By my understanding if you only survive one season in the Prem you only get 2 years of parachute payments -

Has it worked at Watford? Their best season in the past 10 years came under Javi Garcia - who was actually, miraculously, given a full season and a half. He was then sacked and they got relegated Since then I don't believe a single manager has lasted more than a full season and a yoyo affect has begun If they don't go up this year it will be the final year of parachute payments having only spent 1 season in the PL last year, which means a fire sale of some supremely talented players -

I agree in my opinion it is another lesson for people not writing off players too quickly. Plenty of talk has been had about him being a waste of money but looks like he’s really settled in both off and on the pitch -

We are class. Enough said -
There has to be a deadline at some point What is “immediately after”? 10 minutes, 1 hour? I have some sympathy in this respect Contracts are full of these terms: best endeavours, so far as is reasonably practical, reasonably foreseeable etc etc The EFL at least gave guidance on the 15 minutes

Sorry, poorly worded really I do get it had to be moved, but think it's shit it will become a midweek 8pm game all the same For example, I'm in the Midlands, I won't be able to attend that game. It doesn't help the distant fans who might have otherwise bought a ticket for it
-
That April is quite frankly disgusting. To move the Burnley game to Tuesday at 8pm is shit. But the atmosphere will be electric. Under the lights always adds to the atmosphere imo

Winnable game and a great warm up for the FA Cup. We have to win our home games if we want to remain in the play offs. Take it to them early and we can beat them. They are nothing special - a well drilled team with some quality They don't realise we have a secret weapon though. An in form Sam Gallagher.......only to be used on extremely rare occasions. This is one of them. -
Welcome to the shit show that is the FA All these coaches, pundits and players speak about the 'tradition' of the cup. Then they don't say anything about it being played at 6pm on a Sunday or something bloody daft At the very minimum the FA Cup should be Saturday 3pm until the final.

You are right it does The duty of care is established by proximity and fairness Could it be argued we were close enough to Nottingham Forest to reasonably foresee any harm that could arise from our negligence? Maybe. We knew if we didn’t get the deal ratified they would not receive the contributions we promised and would have to continue paying his salary in full. Just speculating there - I don’t think it will come to that at all As Wisden points out if that loan agreement constitutes a contract then maybe there’s an argument for breach of contract. Can’t see it myself. Would bet my last quid there’s some Regulation in the EFL documents that say contracts are not valid until they have been ratified by their Board, or similar
-
I haven't, sorry You see, a claim for loss usually arises from a breach of contract. I don't know, but I will look up, whether the "loan agreement" facilitates a binding contract I'd actually more side with Mercer, in that the contract was frustrated due to negligence by Rovers, therefore as no contract was entered into there cannot be a breach What I believe Mercer is then insinuating is that a claim arises from a 'Tort of Negligence'. It is an area of law that is complex and very difficult to prove

You can disagree with his legal perspective all you like, but given that he is right and you are not, we are going to need some reasons as to why You feel certain and you strongly suspect, yet from any sort of legal standpoint I just do not see it The only damages we are liable to pay, and will pay, are the ones suffered by the EFL in preparing their arbitration

I am surprised there’s not been a few apologising about the outrageous accusations made against Broughtons professionalism and personality It’s abundantly obvious he did his job correctly. By 8.25pm he had agreed to sign Lewis O’Brien after chasing him throughout the transfer window. As a DOF his job was complete when he had the boy in the training facilities. It was down to the secretarial team - who do not come out of this well at all - to finish the rest. They didn’t Broughton did his job. And then had the balls to go out and face the music. Where is Waggott? Where is Sylvester? Nowhere. Living it up, not arsed. If GB had a competent commercial department (because this is a commercial matter) then he would have secured us one of our best signing in a long time, with the option to purchase at a good fee if promoted.

Priorities for the summer
Dreams of 1995 replied to wilsdenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If this is what is occurring down at Ewood then it is grossly incompetent from Waggott He should be advising them of the rules of FFP and of the cost and requirements of facility maintenance. But I don’t need to tell anyone that… It also begs the question about Pasha. If he’s their “man on the ground” then what is he doing? The cost of a pitch like Leicester’s is a drop in the ocean to the Venky empire. Yet it would go a long, long way to restoring some relationship with the fans -
Priorities for the summer
Dreams of 1995 replied to wilsdenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Improving the pitch doesn’t fall under FFP So in reality, if Venkys wanted to they could give us a PL standard pitch and a centre forward The issue is that they don’t want to Any improvements to infrastructure and facilities is considered outside of FFP if I am correct -
I have just done my match ratings. Personally I think it is a tragedy that Morton has an average of 6.8 He had a terrific first 70. Ran out of steam in the end. But this is a 19 year old man who played in a frantic, high paced game and came up against two freshly substituted starting PL central midfielders. He needed taking off and fresh legs putting in But make no mistake Tyler Morton was integral to our win today. A really unfortunate score for him imo

That Gallagher tackle got an almighty roar from the fans It was a punch the air type of event. Say what you want about Gally, and I’m one of them who does, that man left his soul on the pitch tonight It is what really irked about Vales ambling around. You just replaced a man that has nothing left - the least you owe him is that you run yourself into the ground for the last 15. He looked like he couldn’t be arsed. Really running out of patience with him Travis made a similar tackle in the first half. A blocked shot right in front of us. I just knew at that moment that these lads didn’t come to get walked over We need to take that spirit and that fight into the next league game. All this talk of cup runs ruining leagues is silly. The confidence they will get from that can’t be taught in an extra day on the training field

That was a special night. So glad I was there. The King Power is a great stadium to watch football in - and the away end was electric today. Genuinely seemed like there were too many Rovers fans in the ground. Packed out to the rafters! One small criticism of the day is the amateur organisation from Leicester. Big queues to get in meant we missed kick off. Then you had one or two stewards trying to do their job, whilst the rest just allowed anything. People stood where they wanted and rightfully so - I think that helped the atmosphere personally - but every now and then one steward would take it upon themselves to try and save the day But on the pitch. Wow. Couldn’t fault anybody….except one. But we will get to that. Pears, Carter, JRC, Morton, Dolan, Travis and Sammie all get special mentions from me. Not that the others didn’t turn up but these lads came to win today. We made them look so poor. Pressed at the right time, sat back when we needed to. The attacking intensity was fantastic from us It was a shame to see JRC go off. He was having a stormer yet again I really have fallen for Pears. He made some saves today, including a double save at 0-0, and that kept us there and in the game I have one criticism. Vale doesn’t want to be here. I was gobsmacked by his lack of effort at the end - and in fact, one of their good chances came from him allowing the fake David Luiz all the time in the world to step forward. But I’m not going to let that overshadow the team performance Luckily for me this was the 2nd game close to where I live. Once again went with some Villa fans who are now invested. They loved every minute of it - pair of them heading every ball towards the end. All made a commitment to go wherever the draw takes us next. Hopefully Fleetwood at home but whatever you put in front is JDT will find a way to beat them

Alastair Cook? 🤐 But in all seriousness I think Crompton deserves a shout, purely based on the numbers he put up last year I also thought Alex Lees was the better of the two when he played with Crawley. I'd rather see him and Duckett myself. Unfortunately I don't want much county cricket at all, and not best placed to say who to replace Crawley with. I just know that Crawley isn't at the standard required for international cricket.

You need Foakes as wicket keeper, especially when the Summer comes and we are having tests in England again. The swing in England requires you to have good gloves, it can go at the very last, and dropped catches lose matches. Foakes would be my #1 for the Ashes. He chips in with the bat here and there too Brooks has been sensational. I went to sleep last night as it came to lunch and both Brooks and Root were getting set. If I didn't have to be up I'd have stayed up because you could tell they were building something Crawley still has question marks. He will get tore apart by Australia. Surely there's still room in "Baz-ball" for a solid opener who will dig in, soften the ball and then allow the likes of Root, Stokes, Brooks and Pope to play more adventurous Before Crawley was out he drove one straight on the up and he was lucky it didn't carry. You could see the wicket coming a mile off Duckett for me is a decent batter and unlucky. Crawley has to be replaced before we start back in England. A pure flat track bully, hence big scores in Pakistan

What are you listening to right now?
Dreams of 1995 replied to TzuyuShing's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football
Been a while since I posted on here, but quite an old tune that I have been listening to quite a lot recently: If you are a fan of Mungos Hi Fi you'll know they have been releasing bangers for years now. Gardna and Charli Brix are now based in Bristol - the new home of all things electronic in the UK. London died years ago. Charli Brix's voice was made for music like this Bristol is home to the record label "Born on Road", where dub music meets DNB and Jungle. Saw their set at Boomtown which blew the place apart. -
Bradley Dack - Twist or Stick?
Dreams of 1995 replied to bigbrandjohn's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It is difficult to read them all. You are posting about the same topic of conversation across multiple threads In general I get your theme: JDT's style of football bores you. It is slow, cumbersome, dull, dreadful, lacking in creativity, aesthetics and skill I would disagree. It is now approaching March and we are 4th with what has to be the worst squad we have had in the last 5 years For months now you have been berating the style of play - what do you want to change? Do you want us to abandon the defensive structure, start attacking relentlessly and rely on Vale, Gallagher, Dack, Dolan, Thomas, Hedges to outscore the opponents? Sometimes in life you have to manage resources in such a way that you do things differently to how you would like to. This is evidently one of them cases When you looked at Malmo's results during JDT's time there, both in Europe and the League, you can see they scored a lot of goals. He obviously had better attackers at his disposal I know you will continue to come on here after match calling the football dull or boring, but I think this is a case of sucking it up, accepting what tools our coaching team have at their disposal, and appreciating the art of winning football matches with a squad that, on paper, does not deserve to be 4th Give Mowbray a team where Dack and Brereton are missing, relying on a defence consisting of JRC and an unfit Brittain, and Dolan our biggest goal threat and we lose week in week out. He played more expansive football - attacking at least - but where did it get us?
