Venky’s v Indian Government (a)
lraC replied to tomphil's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Money laundering can be investigated cross border. Not certain if this is the case here, by any stretch of the imagination, but think it’s a serious matter, when property is being seized. -
Be careful of slipping on the steps coming out and if I were you, I would print any previews of the films out before you go, as they have stopped doing programmes.

It seems they misrepresented the activities of their business to the state bank of India. This can seem quite trivial, but, if you are obtaining funding that way, it is a very serious offence. Obtaining money by deception/ mortgage fraud. -

At Reading there was non payment of taxes and wages . For the authorities to be trying to enforce a sale of a club requires there to be very serious infractions - not dissatisfaction from supporters. I don't think that a court case and an article in the Indian Press, suggesting illegal remittances , can really be described as dissatisfaction from supporters to be honest. Yeah. I am sure some will be pro and some will be anti ED. Amazing that we are hear as Rovers fans, discussing Indian court cases. Never the Twain. -

Sounds like the ED are gunning for them and do not want them really sending anything. That's just my opinion though. -

So, just a short term cashflow problem then and not much for us to worry about? -

I think a poster on here, once trivialised this in the past, but here is an extract from the link posted above. So, assuming the article is accurate the owners have stated that Venky's overseas limited has been declared to the state bank of India, as a business that is trading in agriculture and mining and rearing of ducks and hens amongst other. That sounds to me, pretty much like fraud, but maybe that is an over reaction. The ED’s investigation revealed that VHPL had declared the business of VOL to the Reserve Bank of India as agriculture and mining, including rearing of ducks, hens, among others. No such business activity, however, was ever undertaken by VOL even after the lapse of over 11 years since its incorporation, said the ED sources. -

Not wanting to really start up this impediment argument all over again and it is the last I will EVER say on the matter, but I teach (as a hobby) a Spanish youth some English, so the meaning of certain words, is part of my every day life and does help him with his college work. We regularly refer to both the Oxford and Cambridge dictionaries, for clarification on words, as you can imagine, getting the meaning wrong, and translating it to from English to Spanish and vice versa, can prove to be important. The Oxford Dictionary meanings for both words is below. Inconvenient = A hindrance, trouble or difficulty Impediment = Something that interferes with a process, power or right. -

Impediment means to have a hindrance or obstruction in doing something and that is certainly the case with the bank and the NOC. I think the word inconvenient has a much less stringent meaning, as in, the need to send it to be checked first, before being given the green light. That in my view is inconvenient, but having to add 50% and previously 100% to any funding, in order to send it, is not an inconvenience but a pretty severe impediment. -

I knew you were with it, but hopefully our conversation, has helped some people get a better grasp of it too, as it is a bit miss leading. -

That's stating, the senior counsel for the petitioner (Venky's) want the requirement for a bank guarantee removing. For now it has been reduced to 50% hence two impediments remaining, until considered at an appropriate stage. They have spelt relieved wrong and it reads relived, but that can be forgiven, perhaps. -

Absolutely correct, the No objection certificate (Impediment 1) and the reduced bond (impediment 2) still exist, so it is down to the owners now, to decide if they want to risk more bond money or wait until 03/08/25 and hope the impediments are lifted. My guess is they will send no money until at least that next hearing. -

lraC replied to tomphil's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It’s referring back to when an amount of just over £3.5m was allowed to be sent, but only with a bank guarantee and a no objection certificate (Two impediments). Whats more in interesting now is its now being stated that the club is not under a cloud of suspicion YET (see section 12 below) but also that the ED are against any funds being transferred. In my opinion the earliest they may now be able to send any will be after the hearing on 03/08/25 and I think we are very close to the edge. -

Thanks for posting this. We look in serious danger of running out of money. For those interested, I have posted a snapshot below and invite comments as to who does and who doesn’t consider this to be an impediment to funding, legal or otherwise. -
Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas
lraC replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Absolutely. Perhaps the the coalition can go to the press with it and make it abundantly clear that we are doing this on our own, with no club involvement, purely down to the clubs pathetic attempt at it so far. -
Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas
lraC replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I have stated on here, before that we need to make a fans version of the 150th celebrations, as the clubs ideas so far have been pathetic. In some ways, they have already scored a huge own goal,, as those of us, who remember the centenary season, will be aware that the season 19/74/75 was celebrated that and won promotion from the old third division. There was a rallying cry, before that season started, from within the club, that we would go all out for promotion, which was achieved and one of the best seasons, I remember supporting the club. Once the fixtures are announced, perhaps we can choose the home game closest to the date of the club being formed and maybe get some activities set up around that, such as inviting former players and maybe even getting a celebratory shirt, available from this and other sites, like the retro one that was marketed on here. In the meantime, keep up, the brilliant work it would be an even bigger cause to celebrate the centenary, if we flush this lot out, once and for all. -

Here is an interesting article on football agents. I do sometimes wonder if the club is run for the benefit of agents, rather then the owners and the fans. One that always made me think that was our bargain purchase of Ruben Rochina. Show me the Money: Who should pay the Football Agent and how is it taxed? - The Football Week
