  1. Congratulations Mike, thrilled for you. Hot on your heals, another Darwen Blue is due at the back end of next week, with the impending birth of our first grandchild. Darwen Blues We are here woah, woah..............
  2. Yep, AAA, we could definitely do with a piece of that instead of fecking Mary Berry taking HT talks! "Look like you want to play for THE ROVERS!!!"
  3. A decent track record in terms of promotions 'Colin' certainly has. If I gave him a tenner to buy something for me for £8.99, he'd give me no change and tell me that it really cost a score!
  4. Better still: "Waggott, accompany your mate Mowbray through the door and take all your 'Boro dead legs with you, you useless two hat!"
  5. NOT by the ground staff, I must stress vehemently!! They can only work within the hand, budget and tools that they are dealt. This was in total contradiction to their recommendations. The buck stops between them and the owners: join the dots! It pisses me off that people think otherwise. It's not bloody fair!!
  6. It'll be called off tonight boys, nailed on! Mercer if you want a punt on the outcome, I'll lay your odds!
  7. I liked Sparks suggestion the other day: Souness or Sparky as DOF to provide the necessary support and guidance to develop Johnno as Manager, Duffer as Assistant Manager/Coach and Shay Given as Goalkeeping Coach (Is that bigdog over in the corner, 'lobbing one off' at the prospect!). I feel that set up would certainly get supporters' juices flowing.
  8. An average of 2 points per game between now and the end of the season would see us on 77 points. Normally more than adequate to secure a play off spot. The season is far from over if the nettle is grasped now.
  9. Dunno bazza but hopefully we may be able to find out, one way or t'other...........😉 Oh, I almost forgot: WE ARE The Rovers!!!
  10. Your first ever post I note. Are you perhaps the club lemon drizzle cake manufacturer?
  11. It did NOT get as far as even being discussed in India, as I believe. The ultra low cost option was included in budgetary planning submissions allegedly, by the "what do I know about football, you could write it on a postage stamp, brigade!" I do not believe that the owners are culpable in any way, save for the fact they saw fit to employ the current incumbents idiots. Hopefully it's another lesson learned the hard way.
  12. I'll throw another 'thinking outside of the box' idea for consideration: Rovers to assist organise (and possibly subsidise) a series of bus services for home games, running from pubs throughout the region in order to capitalise on the potential of 'out of town' support. Yeh, more plastics from nobber country! Pubs will be crying out for any innovative idea to boost customers post Covid restrictions too. 1. Starting in Bury/Radcliffe/Whitefield, calling in Ramsbottom, Egerton and potentially any overspill in Darwen, en route to Ewood. 2. Starting in Rochdale ( @Tyrone Shoelaces to be the first customer!), calling in Whitworth, Bacup, Waterfoot, Rawtenstall, Haslingden en route to Ewood. 3. Starting in Clitheroe, calling in Whalley, Langho, Brownhill, Lammack en route to Ewood. 4. Starting in Preston, calling at Leyland, Bamber Bridge, Chorley etc en route to Ewood. 5. Us Darreners will look after ourselves thank you, having done this for over 30 years, without subsidy! I'd estimate the costs of each to be in the region of £200/£250 each bus maximum, fully costed, without subsidy. Charge £4 to £6 each adult and 50p/£1 for kids, return. Obviously not written in tablets of stone, routes, prices etc. but you get the general gist of the idea. What are your thoughts?.....
  13. Fair point rigger, I really hope you are wrong for a multitude of more important reasons other than Rovers season ticket sales. On the assumption that there are no Covid restrictions in August, in principal, what would your thoughts be?
  14. Completely different gig Hoochie, you're right though. I'm not saying he may not be ultimately capable but just to dump him into the position, without the requisite support and guidance (learning the ropes of managing highly entitled men if you like) would be planning to fail in my opinion.
  15. I'll be joining you with a fine Chablis! I could also second guess the reasons for signing so many 'Boro cast offs (duffers) in the knowledge of Neil Warnock's extra curricular activities!
  16. More to do with delivery of something involving one of the club 'governors' tossers, at the time!
  17. Shagnew to thank for that! I guess you're talking about Steve Patrick?
  18. I accept that could well be an option: short term caretaker role until the end of the season, with an option to make it permanent should he prove to be successful and retention as First Team Coach, should he not. My opinion was merely based on observations from the few occasions that I have actually met Damien. I don't feel his personality lends itself to being 'Gaffer'. To use a simple logistics analogy: Very often, an excellent delivery driver is promoted to a position of a supervisory/managerial role based upon their abilities as a driver, without much thought being given to their skillset as being suitable to manage people. Clearly it's very different from being a highly skilled and competent driver. More often than not, nobody gives the new appointee any support or guidance in the new role and they fail unsurprisingly in the majority of cases. Given that our scenario is not dissimilar, who is going to give Damien the necessary support and guidance he would undoubtedly need to make the transition from coach to manager? Should he fail, and I suspect he would, does he then become the 'next Gary Bowyer' and have to leave the club after many years of excellent service?
