  1. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/aug/30/jose-mourinho-saint-bob-lord-burnley-provocation Always a classy club.? One of the comments under the article:- "He wasn't the only one - Harry Catterick hated the BBC and his young Everton team being subject to scrutiny. He more or less banned them from interviewing players and was reluctant to have MOTD cameras at Goodison. ' "He did not want rival managers to be given an armchair view of how Everton played". Some argue that this antagonism towards the BBC in particular led to the paucity of footage that exists of the great Everton sides of the 1960s and the BBC was not quick to forgive. In fact, you could argue Catterick hated all media intrusion (including print journalism) and did his best to rile the media at every opportunity. E.G. He'd name his team in alphabetical order instead of in numerical in order to puzzle rival managers into wondering who exactly would be playing where. One final point, the World just wasn't as 'touchy feely' as it is now. An example from my own youth was the first dead body I ever saw of a bloke badly mangled by a stranding machine. The elderly ambulance driver asked me to help him find one of the victim' s feet (which had been trapped and ripped off). When I tearfully declined and then dry heaved myself into a collapsed heap, he said to me something like this: 'Son, get yourself together, you're not helping him, he's beyond it and you're not helping me - get some sawdust to soak up the blood - when you've shovelled what's left of the crew of a brewed up Sherman into a bucket - shit like this doesn't bother you any more" He explained Different times indeed. I'm glad I missed them"
  2. Is that not where Derbyshire went?
  3. Burnley fans eat moussaka with their feet.
  4. Same, no matter how much I like a Trimm Star.
  5. They've let her out again.
  6. what did he say in response?
  7. Apparently they are called 'opinion' pieces. Clickbait is another description for it. But you're right, Ewood is a much happier place than it's been for a long time. The manager is universally liked (for the first time since Hughes probably), the fans can identify with the players and we watch some genuine talent who actually look like they want to play for the club. But that wouldn't make a good article for someone who see's himself as the arbiter of all that is righteous at BRFC. Ironically.
  8. He's a lickspittle. He wouldn't get a column in the LT otherwise.
  9. Where do you sit? I never see you commenting on matches, just the transfers.
  10. Most people understand that. It's the '7 attackers' that is nonsense.
  11. You're just a troll. Bye Saxo.
  12. if you think we play with 7 attackers then I don't think there is much point continuing. You've obviously never watched Rovers since the 1950's. "I like to play 2.5 attackers with Dack being the half" - T Mowbray August 2018. You can even listen to him saying it here: https://t.co/9ZxQQCg8Gn Vague? Pah!
  13. I doubt Forest would see it that way. They aren't going to take all the risk which they would be if they can't back out but we can.
  14. No Forest can't back out of it.
  15. This was a tweet by the Nottingham Posts answer to Rich Sharpe when questioned what the 'option' meant:- 'To be clear... Brereton will make the move permanent in January. It's not an option NFFC can opt out of. But there are numerous future clauses involved that could work in their favour, if he is a success at Ewood Park' Whether Rovers have the 'option' to 'opt out; is another matter but you would presume they can't if Forest can't.
  16. £10 tickets. Waggott will work it out one day. The increase in ST's from last season to this must be pretty embarrassing for him considering the atmosphere round the club is the best it's been for nearly 10 years, and the fact it's on the back of a promotion.
  17. Mowbray said earlier in the week Armstrong should be fit for BCFC. He also said Dack might not.
  18. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/august/mowbrays-delight-at-brereton-deal/ Wise words from Mogga/Jagger about not burdening him with the beast of burden. Also:- I see raw talent," said the manager to iFollow Rovers following the 4-1 victory over the Imps."He's six foot three, he can travel with the ball, he can dribble, he can power past people, he can run without it, he can create, he can cross, he can shoot, he can affect football matches" That's what he looks like on those YouTube clips. Not really a finisher (yet) but he can do things no-one else at the club can since Chapman left.
  19. Hopefully a few more will be sold on the back of Brereton's signing.
  20. http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11484631/blackburn-4-1-lincoln Highlights.
  21. Thanks for that and thanks to @meadows for taking the time to answer! Good luck to the Imps for the season. Hope you get promoted.
  22. Brereton speaks! https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/august/ben-excited-for-the-future-at-rovers/
  23. Tough one to call. The back four seems settled until Williams and Rodwell get up to speed. Reed is vying with Smallwood and Evans for the 2 defensive midfield roles with the possibility of Rodwell and Rothwell playing there too. We now have a multitude of options for the '3' in behind the lone striker. It's worth repeating that Mogga sees Bennett as one of those '3' and Dack will be another so it's one from Rothwell, Brereton, AA & Palmer (& Conway & Samuel). Up front it's one from Graham, Brereton & Armstrong (& Samuel & Nuttall). A pretty remarkable turnaround in playing staff from where the club was at the beginning of last summer. Mowbray has done an incredible job really.
