Summer Transfer Window 2019
Bigdoggsteel replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I wonder would Phil Jones come back on loan? I would say Tuanzebe is ahead of him now. That could be a great move for him... I suppose United would prefer to sell or loan to a team who would actually pay his wages -

I see Jaoa has signed for Reading. Wasn't the fee for him mooted to be £8 million? Absolutely no way Reading paid that -
The Waggott buffer will give Tony longer than Bowyer. I honestly think he would have to walk.

I think he is a decent dribbler at times, very prone to taking too long though, which negates this a lot. -

Bell could do with one of those ankle bracelets that give the person a shock when you press the button. He is far too laid back. That works for Marcelo. He isn't Marcelo. The thing is he is actually pretty good on the ball, so I can see why he got on well in League 1. -
Wouldn't surprise me

Nyambe Lenihan (c) Tosin Cunningham Looks solid to me. I think Lenihan thrives on being the leader/organiser -
Any word on who is on the list?

Exactly. Put our team with Middlesboroughs defence and that is a promising team. The thing is , outside of Graham though , you couldn't say any of our strikers are proven at this level. -
I wouldn't say he had to give them much instruction...

I wonder though, do they even know enough about football to know the difference between a forward and an attacker from a potential sales point of view? Maybe the auditors put a line in their recommendations, but that would only cover from when they carried out those 2 audits. Prior to Mowbray we were pretty much spending nothing on any area of the team, not just the defence. You could say the summer under Coyle we spent all our budget on a defender in Williams... It's all very odd. What I do know is if we don't sign at least 1 by Friday, we are fooked.

I wouldn't say 1 signing would be crazy. I think Sharpe means there won't be a flurry of activity, ins and outs.

Funnily though, we bet all 3 of them last season... -

Ya, it was an awful substitution.Wrong player on, wrong player off, wrong position. Reminded me of something Martin O'Neill would have done. Not good. -

Well , in fairness, Lenihan and Willams looked far, far better than Lenihan and Mulgrew. I hope the city lad gets in beside Lenihan too. -

Got the Brereton deal done in fairness...I wouldn't rule a deal out either day. I wouldn't rule one in either though -

Ya, I think in Mowbrays head the plan was for Lenihan and Williams to be first choice, with Bauer, Mulgrew and Tosin as back ups. The Bauer deal falling through, Williams getting injured and Tosin signing late meant Mulgrew was back in. I reckon if we got an offer for Mulgrew , he would leave. Stripping him of the captaincy and not selling him could disrupt the camp a bit. It would be easier to do it if a new manager came in. I do believe that Tony has money for a deadline day bargain. No doubt players could cost millions less than they did a month earlier. Then again I was 100% sure he would start Rothwell the weekend too..... -

Honestly, I think it would be Kean all over albeit with a nicer man involved. I think the frustration would be the same. They wouldn't sack him even if we went down. He would have to walk. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.... -

Didn't something similar happen last season around this time to the tune of around £6 million? Hopefully we are going to spend £9 million on a defender so ? -

I think there could be something more from a numbers viewpoint. Mowbray always goes on about "being fair to players". If another club doesn't want Mulgrew for example, he probably looks at it and thinks that he can't really have 5 Cbs and never play some players. Obviously this approach is bad and a total cop out The thing is we have a few players that I don't think there would be much interest in that we could really do with moving on. To be honest, who knows, our recruitment is unbalanced to put it very mildly. -
This would be my team. Yes, risky putting Downing left-back, but would he really be any worse defensively than Bell? Dack needs to get the finger out too or I would get Rothwell or Buckley in the middle. I am afraid Dack is now coasting as a championship footballer, happy enough with tipping away. I don't really rate Armstrong, but on the counter he is good and I think that's what this game will be. Walton Nyambe Lenihan Tosin Downing Travis Johnson Armstrong Dack Rothwell Brereton
