  1. Known as "The ghost", Alf Ramsey could see something in him that we supporters couldn't at the time. Of course, Alf knew better. R.I.P. Martin
  2. It's always better to see the word "champions" rather than "runners-up" in the club's honours list.
  3. So did I. And whilst we're on the subject of brothers, I wonder how many brothers have played for the Rovers. I can think of only two in my lifetime; Ken and Ronnie Clayton and Martin and Marcus Olsson.
  4. Just a few things to ponder.......... Could this be the usual good run of games followed by the bad run which may start with Wigan at home? How much has the playing of Tosin contributed to the general performance of the team? If he got injured (to be replaced by Williams) would our good run continue? WBA have come from behind to win a lot of games this season. How would we cope when going 1 or 2 goals down? Have we got the bottle to come from behind and win games regularly? Could we do what Cardiff did in Leeds? If TM took us up to the Prem and we only had one season there, would we stick with him throughout the relegation and trust him to take us back up like Burnley did with Dyche?
  5. The whingeing when the team was announced was unreal. Still, what do we fans know, hey? I had us down for a 2-0 defeat. Great result.
  6. Yep. Bad news for us. If we can scrape through the next two games with a point or two I'll be happy.
  7. It should be least red cards, then least yellow cards and maybe other stuff before the toss of a coin or drawing straws. It should never, ever be alphabetical order. And the whole of Yeovil town agree with me.
  8. And quite rightly too. It's a difficult away game. Today Rothwell started at the centre circle and tried to dribble his way through the whole Derby team and lost the ball. Then, a minute or so later, he received the ball near their D and passed it sideways. His decision-making is poor.
  9. Bennett did produce a superb cross field pass with his right foot from left back position and didn't let us down. But he mustn't start there.
  10. If there is to be a replay at Ewood, why is the kick-off time not 7:46? Is there no mental health awareness in Blackburn? Perhaps the NHS couldn't cope if there was, hey? ?
  11. Fred Pickering was an excellent full back. The game he got injured (no subs in those days) he was moved to centre forward for "nuisance value" and scored. Andy McEvoy was a less-than-average right half who struggled when he replaced an injured Ronnie Clayton. I squirmed when he played because he was so awful. Then, probably due to injury again, he came in at inside right and amazed us all by scoring goals. He became an excellent goal poacher and his partnership with Pickering is now legendary. My point is that Fred was excellent in both positions whereas Andy was in only one.
  12. It's better than a lot of potential draws. Not the best but certainly very far from the worst.
  13. The four last balls were Peterborough, Birmingham, Rovers and Burnley. We were last ball out.
  14. Wow. Brum away. I thought we were going to get Burnley.
  15. I thought he was being random too. That's why I liked his post.
  16. Puscas improved Reading's result today with a quick hat trick. He's Romanian. Ferenc Puskas of the 1950s was Hungarian; a truly brilliant player; a magician.
  17. Apparently no cards given to anyone throughout the match. Sign of a good referee?
  18. I'd rather be called "duck" or "cock" than "pal". If anyone calls me "pal" I expect the next move to be a smack in the face. I've seen the short highlights and I think people are being a little harsh on Walton. Listening to radio lancs, Kevin Gallacher said, just before they scored, that Walton was being crowded out mainly by his own players and that he could hardly move.
  19. I hope that, even if we lose but play well, Tony will try to keep this same side for a while.
  20. EFL on Quest didn't show the whole build up. My grandson, who was watching the game on ifollow, sent me a video of it on WhatsApp. It starts with us winning the ball in our right back position. All our players are so eager, helping each other out, reminded me of England away to Spain in Seville last November when we went 3-0 up. That was a fabulous team goal and is a contender for Rovers goal of the season. SG? For one silly moment I thought you were referring to Simon Garner,?
  21. Round pegs in round holes. What a good solid performance that was; a balanced team. Every player played well including Brereton who did his share when he came on. If Tony can keep selecting teams like this I may just change my mind about him. Nyambe should be fit for Saturday. He went off with cramp.
  22. Wouldn't it be nice for Tony to say to the lads in the dressing room. "Forget about tactics and all we've discussed for this game. Go out there, play your own game, use your own football nouse, you are all professionals who love the game, enjoy yourselves with gay abandon."
