  1. Shipped out to a club so desperate, they are flogging 10 year season tickets. Dont tell Waggott though, or we will start selling 15 year ones.
  2. If JDT does not fancy him, then he doesn’t pick him. I guess that then makes him a pointless signing. The truth of the matter is, if things are still being run in the same way that they have in the past, then he might be made to play certain players. I keep on hoping things have changed, but it seems like they never do.
  3. He got clattered when he bravely headed a dangerous ball away.
  4. I remember it well. Sweet revenge arrived later, as we sent them home with their tails between their legs. I think that win put us top and we stayed their until the end of the season after that. My first taste of promotion, as a fan.
  5. As JDT is at pains to point out in his interviews, he is as much in the dark as the fans. With the radio silence at the club, ever since the owners arrived, there is very little chance of anything other than the same again.
  6. They all arrived on the train actually. Not too sure if it was subsidised, but for some reason, it arrived early morning and all their fans went on the rampage in the town centre. You are quite right about the green paint.
  7. I am hardly surprised you became hooked. For that game to be your very first is amazing. I bet your Dad thought you were the lucky charm.
  8. Absolutely. I had never seen anything like it, at the time.
  9. Although it was at Ewood, the 1975 match always comes to mind when we play Plymouth. It remains the most enjoyable match I have ever seen in my life. Hope we can repeat the score line, although this site might go into meltdown, if the scoring sequence follows the same pattern. Those who were there, will know what I mean.
  10. Cheers for that. Sounds nasty that. I had to leg breaks in my time and luckily managed to get over both and carry on playing. I am pretty sure I will have played against you for West End, against both Lower Chapel and Marsh House. I can't remember playing Darwen Olympic, but definitely played against the other two sides you played for.
  11. I probably played against you, as I played for West End CYC for around 15 years. Sorry to hear about the injury, did it mean you missed the final on Ewood? I don't know Dave personally, but certainly remember playing against him. Pass on my condolences, when you next speak to him.
  12. I remember paying against him a few times over the years, including the 1987 Eddleston cup final on Ewood Park. He will be beside himself, with what has happened. I have two of my own around the same age. Awful news.
  13. I think I know who Matt's Dad is. Did he play for Marsh House in Blackburn combination in the late 80's early 90's?
  14. Both great players in that era. One chant your Dad will remember. Tony Field, superstar, how many goals have you scored so far?
  15. He does seem to be making a rod for his own back. I agree that he has his limitations, but effort and enthusiasm, can make up for that. Some of the recent petulance though and his reluctance to sign his new deal, leaves me thinking, he believes he is better than he is. Perhaps he needs to take stock and have a reality check. He was rejected by PNE and Rovers rescued him, so is it time for him to repay some of that faith shown in him, back.
  16. I see what you mean. No idea why, perhaps there is some connection to the armed forces in his family, or some other meaning. It remind me a bit of what Patrick McNee’s character did the the avengers.
  17. It’s days like this that make following BRFC, the nicest hobby in the world. Everyone working hard, sticking to a game plan and showing that bit of quality, when needed. JDT has a style about him, both in terms of his coaching and what he says to the press and in essence, the hierarchy at the club, through the press. He has instilled both style and character and a real sense of togetherness in the players. I thought Hyam and Carter were magnificent today, Pears did everything asked of him and Wharton is just a real gem. The goal was worthy of winning the match and the start is now a decent one. I always thought the result was key today and I’m delighted we did it. Time to enjoy a beer and catch up with my daughter, son in law and Grandson, who are out to see me, for a holiday. COYB.
  18. Nerves kicking in now, as even thought it’s early days, a win gets the tails up and it’s let’s crack on time and a defeat, would perhaps be a bad dent to an early season optimism. As usual with Rovers games, the first goal will be crucial.
  19. We got some rain yesterday for about an hour. Lovely again now, but a bit windy. You should find a bar showing it.
  20. Pre season too. He is not going to shine in La Liga.
  21. He started the most recent match and was subbed around 15 minutes form time. Villarreal get first win of the season thanks to Gerard Moreno’s goal against RCD Mallorca Villarreal can smile. The Submarine got their first win of the season with a 0-1 victory over RCD Mallorca thanks to a goal from Gerard Moreno, who became the club’s all-time top scorer (107 goals), surpassing Adriano García. Good news all round. The biggest novelties in Quique Setién’s XI were the Italian centre-back Matteo Gabbia and the Anglo-Chilean striker Brereton Díaz. Both made their debuts in official matches and were in the starting line-up.
