. Different era. Different pace. R.I.P. Mike.

What was the line-up, who scored and who is Barnes?
-
Must be better than the Canadian.
