  1. This post finishes off a thread page that has 6 posts from you pretty much reiterating "one opinion". I'm confused. Is that the opinion you want us to stop allowing?
  2. He named about 11 of them in one post recently in the TM thread. https://www.brfcs.com/mb/index.php?/forums/topic/34120-tony-mowbray-discussion/&page=162 And explained a fair bit on each one's credentials. He's probably getting bored of repeating it for the hard of hearing.
  3. That's the second time in 24hrs you have associated a man crying with both mental health and suicide. You appear to believe your views are progressive and modern, but I would suggest they are archaic and dated. If a man cries, it shouldn't mean there's something "wrong" with him. If a woman cries does that mean there's something wrong with her? Are we still living in the 1950's? Whilst you're lecturing everyone else on what's appropriate or not, might I suggest you maybe examine your own viewpoints when measured up against modern standards. In fact, mental health charity Mind did a whole campaign on this back in 2015: https://www.mind.org.uk/news-campaigns/news/mind-says-it-s-ok-to-cry/ Trying to eradicate the stigma of adults crying, as it is seen as a good release for anxiety issues. Someone like yourself jumping from tears to suicide in a heartbeat is probably the exact issue they were trying to overcome. Particularly among the Male population. So to Big Ben I say - let the tears flow bro, dust off, pick yourself up, and come back fighting harder than ever. That's all any of us can do.
  4. Hang on a second, I read their boards when it happened, and not only were a lot of their fans bemoaning him leaving the club, but they were complaining the price was too cheap aswell. They rated him pretty highly as a player. One for the future. So, have we ruined him? Or was he one of those that showed early flashes of promise but they were a false dawn?
  5. TRANSFER THREAD PEOPLE!!! If you want to continue the discussion start a "Mental Health in Football" Thread.
  6. Folks, despite it being mental health awareness day on the pitch, this is actually the transfer window thread. Please keep it on topic. Thanks.
  7. Well, 5 months and over half the season later Harry, where do you stand in regards to these comments? I'd say we're definately going backwards and as for progression to top 6 - well, we're miles off competing. So are you going to be true to your word and hop over to the dark side? C'mon, it's warm and cosy over here. ?
  8. That's the issue for me, we need a long term plan, not a short term fix. Like with Moyes at WH now. Cracking start for him today, and he'll do all right and steer them to safe waters. But I don't think he's the future for the club. They need another option. It's nothing personal against the manager, he has pedigree, and a fairly impressive CV. Just don't reckon he has what it takes to push them to top 8. I see TM as similar. A safe pair of hands and will keep things steady, but can he mount a promotion push? I don't believe so.
  9. Mowbray's dry spells during the last 13 months: Dec 18- 5 games winless (2 pts gained) Feb 19- 7 games winless (1 pts gained) Oct 19- 6 games winless (2 pts gained) Dec 19- 4 games winless (2 pts gained) Just 10% of points picked up in those periods. This isn't just the odd blip. It's a fairly prominent pattern. Those spells cover about 3.5 of the last 13 months. So he is in these periods for a quarter of the time recently. Figures like that are not screaming to me about a manager taking the club forward. In fact, they scare the hell out of me. I expect this winless run to reach 6 league games too. To put it in startling perspective, if we got 10% of points over a season we would end up with 14 pts at the end. And be relegated breaking all records no doubt.
  10. Wow. Big news. His shot at the Premier League gone in flash. Tough to take. To be honest, I'm not sure how well he would have cut it at that level. But he deserved the chance to give it a crack. Gutted for him, and gutted for us. Proper spanner in the works.
  11. It's a fair point, but that was at home for them. Away, they have been the worst team in the league.
  12. Merry Xmas Axe and Paul Mani! Are we really ringing in this festive period in style by bickering with our fellow supporters over some player recruitment from years ago?! Do you realise how crazy that sounds? Instead of running to a mod to referee the situation, can you not just either debate civilly, or agree to disagree and move on please.
  13. https://www.google.com/amp/s/news.sky.com/story/amp/britains-best-paid-boss-denise-coates-took-home-320m-last-year-11889680 Sky New's reporting of this story caught my eye in particilar: "Ms Coates..... will also be among the top providers of income tax to the treasury. It's estimated she would have paid around £125 million. To put that in context: Google, Facebook, and Amazon paid a combined £108 million in corporation tax in 2018." So....... one woman paid more into the coffers in 1 year than 3 of the biggest companies on the planet, who take a large chunk of their income from the UK. That seems balanced.
  14. Please brag about your gambling wins you say, ah well, if you insist. ? They call me the Acca King! My 2 greatest wins: 1. £7000 May 2016 = 10 fold Acca A fine Monday Bank Holiday. My largest ever win.The day Leicester won the title. Had an acca on all the games over the course of the day. 2 of the results that stick in my mind (for obvious reasons), were Burnley to win ?, and Brighton to draw (95th min equaliser needed for that one!). So, it comes to the final night game, and I have Chelsea Spurs down as a draw. We all know the story, Spurs 2-0 up at halftime. Chelsea not even at the races. It all looks doomed. Even when Chelsea get a goal back with half hour to go, I'm not really hopeful. Until the mercurial talent of Eden Hazard goes on one of his mazy runs and fires home on 83rd min. It being a late goal was handy too, because it meant I had the bottle to hold on for last 5 mins or so without cashing out and took home the full winnings. While Leicester fans were celebrating the amazing shock Premier League win, I was jumping round my living room like a lunatic professing my undying love for Hazard. 2 £4000 Sep 2018 = 10 fold Acca Again, all my results had come in throughout the course of Sunday. Various bets on football, rugby, and NFL. And it all came down to the final late NFL game that kicks off 1.20am UK time. Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers playing well recently and at home. Should be a shoe-in. I stay up late to watch. I watch the 1st half in horror. The Bears race into a 10 point lead. Even worse, Rodgers get crocked and ferried off the field on the back of one of those carts. Some rookie backup quarterback comes out, starts throwing like crap, immediately intercepted, halftime comes with the Packers losing 17-0. I give up all hope. Go to bed as have work in the morning, absolutely boiling. Literally can't get to sleep staring at the ceiling, steaming about how it all could have gone so wrong. Genuinely don't know what's happened until I log in my sports account on my lunch break next day and find thousands of pounds there I wasn't expecting. Quickly google the result to find out this has happened: https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2018/9/10/17839956/aaron-rodgers-green-bay-packers-chicago-bears-comeback-knee-injury One of the greatest NFL comebacks of all time. Aaron Rodgers limps back onto the pitch in the 2nd half with his team 20 points down, and goes on to win the game basically standing on one leg. Insane. Summary I have wins like this under my belt, I also have over £50k of prize money on my stats for Pokerstars. I can assure you, neither of my accounts are profitable overall. Your story checks out Oldjamfan. ?
  15. Hmmmm, this interview hasn't aged well for AJ. "Did he impress you in that Klitchko fight, Fury, in terms of his evasiveness? " AJ - "Nah, boxed 12 rounds and run, I don't respect that.........he just boxed and moved."
  16. I'm fairly certain any predictions made on this messageboard will have no impact on a game of football played in Wales on Wednesday.
  17. Early days but he looks a bit of a beast. People doing the old "young Mike Tyson" line. Saw his last 2 fights, was impressed. We'll have to see how it goes when he steps up levels.
  18. Yeah, and then the mega fight in June/July with either Wilder or Fury. Wilder beats him imo, whereas he has better chance against Fury due to the lack of power. And there is absolutely no way he gets up close and personal with Wilder. He would do exactly the same, keep it at range and dance and move for 12 rounds. That's basically going to be his style now going forward, the heavyweight Floyd Mayweather. Hey, it might make him a legendary champion, but will be dull as hell to watch, just like Klitchko and Mayweather.
  19. Yeah, and that's why no one paid for his fights for 10 years. I'll give AJ a pass, as he did what needed to be done tonight. But of he continues with that style, he ain't gonna have many PPV punters in the future. And if he's so scared of Ruiz's power, then what's he gonna do with Wilder. He better start praying that Fury wins in Feb.
  20. Yahoo version of CVC Story Don't worry, you can get most things for free nowadays if you try hard enough.
  21. Archer 1 wicket of the 10. What's happened to the golden boy @matt83? I know he's still young and all that, but he doesn't seem to have kicked on much. Haven't watched much but did switch on last night to see them putting up stats of how much slower he is now compared to when he burst on the scene at the Ashes. I thought Darren Gough had gone over to help the young bowlers get better.
  22. It's not red button, it's on main Sky channel. In fact, at the moment, we are the ONLY football match that can be watched that day. No La Liga, no Serie A, no outer Mongolia division 2 on Eurosport. And with a lot of people off work already, sat twiddling their thumbs, it could well be the TV viewing figures will be the highest we've had since the Premier League days. Probably why the club has put this offer on. Not as a great Xmas deal for the fans to come to a local derby, but so it doesn't look awful on TV with large numbers round the World watching.
  23. This commentator ain't a big fan of Dack is he. He might as well own it and say: "That Dack's a bit of a mouthy prick." He's said everything inbetween.
  24. So, in your own opinion, Mowbray is currently overseeing the 2nd worst season in about 40 years. Yet, you still think he's the right man for the job and better than any other manager that could be appointed. And you think a lot of us need to get "a sense of perspective".
