  1. Mogga on BB from the above LT article - "With respect to 19-year-old Ben Brereton he’s not going to go out there and start organising the first line of defence" And, again, there you have it. Mowbray doesn't trust him defensively. Which begs the question, why pay £7m when we don't normally go above £1m? The wider point is Mogga's preferred 1st XI is still full of players he inherited, despite bringing in over 20 new players. His success rate in the transfer market is fairly poor.
  2. What he brings, or rather doesn't bring, to the defensive side of the game, like Chapman, Palmer etc I would imagine. Mowbray's first thought is defensive: Can this player close down, will they track back, will they work hard and run until they drop. He's repeated it often enough. In fairness, he's right. When we are not 'bang at it' as the phrase goes, with our best players on the pitch and all fresh and full of running, we can get picked off quite easily. The question is does Rothwell fit what Mowbray wants or is it still being drilled into him 'on the grass' that he has to run till he drops?
  3. WBA are getting battered 4-0 at home by Derby. You'd think that would have an effect one way or t'other come Saturday.
  4. That was your first mistake...?
  5. That will depend on how many they sell.
  6. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/graham-potter-reveals-message-delivered-15320221 Pretty much what their manager said. Sounds like Mogga got out-thought in the 2nd half, although in fairness he has said he saw it coming and he was going to go to a 3 at the back at half-time but didn't. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/17002585.swansea-city-3-blackburn-rovers-1-tony-mowbray-reaction/?ref=mac
  7. He's nailed Hoddle in his first sentence!
  8. Dack is clever with the ball. He's brilliant at winning free-kicks by using his body, plays some superb through-balls and is a quality dribbler and finisher. He's just not 6ft and a target man like Graham and will never win the headers like Graham does. We play a lot of balls in the air (We are top of the stats for 'long passes' or we were a few weeks ago). which suit Graham not Dack.
  9. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/swansea-city/11533816/swansea-3-1-blackburn Dreadful defending for all three goals. Rodwell's attempt at closing down the first was Lowe-esque. Mulgrew just trundling about for the 2nd. They just all gave up for the 3rd.
  10. Graham is key for us because we play in a way that suits a striker like him. Dack. as good as he is, isn't going to win the knock-downs when the ball is hoofed up to him. Another concern is how few goals we score from open play - only about 10 of our 17 so far. We either don't create enough chances or we don't take those chances. Dack seems to be missing his one good chance per game at the moment.
  11. True. Good goal scorer though.
  12. So negative. In Mowbray We Trust.
  13. Oh well. We aren't good enough to be winning every week, but tonight shouldn't take away from the good start to the season. I worry if we have to rely on a defence with Lenihan missing for any length of time. That would be a disaster in this league.
  14. I hope Lenihan is no too badly injured. We don't have a proper defender back there at the moment …. ust nice footballers.
  15. never tempt fate.. especially when it comes to Rovers.
  16. you'll look a tW@t if we don't win.
  17. Thanks. So Bennett hasn't gone off with a hamstring? Not watching it.
  18. He didn't 'dominate' games in League 1, he just happened to be very good when he rec'd the ball and when presented with chances. He still is. However, recently, he's missed a few (Derby, Leeds) and so it looks like he's off the boil a bit. Although he's getting man-marked by better players this season he's still getting the chances. In fairness to the lad we aren't a 'FL's Derby' who will create countless chances due to having some quality ball players. We've scored very few from open play at home this season. In other teams he's get far more chances and have to do far less work defensively. IMO.

  20. I thought someone said Chapman went off injured again a couple of weeks back with another hamstring.
