[Archived] Rovers 0 V 4 Middlesbrough review
chris replied to Ozz's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
today Hasslebank scored three goals which the total of goals for all of our strikers the the whole season, Dickov, jasen, Stead, Yori, Gally. i'd go for at this point: Friedel Neill Short Todd Gray Emerton Tommo/flitty Fergy Perdersen Djorkaeff/Gally Stead I don't htink this team would get relegated, if it can stay fit( that rules Short out). Still although I famously don't like Amo and have got huge stick of that over the last year, he may still be useful for certain games, against some of the poor teams. -
well I should say Bryan Douglas as he's a great player, helps my Dad and Aunt out with their Blackburn Family Tree (boring!!) and my Dad beat up his brother at School, but I have not seen enough of him Sooooo the winner is Ripley, just brilliant to watch, kind of my replacement for Chris Waddle, in that they were both winger that love making defenders look useless, and consistently. Just wish we had a player like Ripley in todays squad, that would put some bums in seats

nah, Valery 97, Perez a year on 98, Valery had gone by then

We got a fee for yorke dont forget! If we can get a fee for him then surely we can get a fee for the likes of Gresko and Flitty. I think Gresko could do ok in Italy in a smaller profile team, as the pace of game is slow, he's getting skinned in the PL all the time, just think he's been totally shocking but I don't blame Souness becasue Gresko fooled us all, he certainly is not cover for Gray, I'd hope maybe Jay or Matteo would cover that area if Gray was injuried.
-
sell Gresko is a must sell Think De pedro deserve a whole season to show form, if no success sell him Tugay wiill leave at the end of season Flitty seems on his last legs, I expect he will play a couple of season in the Championship in the next seasons Dickov is good enough to be a squad player, really don't see himn being a starter next season so may look for first team football but I think the first out the door will be Ferguson to Newcastle in January for 8 million and more unlikely Stead for 5 million, Souness may also try for Gray in a 4 million move.

nothing to lose, adds to the squad, still amazing a midfielder can be successful in th PL at 36 yrs old, hope so

If you don't know the answer to that then I feel sorry for you I don't think we miss Yorke, but I think we'd be just as well/poorly off if either of them were still here. Remember, this is a team game. For all Cole has done for Fulham, they have not gotten results with him in the lineup. They have just as much talent in their lineup as we do. I thought so, but i saw almost the whole of 2 Fulham games, highlights of the others and Cole was very good in both, probably Fulhams best player. Not only his goals but work rate and link up play. Maybe its because he has a new manager. If you are right that Fulham have the same quality of player then Cole's done extremely well to get 4 goals in 5 games but it also his alround game. But I agree its a team game just think we miss that quality, I would still like to have Dickov but in the squad coming off the bench as he's done most his career, rather then a starter. It seems a little bit of class seems to be the difference between success and failure in the PL. Anyway didn't Fulham win 3-0 at Southampton with Cole scoring two goals. -

I still think at 32 yrs old Dickov is a short term soluation and not a very good one at that, Hughes should be looking to form a partnership between the younger strikers such as Stead, Gallagher or maybe Jansen to take the team forward, playing Dickov is basically saying we are going to struggle this season lets put in a battler and hope he get 8 goals this whole season. Thats the truth. At this moment I really hate Souness for selling Cole and buying Dickov, he totally screwed us I think -

strange thing about this thread is nearly every person is targeting a different players ability Amo-useless Matteo- can't head Neill- out of position Flitty- no quality Ferguson- waste of money Jansen- not the player of old Emerton- a winger that can't cross Stead- no confidence Dickov- has no quality, not really news god I hope we are no all right or we are in trouble, I think hughes will work things out, theres some good players there, but heres a prediction, in the 38th game of this season Dickov will be on tghe bench and Gallagher and Stead will be leading the attack, its a must. -

so thats 2 goals in 7 games from our front two strikers, and neither scored a goal in a game we actually won. I knew this would be the problem with Dickov, he lacks quality, his goal scoring record is a joke, we have a 32yr old div 2 player as our currently best striker, he should be coming off the bench if anything. Still think sometimes Stead looks class on the ball but he not playing with Andy Cole probably the most successful striker ever in the PL anymore. horrible result tonight, dam -

!!!! To$$ers !! I think Rovers fans should now treat the 'mirror' as they would any piece of Andrex - and wipe the jolly ol' derrier on it ! yeah, Jack Walker didn't buy us the title, he just gave a mid table div 2 team loads and loads and loads of money to buy players that won us the title, totally different! -
exactly, people totally OTT, Gresko is ######, but now Hughes knows that, Nissa I have never liked and Hughes can see that, De Pedro is old and slow, Hughes knows that now etc etc. I'm glad some players showed their true colours as they are not Hughes players, they are Souness's and now Hughes has no presssure to play anyone

I think it will get better, with Souness selling our best players and playing players like Matteo left midfield not amazed the crowds have gone down, hopefully Hughes can get some stability and the crowds will pick up. It was the best possible time of Souness to leave, he was on a sinking ship of his own doing and hopefully things will improve with some fresh ideas, plus all the ref's hate Souness. Souness sold our best player Cole and replaced him with Dickov, he's ok but not the way to get soft core fans back. Its all the little things that p1ss fans off. oddly enough when I watch Souness now I can't stand it, glad he's gone, certainly the saying "you don't know what you got until its gone" does not apply in this situation. -
and if you mean the one in the Sun then it is indeed an horrible article and certainly makes me fearful for his future at Rovers.

[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
chris replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Hodgson got us into europe. It just fell away after that hope you are not defending him, he took over a team with players like Flowers, Hendry, Sherwood, Sutton, Gallacher, Ripley, Duff and bought players like Valery, Davidson, Dailly, Peacock, Blake, Davies, Pedersen. Buying and selling is the most important part of being and manager, and Hughes has no experience, hopefully he will do really good, but we will just be a stepping stone anyway -
[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
chris replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
not sure, he's never bought a player in his life, its a complete gamble, look at Hodgson international level, a lot more successful then Hughes and look how bad he was in the PL. However it could have been worse -
if its Hughes then good luck to him, but he got a bit lucky as he is really unproven, he done ok with Wales but that team picks itself, Giggs, Bellemy, Hartson, Speed etc and Hughes failed to reach a major competition with Wales and started badly this time. big gamble

and I can comfirm that Bryan can not confirm
-
saw a Burnley fan about an hour ago, and normally he tries to take the ######, but I think he disappointed Souness has gone because we might start doing well, and we should be happy. Thats a pretty honest opinion from a normally unhonest fan, he was gutted

yeah he called Blackburn the pits and a crap club going nowhere, but he just says it to get attention -
in other words, you like Shearer to be manager, not really worth a new thread

this isa good post: "What has been our main problem, discipline! Souness' record of dealing with high profile players is awful. Look at Yorke and Cole, he argues with them, nearly comes to blows apparently and then sells them on the cheap, this is not what we need! Of all the names mentioned in the last week Souness is probably the only one who I thought had absolutely no chance of being given the job! This is a truly crazy turn of events, even by NUFC's standards" NU FAN
