You're up early Suhail, I thought you'd have travelled back with the team last night -
Makhtar Gueye
Lancaster Rover replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
My point at the time re Brown was that whilst his (Browns) goal return was abysmal he did actually hold the ball reasonably well and do a lot of the dirty work required fairly competently, he just couldn't hit a cows are with a banjo at Rovers, compounded by the stupid sending off after being on the pitch about 5 minutes. The comparisons to Gueye were that post Burnley (and pre I'd argue) that he wasn't particularly effective in holding the ball, linking play or scoring although his movement to get in goal scoring positions was still fairly good. I'm over the moon that Gueye has started to score goals and be effective. I still stand by for a period of 10 games he looked absolutely woeful, with a trampoline touch and the technique of someone striking the ball with their wrong foot, anyone with eyes would struggle to disagree. Whether it was confidence or not I don't really care, fact remains that anyone with eyes could see he was performing very poorly and his technical output at the time would have anyone struggling to think he was anything other than awful. Put it this way, if he was playing for someone else and he'd been suggested as a January signing prior to the last 4 games everyone on here would have been in uproar. He has obviously been doing loads of work on his technique, his fitness and his ability to use his physical attributes the the maximum and over the last 4 games has not only looked a real handful, he's been decent with the ball, improving in that respect every game, his movement has been excellent and his ball striking has come on immeasurably again anyone with eyes would struggle to dispute that and long may this improvement continue. Does his improvement make me think he's a reincarnation of Drogba or Haaland, no, do I think if his development trajectory continues at this rate he can be a good championship player, yes. I also worry that he is just as likely to fall off a cliff and look like he's playing wearing shoeboxes, he's just one of those hard working, effective but not naturally gifted players IMO. -

For those who complain about Buckleys speed of play, Cantwell makes him look like Iniesta -

Still here, for 6 months he looked like Kaba Diawara and Fode Koites shit cousin! he’s obviously getting the rewards now for the work he’s been putting in behind closed doors, still clunky at times but has become much nore effective -

I think a lot of fans are in a similar boat where you can simultaneously despise the owners and execs, feel that Eustace has been stitched while also feeling Eustace family/togetherness honest man act now rings very hollow -

Very similar to the reverse fixture at Ewood earlier in the season. Like watching a pair of castrated dogs dry hump each other -
They'll have dropped the odds based on above the expected number of bets being placed to cover themselves.

The end of Wickys' tenure at Young Boys was truly honking, to which they've not yet recovered. Young Boys have won the league 7 times in the last 10 years so a relatively successful spell there is nothing to write home about. It will be O'Neill or Edwards, both out of work, can start immediately and likely to be desperate to get back into a job before their names disappear into the hat of out of work ex-prem managers

I do wonder if the players may feel somewhat used/hoodwinked by Eustace (regardless of wider club issues in the board lying to JE) in terms of togetherness, etc and it become something that further galvanises the group. With them wanting to stick 2 fingers up and get themselves in and around the playoffs for the remaining few months. -

As long as we don't play Cantwell in the Cantwell role it will be an improvement -

I think they're talking about a) not Eustace's targets b) timing c) requisite ability/fitness to play a significant part between now and May -

Buckley has been one of Rovers better performers in the last 4 or 5 games, he gets a lot of stick on here some warranted, some not so much but he's been one of the few minor positives in recent weeks. Admittedly the bar is currently set at floor height! -

Sad thing is another manager will come in, eustace name will get dragged for 12 months and then whoever the manager is will suffer the same fate and on it goes. meanwhile we’ll have fan infighting and further divisions found between fan groups -

We’ve been here before, eustace may get short term assurances which everyone believes silences Waggot et al when in reality they’re happy to play the villain get their wedge and the fuck Eustace off as the bad guy in the press during the summer. Same happened to JDT. Rinse and repeat. All these managers come and go, the only constant is Waggot drawing his wedge and the circus continues -

Indeed, I often think Lambert is looked back on negatively by the majority of Rovers fans when I thought he had us playing some great stuff in patches with a very average team. Very similar to Eustace in adopting a pragmatic approach. Sold a pup by the owners and walked at the first opportunity. Some PR heavy lifting by various people at Rovers has since sullied what was a decent stint that was on an upward trajectory before being harpooned. -

It would be wonderful if Todd Cantwell was as good as Todd Cantwell thinks he is. Effective as a chocolate teapot -

Think it was season before last at Ewood where he had one of our mega toothless displays against a struggling team, really was horrendous. -

Siggy is the best finisher in the club, in fact I think he’d give szomdics a run for his money in pure finishing ability. The ability to get i the right places is a different matter but he’s quality technically is siggy. His problem is he’s so bloody soft
