The outcome of the managerial search will have a huge bearing on the reaction now. Act quickly and regardless of the choice there would be at least some who would applaud the signs of a plan in place. However, if they're truly going through 100-150 applicants, taking weeks and then we still end up with someone like Boa Morte and Boeteng, it would be clear that there is no real effort to push on. With a long time to consider, and a long list of applicants, there should be no excuse for not getting a top candidate. Of course, this is Venky Rovers, so who knows.

I wonder if Eustace going might ironically be the thing that saves our play-off challenge. Players seem to be on another level this week compared to January. -

I must confess, whilst we've definitely not "invested significantly" it does seem that the players that have been brought in could really a play a part in this run-in. At least compared to some of the names that have been banded about on Eustace's wish-list, they seem like better options. -

It's clear (and not at all surprising) that we've signed a bunch of players who aren't fit enough because they haven't played in ages. I think we're going to struggle but the bench could make a difference if we don't let the game get away from us. -
Surely no way Lowe can take it for the rest of the season, not just because he has zero managerial experience bit also because we're short two coaches as well. No serious club would even consider it, so we'll probably do it.
-
I'm more amazed that there seems to be no real rumours of note. That's either a good or a bad thing. Not really enamoured with most of the names though. I'd be offering Cooper a 3 month contract and a massive bonus on promotion but that's just me.
-
I'd imagine any respectable club keeps a list of managers together just in case there is a change at the top. To be fair, I seem to recall us being relatively fast in the past with mid-season changes(Eustace, Mowbray, Lambert etc) but I could be mistemembering.

He could have said "I was aware of an approach on Friday, but I wanted to finish preparing for the Wolves game and will speak to the board about it afterwards", or probably another 50 different things that kept his stock with the fans. Instead, he lied to their face and it's hard to argue with the crowd calling him a snake, regardless of the off field issues.
-
Honestly I'm glad it's done, time to move on. Everybody has handled this badly except the players and fans. Thanks for the memories, but I hope you're in League One next season John!

Turns out Eustace was holding Big Mak back this whole time...
-
His exit not being announced is less perplexing than the complete absence of information on who is taking tonight's game! Absolute circus 🎪

Let's be honest, Pompey were robbed a bit by some pretty poor refereeing decisions - could have easily gone the other way. Get your overall ppint though.
-
When do Rovers ever beat a team at the bottom with such a wretched record though? It's got a Plymouth win all over it, even if we had JE.
-
It's bizarre that it's not been sorted yet, and if he can't agree with Derby I have no idea what we do at that point. He can't leave to talk to another club, miss a crucial game against a team just below us and then waltz back in. Presumably it would also cost us money to fire him too, so I'd be amazed if that happened. It's all a complete and total clown show.
-
Eh, I think that has far more to do with fixture congestion, heavy injuries and the board never signing players until deadline day if I'm honest, though the mentality of the coach doesn't help of course.
-
I mean there are multiple things that can be true at once. The board are definitely at fault for fostering a situation where the manager is courting other clubs. We don't know what was agreed and whilst we as fans agree the window wasn't good enough it's impossible to know what was discussed prior. JE is allowed to move to another club if he so wishes, but equally the way it's been done has been disrespectful to the fans and to the players. Some people talking about taking our players - that's assuming they even stay up. Even under JE we were atrocious for a lot of last season and it was only in the last 3 or 4 games including some against teams playing for nothing that we scraped over the line. I'll thank him for his hard work, but like he has no loyalty to us, I have no real loyalty to him either. I wanted him gone after last season, he won me around with some hard work this season, but I won't shed any tears if he drops to League One with Derby.
-
He was never managing them tonight, probably will be unveiled then though.
-
I saw someone say "time to get a manager in who can solve the annual post Christmas slump". If it happens under 3 different managers in a row, it's probably no the manager that is the problem! Absolute planks. That said, no side comes out of this come out clean, apart from the fans, who are put through the ringer again.
-
I saw someone on facebook try to claim Mowbray had less money to spend than JDT and JE and my jaw hit the floor. I find it hard to believe some of them have eyeballs.
-
After the board statement yesterday I don't think there's any possible way back. That was a "don't let the door hit you in the arse" if I ever saw one.
-
Johson and Lowe are in charge for WBA as it stands afaik
-
Wasn't he basically paying Derby and Plymouth to manage them? I think even we can do better than that. Hard, hard pass though.
-
I agree, free hit for them. If Swag has anything about him he'd go for someone with a bit of pedigree and say "15 games, get us up and the job's yours, we don't go up and you can choose to walk away."
-
Cooper's Championship win percentage will be much higher, the PL campaign will skew it a bit. In addition, has a 45% win rate at Swansea before that. Very, very good manager at this level.
-
I expect most managers just give general instructions to their agents and they do the work, giving the manager plausible deniability if it doesn't go through. With the speed this is moving there is no way he wasn't waiting for the call.
