  1. I wouldn't mind trying a reverse of that. I still think Dolan could play like Dickov if he developed a mean streak.
  2. Hoppy never taught me, but as a deaf pupil I was one of his 'weekly chat' pupils as part of his Deputy Head (Pastoral) duties. Or so I thought. At a fairly recent OBA reunion, he told me I was only part of his duties for Yr7, and he continued his chats with me every Thursday lunchtime because he knew I was Rovers mad. What a smashing bloke.
  3. Uncultured swines 😅
  4. Not a bad shout. Possibly he and Travis (if improved) could make a relatively combative midfield by our standards.
  5. DJ Campbell. Luckily the loan window saved us an embarrassment.
  6. JRC has the shirt to lose for me
  7. Brilliant. I liked the tense scene where she's explaining to Ryan why he can't live with her anymore, then it's interspersed with how reheatable his tea would be 😂
  8. I felt like they chose the more realistic one, which is why I liked it.
  9. Really interesting, thank you 🙂
  10. Per the above, I imagine it'll partly be: 1. This data looks good, shall we scout this player? 2. This player played well, what data can we find on him? Is it fair of me to assume a player like Mark Harris might be one of part 2 rather than 1, owing to his data as a goalscorer seeming poor? Perhaps he played well in a particular game, and other data not immediately available in that game suggests he could fit a certain style? Or could it be that the scouts and upwards see him being a piece of the team puzzle that gets more out of other players? Or could they think he has the attributes to be improved, ie: a rough diamond? Mind if I ask what your assumption would be about such a signing? No judgement from me, just asking your opinion given you know more than me about potentially relevant/irrelevant data and how might be used to rule players in/out or consideration?
  11. Happy Valley. Perfect. Arise, Dame Sarah Lancashire.
  12. My only hope is that we're trying the Brian Clough route of signing very specific players to do very specific things. Players who flourish in a system, but have thus far gone unnoticed. Certainly not comparing JDT to the great man, but it seems more like a plan than the scattergun 'get whoever we can' that we've had for the last decade, that led to overstacking various positions.
  13. We did though? Undav and Kone.
  14. DJ Campbell famously. Botched at last minute to sign him, ended up getting in the subsequent loan window. Don't know the second one off hand.
  15. I think that if the appeal is successful, he may be more lenient towards whoever made the mistake, so it'd be unfair to go into it prior to that. Or even just wording something verbally in a different way to a submitted appeal argument could affect the outcome of the appeal.
  16. I'm glad you've started posting, love dry humour 😂
  17. My best manager used to describe himself as 'the shit umbrella'.
  18. All more competent people, mind.
  19. Can't explain why this got hidden, as it wasn't at our end (we can always see which mod -or the member themselves- hides a post). Yours simply said 'Hidden'. Any suggestions @J*B @StubbsUK?
  20. Honest opinion: Almost refreshing to get some honesty. Someone at the club has actually accepted responsibility. Glad that Brierley isn't impacted too much and will be here in the Summer. O'Brien, however, I feel desperately sorry for, and I hope we do right by the player as best as we can.
  21. But on Deadline Day, you'd think he'd have priorities straight.
  22. I'm get the feeling he might walk tbh. Doesn't strike me as a people-pleaser, from his dealings with players.
  23. He's right in a sense. It would've been a signing beneath our dignity in the Hughes years.
