Fred Pickering was an excellent full back. The game he got injured (no subs in those days) he was moved to centre forward for "nuisance value" and scored. Andy McEvoy was a less-than-average right half who struggled when he replaced an injured Ronnie Clayton. I squirmed when he played because he was so awful. Then, probably due to injury again, he came in at inside right and amazed us all by scoring goals. He became an excellent goal poacher and his partnership with Pickering is now legendary. My point is that Fred was excellent in both positions whereas Andy was in only one.

It's better than a lot of potential draws. Not the best but certainly very far from the worst.

We were 3-2 up playing 4 minutes of added time when we fouled one of their players close to the D of our penalty area. I fully expected their free kick to result in an equaliser. The ref blew, but not for a free kick, for full time. What a relief!! That, Mr mashed potato was what happened at Ewood today. I thought Travis had the poorest game yet. Bell actually played better than normal. So many of our players need good individual coaching which they don't seem to be getting. We need a good new manager with a proper coaching staff. I felt sorry for Barnsley who should have been going home with the 3 points. Anyway, now I'm glad we stole the 3 points from them.

When the game started they announced no VAR. Whoopee!! Thank goodness for that. What a much better experience without it. I see the law about the ball hitting the referee had been tweaked so now the ref stops the game and gives a drop ball to one team. Utterly stupid.
