  1. Preston just announced their prices. Early bird start from £280, so just the £119-149 less than the cheapest option at Ewood. Why? Thanks Venkys.
  2. You believe what you want to believe but if you are relying purely on what Mowbray has had to say in his press conferences I think you are on dodgy ground. I know they haven't been in contact with the manager for a long, long time, and they have allowed his contract to run down without any direction as to what is happening next. They've also allowed these players including Rothwell to run their contracts down without intervening. So seems unlikely to say the least that they would then suddenly block a proposed sale The training ground stunt I doubt required any significant input from the main owners other than authorisation. Read what I said and compare to what you've just typed - Rothwell wanted to leave but the owners wouldn't sanction it Isn't that the same as what I said? The owners would not authorise a sale. The difference is that some people want to believe the owners picked up the phone and rejected the move because they wanted us to have a better chance of promotion. I think that is unlikely given their behaviour. ''Wouldn't sanction it' could just as easily mean that the people at Ewood/Brockhall couldn't get a response or approval from India.
  3. Does anyone still believe that Venkys actively intervened and refused the Rothwell sale to give us a better shot at promotion? I'd have hoped that nonsense would have been consigned to the dustbin by now along with most other drivel that they come out with down there. The reality is that we are such a dysfunctional shambles that even when presented with a lucrative offer that our manager wants to accept they can't get Venkys to answer the phone to sanction it and so the player stays.
  4. Time to put the "but who would buy us" fear to bed. In the last 3 years alone we've seen Bolton, Wigan and Blackpool all bought out and reborn from far worse positions than we are in now with far less to work with than Rovers have. That line might have been a defence of Venkys 5 years ago but it isn't anymore.
  5. Chaddy I would think Dyche is more realistic for Venkys than Farke. Both very very unlikely with these owners but Dyche probably more in keeping with the way they do things and operate here. Farke will have options across Europe, as his recent deal in Russia shows and back in his native Germany. He worked at Norwich under a solid and settled backroom structure in a 'head coach' capacity with a sporting director and it is in those conditions he flourished. He will want or expect similar or at least should be brought into similar at his next club. We don't work like that here. Venkys have never shown any interest in that sort of structure and have always preferred an all powerful old fashioned manager running the show for them. Their attempt at a 'head coach' setup with snake oil salesman Senior was so bad it was funny. Dyche won't have offers from Europe, and won't want to work under a Head Coach system. Dyche will have to work in the Championship next and will want complete control like he had at the dingledome. He would get that here. So it would probably suit him and the owners. Not going to happen though because this lot wouldn't make a sensible or ambitious appointment if their lives depended on it, let alone one that is going to cost them money and require transfer promises. Far better bringing someone in who will be grateful for a Championship job and agree to whatever it is they want without a word of complaint. See Coyle and Mowbray.
  6. Absolutely, which is why if he wants to stay he'll be allowed to IMO. Take away what we see as fans and our emotions. Take away that we supporters generally understand football and that we have an emotional investment in it and that we spend our hard earned limited money following it. The people in power be that Venkys, Waggott or whoever else is in charge here don't have that investment. They aren't football people or Rovers people or they take money out of the game as an income rather than spend it at Ewood. End of season review and Mowbray has ticked just about every box Venkys will want ticking Navigated the choppy waters of a pandemic and ground closures Accepted, worked with and potentially improved our league position whilst drastically cutting wages, spending little Sold Armstrong for big money, will sell Brereton for big money Kept wages under control (unfortunately meaning we lose Nyambe, Lenihan and Rothwell for nothing) Got on with it all causing zero fuss or aggro and never blaming the owners or causing them any grief He's perfect for them. Why would they want someone else and risk losing the above?
  7. Billionaire owned Championship club based in town in NW of England facing the usual economic issues post Covid and surrounded by numerous other PL and FL clubs - comes out with excuse after excuse before releasing season tickets in late April during a horrendous run of form with uncertainty permeating every level of the ownership, management and playing staff. Prices start at £399 (already the second highest price in the Championship to date) and that is only an option if you are one of the 8000 or so who bought a full or half season ticket this year. If you are one of those who was unable, unwilling or uncertain last year, completely understandable given the ongoings at the Club and the small matter of grounds reopening after the pandemic and lockdown, then tough titty, you'll have to pay the £429 because you aren't loyal enough. I reckon there must be almost 2000 in the category of had a season ticket in 2019-20 before the lockdown but didn't get one last summer and I completely understand reasons why. A few miles down the road we have a League One club, recently out of League Two. Based in a similar sized town with similar demographics and economics. A club that only a couple of years ago was in danger of bankruptcy. A club that has started to rebuild with owners who in footballing terms are relative paupers and certainly not in the billionaire category. Yet in February whilst on a good run of form and in with a slim chance of promotion they release season tickets. Their prices during the early bird were from £219 for renewals and £229 for new applicants. They shifted over 12,000 and even now, at the higher price rate, adults can buy season tickets from £299. Compare and contrast and I ask myself - why the feck are we thanking Venkys for their support? The most exciting thing for me now is going to see if they have the balls to keep Mowbray on next season, and if they do how they announce it. Because sales will nosedive again if they do. With this pricing the only chance they have of anything but embarrassing sales figures is to either bring in a decent manager or bring in some serious quality player wise otherwise people just won't pay it.
  8. The boat was missed in January and February. A decent offer and promotion back then hand in hand with a place in the top 2 and a 'promotion push' (little did we know what they had in store) would have seen plenty buying in the spur of the moment. Imagine the phone lines being open and ticket office after that win over Middlesbrough in January. So that's the first big failing - it isn't often you can capitalise on a top 2 position after Xmas - we could and chose to do nothing. So now we are back to trying to sell tickets in the summer, off the back of a diabolical run of results, with only 1 visit to Ewood left this season before folk go off for the summer likely to be bitterly disappointed and angry (I know I am) at what has unfolded her since January. There will, of course, be the usual 6000 (used to be 10,000) who will renew at this price regardless of results, performances, timing. There are a lot who won't or can't. The Club often like to use Covid as an excuse for everything that goes wrong and no doubt that will get blamed for the pitiful number of season tickets sold last summer, rather than pricing. I could start to understand the surcharge for post 6th June buyers in normal times - if the pandemic had never happened or the economy wasn't in the state it is then fair enough, encourage people to buy early by offering a cheaper price. Quite commonplace. I'm not really familiar with early bird initiatives that are only open to existing season ticket holders though. Usually the early bird works for anyone willing to sign up before a certain date. The problem is that after shifting less than 8000 last summer, the lowest in a long long time, the club should really be doing its best to entice back as many of those who didn't renew last year. Yet as far as I can see not only is there no incentive to try and get those people back, but they take it a step further and penalise them for wanting to sign up. Very strange behaviour from a club and CEO completely out of touch with reality, who might talk a convincing game in the corridors of Ewood but his performance suggests he is actually a damaging influence at the club.
  9. In his 4.5 years at the Club there are two things that Waggott has done consistently. Putting prices up and thanking the owners for their support. This bloke knows where his bread is buttered and knows what he needs to do and say to keep in the good books and on the gravy train. Its reducing our support and season ticket base every year but what does that matter to him when he'll be retired in Kent or wherever he lives in the near future?
  10. Perhaps foolishly or optimistically I thought that we could at least expect a price freeze on the hikes of the last couple of years. I wasn't expecting any better. Alas even that comes with caveats - the price of £400 only available to existing season ticket holders who ensure they renew within the next 6 weeks, failing which they also have to pay the increased price along with anyone who doesn't already have one who might fancy getting one next year. Cynically I wonder if they are trying to cajole/force people into buying asap to get them signed up before the *hit hits the fan with Mowbray staying on and another round of sales after his India trip. Here is the list of other Championship clubs' cheapest starting adult price, compared to our £399 (with strings) Forest - £385 Huddersfield - £299 Sheff United - £357 Millwall - £350 Middlesbrough - £450 Coventry - £345 Swansea - £322 Stoke - £344 Cardiff - £249 Bristol C - £365 Pboro - £349 Barnsley - £285
  11. For anyone interested we are the 13th club in the Championship to release prices for next season. Of those 13 only Middlesbrough at £450 have a more expensive 'cheapest' adult price than our £399/£429
  12. Roll up roll up https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/april/22/2022-23-season-tickets-out-now-/ Think I'll be waiting and seeing what happens.
  13. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/fairnesstabelle/wettbewerb/GB2/saison_id/2021 No particular surprise given what we have seen but yes we are bottom of the table for disciplinary this season. So for all Mowbray's talk about 'nice human beings' and naive kids learning their way in a mans league this seems at odds with that.
  14. I'm sick of people making excuses and putting their heads in the sand rather than criticising those responsible for it. These people are like putty in Venkys and Waggott's hands. There's no excuse for it. It's a disaster for a club such as ours. At the least we should be raking £10 million.
  15. I see Warburton as similar to Mowbray - plenty of good qualities that make him a competent and respected manager but not ruthless or adaptable enough to get a team over the line. Spells of good stuff and talk about promotion then spells of horror runs.
  16. I'm sticking with my prediction that there are two ways this works out, neither of which I'm happy with or will result in a good outcome for the club. The first is that Mowbray wants to stay, or is open minded but would be willing to stay. If so then I expect to hear about him and Waggott being on a plane to India within 2-3 weeks of the Birmingham game. Then we'll have another couple of weeks of silence whilst he is out there doing whatever it is he does and we speculate day in day out about what is happening. Then he comes back and goes on holiday with his family and Rich Sharpe patiently waits for news. By this point we are well into June and recruitment/preparation has gone nowhere, the scars of this season have started to heal and have been consigned to the memory bin. Then we find out he is staying, the owners are committed, he's determined to go one better, keep things moving, excited for what the future holds etc. etc. and on we go same old same old. The alternative is that Mowbray has decided he's had enough, or makes that decision in the coming days/weeks, or (very unlikely) he has a better offer elsewhere that he is going to take. In which case we still have weeks and weeks of silence and uncertainty but instead of the manager speaking to the owners we have Pasha. Cheston and others raiding the bargain basement friendly agent aisle for a new manager to come in and work with the existing staff at short notice for buttons. Or alternatively they just promote Johnson and save on the hassle of searching. Then the new guy doesn't have time or opportunity to go to India and secure backing from the owners so instead we get another summer of loans and cheap signings. And on we go. The third way - that Venkys have made a decision on Mowbray's future, or that a 'reset' is being planned, or that a remotely exciting management team is going to be brought in to take us forward - I think is unlikely to say the least.
  17. The Mowbray to WBA 'rumour' is simply lazy linking of a manager out of contract soon with a different job and WBA ticks the boxes - question marks about Bruce's future and Mowbray's past links with them. Nothing more, nothing less. I've seen some daft decisions over the years but sacking off Steve Bruce, a proven promotion winner, to bring Mowbray back, especially after what he's served up here since January, would top the lot. West Brom need promotion. You don't appoint muddled Tony and his second half collapses if you need it. No doubt at all that Mowbray and his backers want people to believe WBA or others are interested in his services. Name of the game is getting a new contract and one of the best ways to do that is make people believe you are in demand elsewhere.
  18. Thanks to Venkys we now see a sacked dingle as unattainable for our club. Impressive work. The question should be whether we would entertain Dyche, not whether we could get him. But under these cretins we won't get either
  19. Defeat. Preston and Lowe will be well up for this especially after defeat last night. Mowbray can't cope with local derbies and will crumble at Deepdale. Seen it all before, braced for another humiliation. Assuming we lose then Preston will probably finish above us in the table which will be another unforgivable outcome.
  20. Nigel Adkins, Damian Johnson, Mark Venus or Tony Pulis. Take your pick.
  21. Think Allardyce was always going to be unlikely. He made it clear several years ago that he wasn't interested in managing in relegation battles every year when he left Crystal Palace. He doesn't need the money or aggro especially not at a club with a limited budget like Burnley. Wilder would be bizarre given Middlesbrough might be in a higher league than Burnley next season.
  22. Just imagine being 19 points and 12 places above mighty Millwall and then 15 games later being below them. Scandalous.
  23. Watford, QPR, Stoke and West Brom will all be ahead of us in the queue on that front, Middlesbrough and Birmingham too if Wilder/Bowyer leave Then when all the decent available managers get snapped up by rivals we can play the "who can we get / who would want to come here?" game again before Mowbray has to stay because he's the best there is.
  24. Yes this will inevitably happen when they botch the replacement process and bring in some other loser to do the job and he struggles. For some reason managerial changes can be made all the time at other clubs when results are poor yet here we are supposed to stick with St Tony forever because it could get worse. Newsflash - no managerial change has ever taken place without a chance of things getting worse. But change happens and has to happen - better off doing it at a time convenient for the Club rather than have it forced upon us lets say by Mowbray getting a better offer elsewhere (unlikely I know).
  25. Farke is ideal, which means he won't be coming here. He can sit it out and wait for a genuinely ambitious Championship club who will offer him the structure and finance to have a shot at promotion. Why waste your time with jokers like Venkys and Pasha?
