  1. That doesn’t do Eustace any favours. Not all fans are stupid.
  2. North end are dour but well organised and don’t make many mistakes. They don’t get caught on the break and are difficult to beat. No flair whatsoever. exactly the opposite to us.( although we might have lost the flair we had). Opposite to us yes. Four yes. Exactly where Eustace will try to take us. I doubt he can. Another easy win over Rovers. Rovers should be ashamed of their recent record against PNE.
  3. We’ve voluntarily moved on from trying to pass the ball to each other, excellent movement around the park and trying to play football the way it’s meant to be played. It was going downhill for sure but that’s because the squad became weaker and weaker. We’ve moved on to that long ball, hoofing it crap that we saw last night. Any more of that and the fans will be right on Eustaces back. There’ll be shouts at the players of “can’t you just do the basics like pass it to a teammate”. “F’ing pub football” etc, etc. Seen it all before. why anyone would want to move back from passing football to “get it up front quickly” “more direct” football beats me. This is inevitably where that kind of football gets you.
  4. 4–1 last game? I wouldn’t like to bet against the same score line without the 1.
  5. From what I’ve seen tonight Eustace has a lot to work on and nothing to work with. I’ve also seen enough to see that this squad isn’t capable of playing to the “get it up front quicker” - “more direct football “ game that so many fans seem to want.
  6. I would say the basics are passing the ball, retaining possession, creating chances and denying chances.
  7. Wish we had a team that could do the basics - like passing the ball.
  8. Just pisses me off that Venkys couldn’t wait to sell him.
  9. All the best teams in England and probably the world, play that way Tyrone.
  10. Impossible to judge that. Any new manager can get a new manager bounce that might last only a short time. Comparing the two managers over a longer time will also be impossible because you have to take into account many other factors in that case.
  11. Yep. He undoubtedly had rovers playing the best football since our Premier League days. The best league position since the PL days. He had players sold from beneath him and suffered a load of injuries to key players. The squad he had at his disposal the last few months just wasn’t equipped to win enough games. He’d been telling the fans and the club that he needed a striker for a long time. He’d been telling them he needed experience and numbers for quite a while. The club failed him IMO. When they were asked for support they were too incompetent to provide it. and the owners and management do what exactly? What responsibility have they accepted? Answer…. None.
  12. Someone appointed with the task of getting us out of this league in any way he could.
  13. Another “head coach” appointed with rovers including this in their news article.. “Guiding the Blues to their highest points total since 2016 in his first season in charge, whilst developing a raft of exciting young players,” It sounds to me that we carry on as we were. Nothing will change. I didn’t read anything at all impressive in that rovers intro to Eustace, but like everyone else I wish him luck.
  14. Eustace has been appointed club secretary while Silvester has been moved to first team coach.
  15. IMO, the basic, basic problem we’ve had under these owners is that there’s never been any pressure on anyone to get results on the park. I doubt very much that JDT would have been sacked if we’d got relegated this season. Seems to me managers generally only get the push when they speak out, when they speak about the lack of backing or about the club failings. When have we heard anyone in the club apart from a manager say results aren’t good enough? When do you ever hear any comments about results? We don’t get any of that because as long as we develop youngsters and sell them, that keeps everyone happy. That was the plan since day one of Venkys ownership and is still their only goal. I assume they hope results follow but who knows? Is Waggott under pressure from Venkys to improve results? I don’t think so. The whole ethos at the club is wrong. Venkys whole reason for being here is wrong. The club is not geared for any success. That won’t change and that’s why Venkys need to look for a buyer in my opinion.
  16. Knowing the shit we’re in, knowing that he’s available and knowing Venkys won’t ever go for him doesn’t help my current frame of mind regarding rovers at all.
  17. Exactly. however, we will probably continue with a DOF providing the players and employing a coach rather than a manager. For me…… give me a manager with vast experience of the championship and let him pick his own players to play in his style. That though, doesn’t fit in with a club still fixed on primarily developing young players and selling them as quickly as possible. That’s a flawed model.
  18. A bit of advice to any prospective new manager….. If you’re unlucky enough to get an interview don’t for one second suggest that you’re ambitious. Anything more than aiming for grinding to 21st place will be frowned upon. Oh and don’t even mention money.
