  1. Being reported the Thomas Cook collapse could be a big problem for Wolves. Their owners were the biggest single shareholders at 18%. Estimated to be worth 1 billion at one point. The money they have already invested to get to the Prem and stay there, coupled with a 1 billion loss, then the potential of relegation looming. That could turn into a total disaster. Talk about quick changes of fortunes in football. From their awesome season last year, qualification for Europe etc, playing great stuff on the pitch - they could be back in the Champ and bankrupt in 8 months.
  2. I think you've made your point. Repeating it over and over is just going to irritate people. Besides that, it happened 7 weeks ago so you're kind of going over old ground here.
  3. Hey Joe. You appear to have responded to most posts in the thread except this one, that poses some pertinent questions. I think if you were a bit more open and gave answers to these you may find people a bit more accommodating.
  4. Easy - Defenders shielding the ball out. If you don't have possession of the ball and you block another player, it's obstruction. If it's done in the box it should be a penalty. The authorities could stamp it out in a matter of weeks if they wanted. They bleat on about wanting a more attacking game with more goals. And yet it's continued to be allowed for some reason. I mean it's hardly an entertaining spectacle that enhances the spectator experience is it? 2 grown men having a play wrestle over a slowly moving ball. Boils my blood.
  5. Fair play to you. You called it pretty much as it panned out. Luke showed me far more than I thought he had in the locker. And was more durable than I expected. Shambles of a night with all the reffing decisions, but entertaining enough.
  6. Always disappointing to lose. But 3-2 ain't a disaster. Gotta remember we were away to a team that will be top end of table come end of the season. Some winnable games coming up. Our push up the table might hinge on what kind of shape Corry Evans comes back from international duty in.
  7. This is the match thread gents. If you want to have a go at each other, use the DM facility please.
  8. Wow! History made right there. In the Royal Oak beside Headingley. Looking for Aussies coming in crying in their pints. Haven't spotted any yet. If I do, I'll be sure to send England's best. ?
  9. Did you watch the Sky Sports special Sat night - Joshua The Untold Truth? He doesn't seem right. Can't put my finger on it but something's amiss. Seems disillusioned and confused. Be interesting to see where his story goes from here.
  10. Yeah, suppose it depends which version of Kovalev this is. Is he over the hill and on the way down? Anyway, great that I can watch a good bout for free, sick to death of this payperview crap. I'm one of those that just doesn't rate Campbell I'm afraid. But just like the Mowbray discussion, I really hope I'm wrong. Seems like a real good lad, and would be amazing if he could get a positive result of some sort.
  11. To be fair to you, I've had a look at the stats and it's not as bad as I thought. Think I'm maybe going off the Prem stats of 1pt per game. God knows why as it's an eternity since we were there. In the last 3 Champ seasons 6pts after 6 games would have us 17th, 18th, and 16th. So, yeah, I suppose that's not panic stations in terms of relegation. But it would also mean we were 2 pts, 2 pts, and 3 pts off the relegation spots. I certainly wouldn't be happy being potentially one loss off being in the bottom 3. But, I guess it could be argued with the fixture list at the start of our campaign, that would be a false position.
  12. Obviously fixture lists distort things etc, but yes, 1 point per game is relegation standard no? Or it certainly puts you in that area of the table and under threat.
  13. It's in the Mowbray On/Out thread. A page back.
  14. Mowbray's back in my good books for this alone. Childish I know, but I don't care, had me laughing out loud. And then the commentators had to apologise for him, good stuff.
  15. Hasn't changed for me. Still a really hard start. And lose to Cardiff and West Brom and it's 6 pts from 6 games. That's relegation form. Obviously, win those 2 and it's promotion from. So, I'm chuffed to bits with the last few results. But, we've still a lot to prove. Here's hoping the lads and TM do prove some of us wrong.
  16. Looking forward to them too. Really hope Yarde can do it. To beat Kovelev in his own back yard, would really announce him on the World stage. Campbell is going to get eaten for breakfast unfortunately. Way out his depth I reckon. Fair play to him for taking Loma on though. No one can say he doesn't the cahones.
  17. That's the thing Norbert, her own club has been there recently, so she can't claim ignorance. And this is someone who has worked in football for decades and should surely know her onions. I'm genuinely mystified by those comments. If you use recent player movements. Jack Harrison was a star in the MLS for Viera's New York FC. He's since struggled to make a big impact for 2 Championship clubs (although I think he will come good, only 22). Conversely, Johnny Russell was a decent Champ player for Derby for years. He's gone over to Sporting Kansas and smashed it. Scoring 18 goals in 49 games, winning MLS goal of the week, and MLS player of the week. Yep, sounds like he's jumped 3 levels in standard. I can only assume she was drinking heavily the day she wrote that column.
  18. Karen Brady's Sun Column Mrs Brady believes Championship football is 3 levels below the MLS in America. Seriously?! And she paints herself as a fountian of knowledge in the sport. Clearly knows nowt. ".....asking him to leave America's MLS to go to Derby is akin to asking me to leave West Ham and run Crewe."
  19. Mowbray has always appeared to think he's Mourinho. I used to doubt that, but he's turned me, and I'm inclined to agree with him now: •Arrogantly getting angry when being asked perfectly reasonable questions by the press. •Reports of training ground bustups with players. •Shipping goals left, right, and centre. •Failing to score goals and show any attacking flair, despite having players on the books that certainly have that in their locker. •Steadfastly refusing to acknowledge the poor run of form the team has been on for a prolonged period of time, and attempting some Jedi mindtrick to pretend like it isn't happening. •Setting the team up with baffling match day tactics, and then trying to rescue the situation with even more bewildering substitutions. All he needs to do is start jabbing his thumb in the opposing coaches eye socket next match, and the journey is complete. Pair of them are dinosoars from a long forgotten era. They need to jog on and play on an island with Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum!
  20. The Wigan fans I've seen online are pretty adamant he will be their 4th in line back up CB. Which kind of smashes that theory. They may be wrong, but at this point I've got to take their word. They know the Wigan team better than me. Will be interesting to see over the next month or two how much game time he gets.
  21. I get the theory that he's fairly good as a cover player in the squad, but is he really the type of character we need around the club? People talk of footballers needing a rest. The likes of Harry Kane etc have played football pretty much constantly for 2 years now with the World Cup and Nations League. Rodwell has had about 3 of the last 4 years on holiday. He should be the freshest footballer in all 4 divisions. And at his age at the last chance saloon, should have had himself in pre-season training from the start of July. But no, he pissed off the other side of the World on a jolly instead. Tells me all I need to know. No thank you Jack. Take your bags of money and ride off into sunset. I don't think professional sport is for you. Maybe a few rounds of golf with Gareth Bale is more up your street.
  22. It's not the assists/goals that worried me DE. Was the goals conceded, clean sheets, win % etc. Think someone on here put up some stats and the difference was huge. Yes, stats can be misleading, and one man doesn't make a team win or lose, but the figures didn't look good for him at all.
  23. Anyone know where those stats are for Rovers with and without Charlie in defence? Need to bring my Wigan brother-in-law back down to earth, as he appears to believe they've pulled off a major coup.
