  1. Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Since I've been wrong so often can I have a little smug feeling now.
  2. Hey watch it, our all time leading scorer was partial to afew pints and a good smoke
  3. I'd have to agree with that.
  4. Roeders right Norwich do have a top class set up with Prem fan base but what a totally uninspiring hire. I don't think he's up to it myself. Surely a club like Norwich should be able to attract a decent boss.
  5. When was Garners FIRST game for us, I remember watching him play before I came here, obviously missed his best years but I can't for the life of me remember how much of him I saw.
  6. The penalty was in the bag. The brown paper bag.
  7. TND, from reading your posts I couldn't help but notice we think alike on the FA. I getting a bit worried. It's what it's really about though isn't it. Always has been.
  8. If Benni, as it seems to read on here, did infact turn in another lacklustre performance then his tenure here could well be a short one. There are only two real responses a player would have to being dropped and publicly named as not up to snuff that a player migh have. 1) Take it as a wake up call and work you socks off. 2)Continue with the ###### poor attitude to show who's really the boss. If number two is Benni's option he has to be gone. I'll entertain that perhaps, as someone said, Benni's knock on the head has affected him. Sadly I think it's more what's got into Benni's head than what knocked it that is his real problem. Just my opinion you understand.
  9. If Benni has any doubt about what Sparky is telling him Sparky should sit him down and have Benni read some of the comments on here. I hope Benni responds in kind, a hat trick Thursday would do nicely.
  10. Great read philip, thanks for sharing.
  11. I still don't like the new offside simply because it is open too much to interpretation by the ref it already can be used to favour "big" teams. To me if a player is between the ball and the goal in the line of site of the keeper he is interfering with play. Defenders must react to the player also so there again they are interfering with play. We got away with one at Chelsea but I don't think it was so much an interfering with play issue rather than just a mistake by the linesman on the position of the attacker at the time the ball was played. I was furious when the Liverpool goal was allowed to stand when Cisse was adjudged to have not been interfering, even though he stuck his foot out to make contact and defenders reacted. It just seems too difficult to call properly and is wide open for abuse. Now if the player is NOT between the ball and the goal then perhaps not interefering with play is palatable but the situation like Reading, or Terry where there was player(s) in front of the keeper to me that is interfering with play but can legitimately be argued either way by the officials or anyone else should they choose to do so.
  12. Thanks for that Fife, a nice read. Happy for Matt, living the dream with his feet firmly on the ground.
  13. Why are the Pompey defenders stationary? that way Benni does not actually have to run after the ball Or do they hold a straight line on their six yard box so he can stay on side?
  14. Why? From what I have read on here it is quite acceptable, no, appreciated to play like that. As long as you bagged a bunch of goals LAST season.
  15. Still want to stick with that? or would you consider now giving my point a little more thought. Sooner or later a player getting picked consistantly who is not performing will have a negative effect, was it tonight? don't know. Roll on Sunday eh.
  16. I think you are wrong there, Dickov got plenty of stick on here when he was here.
  17. I remember that too, thought it was awesome but he really messed us up, talk about lumping the long ball. Seems like all we did was try to loft it to Radford.
  18. I can't understand why people can not ask themselves yes he scores BUT how many could he or other members of the team scored if he had worked just that little bit harder. How many goals would the opposition NOT have scored if Benni had chased down a loose ball or not turned over possesion to the opponents from not working and by working I just mean running and jumping like he means it. Don't want to bang on about it too much I just don't think Saturday's performance was acceptable and there has been plenty more like it. Next time he scores 2 I'll be kissing his arse like the rest you can bet.
  19. Don't be surprised, I've never been fond of players who a) Make it public they want out. b)Stroll around the pitch like they don't give a toss. Just my opinion that's all. I hear and understand all the comments defending Benni, yes given his scoring record last term they are justified, BUT imagine how good we could be with a commited industrious Benni. Cite Dickov as an example, works his socks off but who would I rather have? Benni hands down, I just want to see more from him. How long will peoples defence of him go on I wonder if he does not start to score regularly? Happy for you you all lived with your lazy player, it's not always going to be the case.
  20. I was maybe one of the angry's I don't remember. If I wasn't the I was a definate no. I wanted no part of Sparky being named manager. I felt it was going to be nothing more than a dangerous experiment which would put the club I love in Jeopardy. Now I can't see ANY other manager doing the stellar kind of job that Hughes has done here, and I mean any manager, short of perhaps Brian Clough. So any of you seeking footy advice or wishing to know the nuances of football management, now you know, don't ask me I know Jack.
  21. Peacock Neill Gresko Grabbi Davies Ward Ostenstadt Douglas And a Bzillion others All white and tarred by the same brush. Fact is the people you bring up, with the exception of Roberts all had a tendency to take it easy. However, Andy hands on hips Cole looks like a Bonafide workhorse compared to benni at times.
  22. I thought McCarthy's effort yesterday was disgraceful and belittling to his team mates, his captain should have given him a rollocking. No effort at all, a total lack of willingness to fight for the cause, already metioned him strolling behind Terry into the corner when the ball was there to be be won, twice, he did not even harrass him. That was about 35 mins into the game, if I was Hughes(thank god I'm not we'd be at Stanley's level) the buggar would not have been out after half time. I'll tell you this, we have a great team spirit within this team, a 100% commitment to work for each other, it's what gets us where we are. If Hughes does not address Benni's work ethic then it WILL begin to effect the performance of the rest of the lads, mark my words they will ease up if they see him continually picked, it will also dent the morale of the likes of Matty as he sees his arse parked on the bench while McCarthy is having a Sunday afternoon stroll in the park. I am not buying this lack of service excuse either, Santa suffered the same lack of service but the bloke worked his bloody socks off. As for the black thing, load of cobblers total hogwash. Don't notice anyone dissing Samba and he is blacker than benni. If it is a colour thing it's not the colour of his skin, it's the lack of effort wearing the colours of BRFC. I hope Hughes told him after the match too, not this wimpy "can" or "should be" bloody hell we are not dealing with school kids here. Hughes had best have made it clear, shape up or sit down. We have three strikers ready willing and able to replace him, we know at least one of them will give his all don't we?
  23. Thanks for the pics, it is the one and the same Paul Astley. Someone tell him hello for me. Bloody hell did not realise this thread was over a year old.
  24. The amount of time it took him to figure out the possibilities?
  25. Not exactly, Williams THINKS Benni wants to stay, big difference.
