  1. I’ll just add, that this was at a time before Ramsey’s wingless wonders and before the game began to become very tactics based. Virtually every team played the same “WM” formation. Players were bought for their technical ability alone. Players were bought for that reason and were allowed to go on the park and do what they were good at.
  2. I still think, that team, at that time was the best rovers team I’ve ever seen. They were fantastic.
  3. That’s a fantastic pic Gav. Anyone would be absolutely delighted to have that photo of them in the public arena.
  4. People must have been at West Ham like me, when Byrom scored a hat trick against them for a 3-3 draw in the FA cup, only for rovers to beat them in the replay at Ewood 4-1 with McEvoy scoring a hat trick.
  5. I know you was ARA, so was I. I looked for the Spurs pics in the Talbot archive, but I couldn’t see them. I have seen them in there before though.
  6. Duggie also. Mike Harrison in background. https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/bryan-douglas-of-blackburn-rovers-scores-past-tottenham-news-photo/1218645887
  7. Fred Pickering scoring same match. Danny Blanchflower anyone? https://www.gettyimages.dk/detail/news-photo/fred-pickering-of-blackburn-rovers-scores-past-tottenham-news-photo/1218645874
  8. Mike England scoring in a game many of us older fans talk about on here. Scoring against Spurs in that 7-2 win. Looks like Dave Mackay in that photo to me.
  9. I was so gutted when Fred left, but totally baffled and deflated when Byrom was sold to Bolton. I really didn’t get that.
  10. A cross any centre half should be clearing.
  11. That’s a joke I presume. I’m sure you know who both of those two are. Anyone else?
  12. One of many on the Talbot archive.
  13. Rotherham deserved the win. I applaud Mowbray for the way he’s trying to take the team, but the idea of Arma down the middle and Gallagher 20 yards away on the wing will never work. Why can’t he see that?
  14. Well that was drab. We couldn’t have posed less of a threat if we’d tried. Nothing up front. Has to get someone nearer to Armstrong.
  15. The kids get me. That Alexis isn’t cut out for picking litter up for a living, or painting the side of a shed with a roller is she 😂
  16. Just finished 1st series of Schitts creek on Netflix. very, very funny. 6 series in total but easy to watch because an episode only lasts 20 mins. As with most successful TV, the characters make it. It must be funny because it even makes my wife laugh - and she has no sense of humour.
  17. Both disappointed and not disappointed tonight. Again frustrating at losing a game where we contributed so much, but on the other hand we do have a side now with good individual technique, a game where for the first time I can remember it’s there to be seen - and the players are playing to it. Add to that a very positive approach throughout the 90 mins and so there are things to applaud. Its not perfect, but with players such as Dack to come back there is something to look forwards to.
  18. Really looking forwards to watching rovers these days, that can only ever mean one thing. never mind that, come onnnnnn rovers!
  19. You have to say South Africa’s bowling was mediocre, but even so - watching these guys is just awesome.
  20. Paul Shepstone: Winger who has worked in retail industry and owns Blissful Lingerie in Leamington Spa. ?
  21. Currently 2 points off 6th place.
