  1. That article in the LT blames the changes in tax rules in India for lack of funding. It then goes on to say that Venky’s had to go to court to get the £11m released to send to the club. I am reliably informed that this will last us until February. At that point it is “hoped” that a precedent has been set and the funds required to keep us afloat until the end of the season are released, but what if they are not. A recent article in the Indian press (a link to which has previously been posted on here) points out that illegal payments have been made by Venky’s from 2010 to date. Maybe that as opposed to tax changes has reduced the funding. As most know on here, property has been seized by the Enforcement Directorate, that Venky’s own in India. Given that article does not have an alleged in it and also says 2010 to date, my worry is that there are still on going questions being asked about the funding. It may not be as straightforward as it sounds getting more funding released, which would lead to some really big issues. Bragging about paying wages on time and buying a new bus, could well have a hidden message.
  2. I know for a fact that given that the whole of the Darwen end would sell out, despite the £47 per ticket meant it was more important that the £150K to be made on this, was more important than a cheaper ticket for the away fixture for Rovers fans. I was told categorically that “We could not afford to discount the tickets and lose £40K”.
  3. I won’t be using my season long pass until I get back to Spain next Monday. I have Re-Registered but find it incredible that I had to find out how to on here. It’s another big own goal by the club, not getting the communication on this right.
  4. Terrific this and a great opportunity to show the decision makers at the club, that they have the pricing wrong. Get the match day and season ticket prices right and we will get supporters back.
  5. All looks okay to me now, having Re-registered. It is easier to log in now too, so hopefully the problems we have encountered are a thing of the past. Good luck logging on for those watching form abroad tomorrow (which I normally do from Spain) but I am back for a few days, so will be there in person tomorrow. COYB.
  6. It’s my Grandsons first away game so hope we can win for him. My son is going too, so three generations of us. Looking forward to the game and flying in from Spain on Wednesday.
  7. I couldn’t name 50 prem players never mind 95% of them.
  8. In a lot of ways, the premier league are largely to blame for what is going on here. How can they introduce financial fair play, but then effectively allow states to own certain clubs. Just using Newcastle, as an example, they are owned by the Saudi Arabian public investment fund, who in turn own 4 teams in the Saudi pro league. There is no financial fair play in that league. It has already been rumored that they will start to loan players from those clubs and that is already being scrutinised. Should they start to look like falling foul of FFP they could simply sell one of their current players to one of those clubs for an inflated price and ensure it is enough to bring them back in line. When you look at the premier league accepting Abramovic and his money (which now appears to be from dubious means) as fit and proper, you have to say they have made a rod for their own backs. In truth if the likes of City and Chelsea were properly investigated it would be thank you and good night to both of them, if they got a proportionate penalty. Where this ends who knows, but both Leicester and Burnley are both seeking compensation from the premier league and who knows who else will jump onto the bandwagon. It is one hell of a mess.
  9. There is no way in this world that they will back him with £100m per transfer window. I expect very little inward activity in January.
  10. I’ve been through a divorce myself so know how that feels. It’s very trying and would test the resolve of the most positive of people. Its very tough to live through certain things and I wish the clarets lad all the best. There are certainly much more important things in life than football rivalries, as you say.
  11. It’s a common fault that with the website. I understand it is currently being upgraded, so that will hopefully sort it out.
  12. It seems we were very close to the edge without this £11.5 million coming in. The closure of the Blackburn end was down to cashflow, so that's how serious this is.
  13. I have to say, I admire the fact that you support your local team and place of birth. That's exactly why I support the Rovers. From at he age of seven I was taken to a game, when we were in the old third division and have loved the club ever since. I grew up with some of my school friend supporting the likes of Leeds, Liverpool and Man U despite all of them being Blackburn lads, so never quite understood it. I can proudly say, I am a Blackburn lad and have not got my son and Grandson both following the club and hopefully both still will, long after my passing. There is nothing wrong with supporting your home town team and fair play for you coming on here and saying so, Enjoy the match tonight.
  14. I do wonder if that's agents commission for players, or maybe for the bridging loan. It seems far too high to be for players.
  15. The lad who came on for him, scored their equalizer. Brereton has still not scored a single goal.
  16. As Arbitro pointed out on the match day thread, a lot of the refs have a huge ego and that was my biggest concern. I don’t know whether he held his hand up or not to help to get this overturned, but thankfully it was and it makes the defence a good deal stronger on Friday.
  17. Like others have already posted, he was a real super fan. I didn’t know him personally, but certainly knew who he was and saw him on many occasions up and down the country watching Rovers. The thing I remember him most for, is being in the opening credits on match of the day with his Rovers flat cap on. Rovers were a huge part of his life and something definitely needs to be done on Friday to mark his passing. If the club don’t do anything official, then the fans certainly need to. Maybe a big picture of him with that flat cap on, displayed on the big screen before the match or a rendition of there’s only one Alan Birkbeck sang on 18 and 75 minutes. A mention by the sky commentary team too, would be fitting. Fans like him are once in a lifetime. RIP Birdy.
  18. I would be surprised if he ever gets back to the level he did, when he hit the 24 for us. His level is championship, so La Liga was always a step too far. If he ends up in the prem he won’t cut it. He may score a few at somewhere like WBA but think even double figures will be difficult.
  19. It’s the people (myself included) who have paid for the games on Rovers TV. Looks like it won’t be available on Friday.
  20. I would imagine anyone who has played or managed at a decent level who vote against that being a red. In real time, I didn't think it was and now that I have seen a fee replays, it definitely wasn't. Is the ref allowed to hold his hands up and admit it was a mistake, to help the situation?
  21. I got an invite to the annual premature ejaculation society dinner dance and I called the venue beforehand to check the dress code. I was told to just come in my pants. 🙂
