I'm already sick of hearing about Glastonbury. Every ruddy year fb is full of people calling it 'Glasto' (which sounds almost as outdated as the festival itself). They will then spend days telling me how 'it isn't like it used to be' or 'it's gone too corporate' (then buy a Starbucks before work every morning). They'll complain about how muddy it is (Dude, a field with thousands of people in it for 5 days will not stay grassy) and how expensive it is (you are literally a captive market you daft buggers). Solution: Stop going. Meanwhile I have to put up with pics of flower crowns and (when mum forces me to watch Keane or someone similar) watching Jo Whiley's forced enthusiasm when introducing a jazz poet she's never heard of. Sorry, but had to put it somewhere now there's no RANT thread!

I suspect not tbh. You could maybe look at The Hobbit by way of comparison. Nowhere near the appeal of GoT imo. Now Hobbit is most certainly a series of films that do the book no justice at all imo.

Hardly literary masterpieces, I agree but they're a terrific work. I'd argue in the same league as Tolkien for sure. I've had more enjoyment from the whole ASOIAF canon and TV than I ever got from LOTR and I consider myself a fan of that too.

I love autocorrect haha!

Your post could've been summed up as 'Nah, you're lying'. I more meant to mind the way you word things than what you say (same goes for many on here tbh). I need to get off this bloody high horse. It's all this bloody teaching I've been doing grrrr.

Tbf, a lot of things get cut out of books-to-TV adaptations. It's what makes the books so much better everytime.Personally, I understand the fact that they refuse to cast over 1000 characters for a 10-episode series, 'because muneh'. Plus the CGI budget which they already struggle to juggle. No greater source than GRRM himself has said that the books and TV show are different tellings of the same story with the same major plot points. That'll do for me. I've come across my first proper deviation from the books, reading Clash of Kings last night. It isn't Bronn at all that takes Command of the City Watch from Slynt. But it made TV sense. If both stories make sense and tell the same tale, what does it matter that Santa was raped by Ramsay instead of a non-existent Jeyne (who hardly features at all in the books anyway)?

Dude, that's just asking for it.

I just love how weird and sinister he looks. Wasn't keen on those sodding VictorChandler ads he did though.

Yeah Thoros was the other Red Priest. Paul Kaye (who plays him) is who I wanted to replace Matt Smith as Dr Who. Maybe he'll eventually replace Capaldi.
-
I think it'd have been good in a way. But if his last word being 'Ghost' leads to him having warged, it'd translate poorly to TV. Far better is a rebirth in the flames or being 'Thoros and Beric'-ed by Melissandre.

Reading ASOIAF and I have to agree they are so much better than the shows (if one has patience). But Martin and the shoes producers have explained quite a number of times that the series is the definition of 'based on' rather than directly replicating the books. The end point and major plot points are apparently the same (I'm only 150 pages into Clash of Kings).

Stannis vs Snow in a rap battle, yo!
-
Valar Dohaeris. A man caught it OnDemand, a man's apologies.
-
Meh neither Snow, nor Stannis died imo.

Anyone been watching 'No Offence'? I think it's been a brilliant cop series. It's how I imagine cops really are. Or at least I bet it's nearer reality than The Bill.
-
Ah, Tipping Point. My favourite is The Chase purely because of Bradley's laughing when the producers throw in a rogue rude question. Apparently someone is rebuilding The Crystal Maze? Dunno if it's for TV or for stag wknds or something.

Over the years just waiting for a chance, To tell them how we're feeling, maybe get drunk, sing and dance! Now we've got our chance to score and batter those @#/?s Burnley... Burnley, who the @#/? are Burnley?? I don't waste my evenings, eh..... First swear is what Jon Snow is. Second is obvious. To the tune of a famously rude song about a girl called Alice.
-
Wow, what a @#/? of a driver.
-
Never mind 'Think Bike'. Cyclists should be told to 'Think Car'!

Noticed dafabet all over that ring. Never heard of them pre-rovers, but good to know they're legit.

I like Take That and you don't. Gentle ribbing, banter, a laugh or whatever is fine. What I don't understand is why you're telling me to 'get a grip' because a couple of them got involved in a tax avoidance scheme. I just don't know what your point is. I've probably missed it and if I have I'd like you to clarify. Because with my apparent misunderstanding it reads like you're just having a go.
-
Get a grip on what? I'm a fan of a particular band, why are you so uptight about it? If you must know, there a genuine emotional family tie to the band so kindly stop being a prick about it. I don't particularly give a @#/? about their tax-dodging in relation to enjoying their music. Much the same as I find Jimmy Carr quite funny regardless of his tax-dodging. They're good at what they do and it appeals to me. That's about the end of it.

Just good music imo. Reminds me a lot of family members who've passed on for the most part. Also, it's music where I can actually hear the lyrics, perhaps then my deafness actually plays a part?
