[Archived] Pathetic Attendance
USABlue replied to Uddersfelt Blue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Been saying it for sometime. It's why I get down on the negative people, they should learn to appreciate what we have it WILL NOT last for ever. Sometime within the next couple of seasons Sparky will be off. With the lousy, and getting lousier, attendance we will be hard pressed to compete. As I have stated I fully expect us to find our own level within the next 5-10 years if not sooner. Our own level? That of a struggling to competent 2nd division side. As for why the numbers continue to dwindle, my feeling it is the way we as people are going, modern society is teaching us to be lazy. Many simply do not have the motivation to make the effort, there are so many other forms of entertainment available now to compete with the average persons disposable income they wwould just as soon be entertained in manners which need less effort. Many years ago there was not much else to do in the form of entertainment after 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. Another factor is the modern players and the lop sided officiating, it turns me off a lot. Pansy challenges result in players rolling on the ground and yellow cards being dished out (invariably in favour of the "big" team) PLayers cheating to gain an advantage, acting, flopping, dissention to the officials it all quite frankly make me sick. There are 3 games on telly here on a Saturday and I have become so turned off by the way the game is going I hardly watch, I used to never miss. It's pewtrid, vile and disgusting what is going on. Shoulder challenges are called up now, clean tackles are blown up and yellow cards issued, what for? because it was a hard challenge and "could have" caused injury. It did not so get on with, however these "professional" tactics are allowed to go unchecked all the time. Football has only Football to blame, for the most part, for it's decline in these parts. Now they are talking about changing the goals come on the game was bloody fine before the tinkerers started, offside was offside. BTW I thought there had to be daylight between the defender and attacker, don't see that called do we. Consistency, fairness and the same rules for everyone combined with harsh punishment for cheating will go along way to helping things. -
Don't fancy us in this or the next game. Both are on TV here and that usually means I get to watch us lose.

Good Idea but make sure it's the end facing east or we have 20K mooning the players. -

I've said it before and yes I'll say it again, punish the players with suspensions based on video evidence after the fact and it WILL go away. It's like a cancer in the game now. I hate it. Would the assistants have to give him a yellow for that? -

So when we go to Feyenoord we will be in our famous Blue and White and the Dutch will wear their away kit?

[Archived] West Ham United 2-1 Our beloved rovers

My only complaint against Benny is at times he does not seem towant to work for the ball, a few times today it looked kie he could have got to it if he had hustled. I agree about Jeffers I thought his header was in for a minute. -

I was tired of the commentators too, were they Wham fans. Well at least the loss is no big surprise to us, most of it had the script pretty well written. The players we had missing just made it about a cert. Just hope we are not at the start of a poor run. As for the corner the announcers said it was a goal kick but no mention of hard luck on Rovers, in the first half they were all over a free kick we got that they thought should not have been saying how unjust it would be if we scored. Well we all expected it. Next. -

Don't forget we were threatened with expulsion from the Euro Championships because our fans sang a certain song. Now compare that with some of the other incidents and the punishment dished out. English fans and English team always seem to be punished the hardest. -

Nice to see so many true Rovers fans posting. The ones that see the impending doom, just like myself. We will batter 'em and lose to a flukey goal or as a result of an outrageous decision. Feeling it in me water as I know many of you are. Oh, it's also on the telly over here, which is the last nail in the coffin -
Such as being squeezed inbetween two lard arses at a footy stadium?
-
For me over here it's worth every penny.
-
Silly being an massive understatement, yet it's me who's the muppet ha got to laugh don't you.
-
Now you are talking, I will take you up on that.
-
And here's me thinking they were going by the book on shirt pulling.
-
You are not going to tell me you got all the way back there in three hours are you, BTW it's lose. God I hate that. Yes I can, if you can not see the game for what it was, prefering to throw a tantrum you must not really appreciate footy so perhaps you would be best served saving your time and money next time. It's about entertainment too.

Saw brief highlights, very brief. Yes the ball was over the line and they were two very poorly taken penalties. We go a whole year without a penalty then get two together and miss them both. Funniest bit was Sam in the post match interview, accused Roberts (though it was infact Benni) of "theatrical diving" bit rich coming from him don't you think. As long as the lads played well we can't be too disheartened. Scabby lot Bolton, every time I see them they get some form of huge break in the luck department. More good stuff to come from us this season though I'm sure. Rover the Moon is a bit Rover the Top with his negativity too.

I agree 100% and I did not expect much else from todays game. Obviously shocked we missed 2 pens. Some of the @#/? spouted on here, about page 6 I think beggars belief. I wish those armchairites would watch someone else, same negative drivel from the same people. Have we or have we not just gone 8 games unbeaten, did we or did we not outplay Bolton today.

Up Yours! -
So the local rag is doing it's best to let Rovers down again? Arseholes. As far as the game goes, close game, tipped by whether the ref calls the cheating tactics or not. Can we put a springboard in the box, might make things easier for Spit.

That Scholes, now there's a numpty. Don't bring up the home defeat by the wombles in the FA Cup, you'll get banned. As the person running the board he should be a bit less onesided. Loves to dish it out and stir it but can't take it. Marv's been ok, as has Longsiders but I agree with Gav, take your infighting back home.
