  1. Fair points, but to be honest i didn't think he was that bad against Villa. Looked out of position, but won a few in the air, showed some nice touches and flicked on Mulgrews cross that we eventually scored from. i suppose its all about perspective. Jesus, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be putting him on the wing again though
  2. Who could we have signed in our budget that moved during the window that ticked those boxes? I would like the same, but nobody springs to mind!
  3. As Mowbray said, it's best ignore the price tag. Doesn't do anyone any favors judging him on that Now, we could all have an opinion on whether the £7 million(or whatever it is) could have been spent elsewhere, but that's a separate discussion. When you factor in the full package, including wages , I haven't seen a striker suggested that I thought "mmm, ya, that would have made more sense". The fee is high, but some real tat moved for more.
  4. Well they should calm down with their doubts because they have only seen him play for 30 minutes, on the wing It doesn't make sense
  5. No ones getting wound up. I just think people who are judging him this early are wrong in doing so
  6. Ah come off it now, thats a silly point. I have watched Armstrong a load of times. You can't compare it to people judging Brereton after 30 minutes on the wing. I backed up my viewpoint with the reasons why I thought it. Hardly the same as someone saying Brereton is the new Kevin Davies
  7. There is no problem, I just disagree with them. The main reason being that you mention technical abilities , those being critical usually don't go that deep. It's vague "waste of money" "why spend 7 million on an academy player" "new Kevin Davies" "type of stuff. If they gave reasons why they thought this , I would say fair enough
  8. Of course they are entitled to say what they want, but thinking they know enough about a player after 30 minutes out of position is stupid. Every player can have a bad game. Obviously there is no authority to say how many games you need to watch a player before judging them ,but calling them "the new Kevin Davies" after a 30 minute cameo on the wing is a bit overly critical would you not think? I agree that some can never tell, I think that's the point Yet their go to reaction is a negative one
  9. Reed looks to have more about him than Smallwood, but I can understand why Reed isn't straight in....yet
  10. Could be a crucial point come the end of the season. Watched the highlights there, my God we were under the kosh. It reminded of the time Ireland drew 0-0 in Russia and Richard Dunne got man of the match(they should have given him 2 man of the match awards) , Lenihans performance wasn't quite that legendary, but not far off it! Ireland supporters will know the game I am talking about. http://www.the42.ie/richard-dunne-russia-2011-2966611-Sep2016/
  11. He is being written off. I have seen a couple of tweets from Rovers fans saying he is the "new Kevin Davies"
  12. I agree he was worth a punt, but as I said, he has a lot to work on!
  13. In a way I can understand Mowbray slowly bringing Brereton into the team. Probably good as well because some fans are freaking out over 30 minutes he played on the wing, can only imagine the meltdown if he plays upfront and has a poor game. All the football message board managers will be on saying we shouldn't have signed him. Having never seen him kick a ball in a game before or in training. Lets judge a guys entire past and future potential on a few minutes ?
  14. I don't see why he can't be a target man. He's a big lad
  15. I agree with the 1st paragraph, but not with the 3 bad for every 1 good bit. More like 50/50. What strikes me is we are starting games with better players on the bench than in the team. Rothwell and Reed in particular, but as you say, where do they play? Palmer will eventually just fill Paynes roll in deputizing for Dack. As for Armstrong, ya, I had my doubts about him and unfortunately they seem to be founded. Not bad at 1.75 million, but he is inconsistent. I mean really inconsistent. He seems on fire in about 1 in 10 games. If Chapman wasn't made of glass, I think he would give us far more on the wing. As for Armstrong playing upfront, he did really well against Carlisle, so I think that tells its own story. I struggle to see him getting much more time upfront. He should get in the gym anyway, Dack is the same size and looks far stronger and more robust on the ball. Thats natural, but Armstrong needs to do something. Being direct without tricks gets found out by full backs very quickly at this level. Imagine if Armstrong played against us and Nyambe was marking him, I couldn't see Armstrong getting much joy there, out muscled and outpaced, without the trickery of someone like Dack or Chapman.
  16. 30 minutes, 30 minutes......The 19 year old has played for 30 minutes. My god there will be a meltdown if he starts and has a poor game Bogvarsson has like 14 goals in 80 games. He looked clumsy to me when we played them. Granted he did finish his 2 gifts well, but he won't get many goals on a plate like that. I would think we have a solid Championship squad. Our results and performances so far , though mixed, would back that up.
  17. I think the most important person we keep is Mowbray. He gives us continuity. The players you mention will be hard to replace, but if Mowbray left I would be very worried. The thing is we can talk about Dack and whoever else, but if Mowbray gets us even top 10, I would say there will be interest in him. He had a long term plan and the players are playing for him big time. If he was to leave, less reason for the likes of Dack to stay too. A lot of good work would be undone
  18. I don't see any issues with Grahams fitness. In fact he looks in great shape recently. No sure about the knee thing, first I have heard of it. We know your opinion on lads over 29 anyway Chaddy. You want them put out to pasture
  19. 30 minutes on the wing. Let's not judge the lad just yet. Jesus, what will happen if he plays up front and has a bad game. Fans need perspective here. I take the point that 7 million is a lot to spend for a player who doesn't come straight into the team, but the price tag isn't Breretons fault. He should be given time and support like any young player. I would like to see him centrally against Bournemouth. I think Chaddy was the one saying Graham can't play every game because of his age. Plenty of older lads play every game. Glen Murray plays week in week out in the Premier league and he is 36 or 37. As it stands, we need Graham has to start.
  20. The club instagram shared a video of Raya kicking perfectly in the training center the other day. I wonder how many takes it took. Ah, he's quality, but there is of course room for improvement
  21. Ya, I agree that Mowbray doesnt know his best team. Or maybe he does, but is being loyal to those who got us up. I imagine we will have a different "go to" starting 11 in 5 games times
  22. I don't know if it will be a good platform. We will probably lose Dack, plus the momentum we had from last season will be gone. I have a feeling this season is really important
  23. To be honest and ye might say I'm naive here or have rose tinted glasses on, but I think we are closer to being a good side in this division than a poor one. My biggest worry is not making the play offs. I'm not concerned about anything else
  24. Mowbray said after the game that its harsh on rothwell as he is playing well in training. Fair enough, but he probably should have been brought on instead of Brereton against villa
