Yep as usual all superlatives about Utd, I thought it was funny when they when through our injury list (completely missed Nelson btw) and then immediately after said we have struggled of late due to Europe. Anyway to the game. The the F in Hell are we doing trying to go through the middle and long ball over the top. We need to go wide and whip the ball in behind them UNited flap when teams do that, they don't like it some nice curling crosses in behind Rio is a Rover and we can have 'em.

You know, I've always thought Sparky to be a sensible man, a staight shooter, he's not going to go on about a player if he thought it was out of our reach. He's not the pie in the sky sort of fella, he a realist and if he thinks there is a possibility then I just have to buy what he's selling. -
Penalty for them then and a couple of shouts for us turned down, Utd also score from a free kick that should never have been. Sounds about right for Riley.

Perhaps I am nuts but the more I think about this the more I can see us pulling this one off, If we have the right spin doctor to sell it to Beckham. Sell it to him in terms of football, good honest footy, no distractions just come and do what you like to do, play the game. Also if Beckham's spin Doctors can put the right slant on it chances are it could be very beneficial to him too. -

I don't think Beckham is quite ready for the MLS yet. He can afford to decline a few more years and still make it here. Besides signing a deal in the MLS would translate to him having given up on career as a top player and would end without doubt any aspirations he may have of playing for England again. Two years here then the MLS and he's done well. I agree perfect stand in for Toogs. -

Paella for tripe, I can't stop laughing, good that FLB On Becks, I'd have him here. He may not be what he was but he is still an excellent passer and crosser of the ball. The PR factor would be a phenominal boost for Rovers. Is it too far fetched? I don't think so, there would be a lot less pressure on him here than the likes of the Geordies and, just look what we did for Bellamy. It just might look good to him, surely the simple fact that he moved to Blackburn would get him tons of publicity. Big stumbling block, would posh allow it. -
Doesn't matter does it? Whoever it is we know the decisions will be well skewed in Utd's favour. It's a fact of life.

Helping keep the club on sound footing financially is also a bigger part of his job. Was what Hughes really wanted available or should he just have splashed the cash so he'd have bodies to throw in and keep the I told you so's quiet. Midfield should have been strengthened but was the quality available for the price we can afford. 18,000K a week through the turnstiles is not going to pay a whole lot of wages. We'll be alright and that coming from a Rovers pessimist, made so by following Rovers. -
Well that should have their backs up. A slight chance it could work in our favour, they'll be under a bit of pressure to win. I fancy a right hiding for us now though.

No chance for us I'm afraid. It's on TV here, I am getting tired of only seeing us play the "biggies" all I ever get to do is watch us lose. (Note, only one "o") I have seen a few united games this season and to be honest if we throw out the anti Scum sentiment they have looked scary. Some of their movement, passing and execution has been outstanding. However they are not unbeatable but alas as far as we are concerned with our battered team they are. It's going to be a humiliating one.

Good sensible posts Scotty and daren, echoes much of what I feel. We will come out of this, pretty confident.

I saw the penalty decision, terrible, terrible decision. OOyah tried his best to pull his arm AWAY, loooked to me like th eball hit him on the front of his shoulder/chest. A player trying to play fairly gets punished, sad init. Keep the faith we will turn it around. PS, Rover the Moon, give it up mate.

Personally I think we are capable of having a fair whack in Europe and in the prem, but only if we get lucky with players injuries. Clearly we are not. We did not really even start the season with a fully fit squad. If there is to be a choice, prem has to be first but I would like to see us qualify for the knockout stages. We will have a few more rough games then things will get better, as long as the pyhsio room is not busy
-
Not gutted at all, wish we could have won but I am not expecting anything from the next game or the next, wasn't from this one either. The gutters were the Bolton and Wham losses. Be alright when we get a fully fit squad back. Geez looks like the gap really is closing. Heh Heh

I believe, to a point you are right SG194, why? because the very things I noted that are turning me off are the same things that are turning others off. I hail from a Northern working class town, as do many of us. I served my apprenticeship in a Factory in said town. Us East Lancs folks tend to enjoy good hard nosed footy and many of us are simply turnined off by todays tactics. Don't get me wrong I love to watch the art form of footy that the likes of Arsenal can bring but we simply cannot deal with some of todays antics. Many of these players earn in a week what many people who buy tickets earn in years. I applaud what Rovers have done and I hate the downplaying of it in the media, I hate the way the Media treats us small market town teams. And there is another issue, what young impressionable wide eyed youngster from Blackburn wants to be assosciated with a team that is slagged off at every opportunity by the press. It does not help. What ever happened to the press's love for the underdog. Me I love Rovers and always will, what ever level, I just wish sometimes the public would show their support I know we are in the hearts of many in town. I just wish they would show. We are a unique club, the quality of footy we are playing is waaayyy beyond any of my wildest dreams as a youngster. We have a small population yet we paly and beat some of the richest clubs in the World. It's something the town should be proud of. We all know the darker times we had as a club, these days are to be savoured, cherished. That is very respectable, it means at least the fans who are showing are making some noise. Sort of kills the Deadwood thing a bit though. My guess is that should the worst happen these pub fans and armchair Harrys will recount to their grand kids the many afternoons and nights watching the Rovers back when they were a good team. I can just see it can't you. That's great to hear, too bad we are too small fry for the major sports channels to bother with it. Could have been a good advert. -

Been saying it for sometime. It's why I get down on the negative people, they should learn to appreciate what we have it WILL NOT last for ever. Sometime within the next couple of seasons Sparky will be off. With the lousy, and getting lousier, attendance we will be hard pressed to compete. As I have stated I fully expect us to find our own level within the next 5-10 years if not sooner. Our own level? That of a struggling to competent 2nd division side. As for why the numbers continue to dwindle, my feeling it is the way we as people are going, modern society is teaching us to be lazy. Many simply do not have the motivation to make the effort, there are so many other forms of entertainment available now to compete with the average persons disposable income they wwould just as soon be entertained in manners which need less effort. Many years ago there was not much else to do in the form of entertainment after 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. Another factor is the modern players and the lop sided officiating, it turns me off a lot. Pansy challenges result in players rolling on the ground and yellow cards being dished out (invariably in favour of the "big" team) PLayers cheating to gain an advantage, acting, flopping, dissention to the officials it all quite frankly make me sick. There are 3 games on telly here on a Saturday and I have become so turned off by the way the game is going I hardly watch, I used to never miss. It's pewtrid, vile and disgusting what is going on. Shoulder challenges are called up now, clean tackles are blown up and yellow cards issued, what for? because it was a hard challenge and "could have" caused injury. It did not so get on with, however these "professional" tactics are allowed to go unchecked all the time. Football has only Football to blame, for the most part, for it's decline in these parts. Now they are talking about changing the goals come on the game was bloody fine before the tinkerers started, offside was offside. BTW I thought there had to be daylight between the defender and attacker, don't see that called do we. Consistency, fairness and the same rules for everyone combined with harsh punishment for cheating will go along way to helping things. -
Don't fancy us in this or the next game. Both are on TV here and that usually means I get to watch us lose.

I've said it before and yes I'll say it again, punish the players with suspensions based on video evidence after the fact and it WILL go away. It's like a cancer in the game now. I hate it. Would the assistants have to give him a yellow for that?
