  1. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/april/new-deal-for-nyambe/ Reading the thread I'd forgotten what a big fan JAL was.
  2. It's in the transfer thread as well. That's not appropriate either. I'm going to resurrect his own thread and pop it in there too. All angles covered!
  3. Sorry, not sure what your point is?
  4. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/april/under-23s-to-play-at-anfield-on-new-date/ U23's last game of the season moved to Anfield this Sunday @ 4pm. It will be good for them to host a Premier League winning club and rub shoulders with the big guns.
  5. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/april/new-deal-for-nyambe/ Well-deserved but he needs to push on again next season. I think he's stalled a bit in the last 6 months. He was excellent at the start of the season. Surprised it's only 2 years at his age if the club rate him.
  6. Interesting comments from Travis in the LT yesterday: "My main job though is to keep the ball circulating, look for Dacky (Bradley Dack), Arma (Adam Armstrong) and (Joe) Rothwell because they are the dangermen.” I think it was Evans or Smallwood who said something similar last season i.e. Mowbray likes his central midfielders to sit deep and 'recycle possession'. Reed isn't that type of player, he's a bit more forward thinking, which is probably why he didn't play more in the middle. Watching Buckley yesterday I don't see him as a sitting midfielder either, he looked more the Reed type. Interesting then to see who Mowbray signs for CM this summer (Talk in the LT today that he still wants a CM) Interesting to see who leaves too. As it stands we've got Evans/Smallwood/Travis/Buckley/Rodwell competing for two CM (really DM) positions. I think one and possibly 2 of Rodwell/Evans/Smallwood will leave if Mowbray can get rid.
  7. Sheff Utd wanted Lenihan last summer. He's just had a good season in the Championship so I'd be very surprised if they don't still want him, even when they go up. Absolute monster of a defender. If he gets injured next season for a month or two again the team needs to be able to function. That's why we need another CB. Without him we're back to Williams/Mulgrew/Wharton/Magloire. Next to Lenihan some of them would be OK (well, maybe just Williams ATM). The problem comes when he's not there. Williams and Magloire anyone? Mulgrew and Wharton? Nah, me neither, so we need one and possibly two good Championship CB's.
  8. Don't be sensitive. I called him the new Rooney. And not the one at Salford.
  9. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17590296.how-the-rovers-players-rated-in-the-win-over-bolton/ Rothwell MOTM? He was better 2nd half but he gave the ball away a lot, although he was normally trying to do something positive with it when he did. Frightening burst of pace though if he can get in the right positions to do it. No-one will catch him if hew gets away.
  10. True. I've never seen a bigger round of applause for a professional footballer trapping the ball, holding it up and laying it off as he got early in the 1st half. Everyone in that ground who wasn't a trotter was willing him to do well.
  11. Which is what I alluded to by saying he created the right environment.
  12. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/competitions/league-two/11701052/grimsby-1-0-carlisle Joe Grayson got the winner for Grimsby yesterday.
  13. Williams has certainly been an improvement on Mulgrew but I'm not sure I'd get that excited yet. Just after we scored our 2nd yesterday Bolton went straight back up the other end and nearly scored as Williams completely lost his man. Only a save form Leuty stopped them scoring. We still need another 1st choice CB.
  14. That's not bravery, anyone can say that. Bravery is dropping your favourites, being ruthless and getting better players. Bravery is also not playing with two holding DM's and not attacking teams at home. As Chris Wilder said, you don't win anything going sideways and back. I look forward to Mowbray's brave new world nest season.
  15. What, the biggest budget in L1 and being allowed to keep all the players he wanted from the Championship team? Some problems. His skill was in creating an environment where those players could thrive (eventually) and get the club promoted.
  16. We were going forward before Venky's sold all the players. And the comments I've read from BCFC fans (from the same forum as you the ONE post about making them worse is there near the top of the Bowyer thread) suggest they blame the players. They are going to judge him on next season with his own squad. We can do that with Mowbray too, as long as his 'human qualities' allow him to replace the players he's loyal to with some quality Championship additions. I remember Bowyer doing that here, buying quality players than made the club a lot of money because he was good in the transfer market. 72 and 67 points in Bowyers only two full seasons in charge after saving us from the drop. Mowbray couldn't even save us from the drop, let alone get 72 Championship points the season after. Silly point about 'levels' of football too. Mowbray's last job before us saw him rock bottom of League 1, like Bowyer is now. The difference being Mowbray took Cov there, Bowyer found Bradford there.
  17. Nothing gets past you so I'll look forward to it's unveiling.
  18. I have a feeling him and Mulgrew may be on their way if someone will take them.
  19. Grey with Yellow trim may look quite good.
  20. Sheff Utd were by far the best team to come to Ewood this season.
  21. Butterworth is the fair haired lad who came on last.
