  1. Whilst we're on the topic of food portions being smaller than they should be, I've just got back from Subway and their definition of what six inches looks like is very similar to what I tell the missus
  2. I think it's the right sort of club for him to be coming in at, I hope he hasn't switched too early. Would finishing this season and getting another trophy or two under his belt benefited him? Still when a good opportunity comes along it's hard to turn down. I really hope he is successful.
  3. For Jones it would have to be on a deal where utd pay all / most of his wages but I think they'd get a better offer elsewhere. We can't afford to be paying wages for someone who might spend a lot of time in the physio room. What are the odds we'd get him and ayala on the pitch at the same time? If it was financially risk free, snap him up. If we can get him playing regularly it could be a decent move but I just don't see it happening.
  4. Newcastle bemuse me. Big money takeover and there's talk of them ruling the world and being the dominant force in English football so they appoint Eddie Howe.... he doesn't fit that brief. OK so they've also claimed that they need a stepping stone, someone to tide them over till the summer, keep them up and give them a platform to build from. Does he fit that brief either? I don't think so. In fact, if the requirement is a steady pair of hands to keep them up until summer... Steve Bruce... Big Sam. Not good enough for the mighty toon. GOD I hope they go down. Wrong job for Eddie howe I think. I think he needed to go to an established Premier league club such as a Crystal Palace type club. One that isn't in too much danger of going down but with a bit of tidy football could break the top 10.
  5. I don't because I think we may discover that TM can not only survive death spirals but can survive them when we lose by big margins
  6. Not many of the england boys are hitting a good level thus season after the Euros
  7. Fans can't boo him if there's no fans in the stadium. Maybe that's waggots plan so Tony can do his job uninterrupted.
  8. Christ but I assume he talks to his staff. I bet he's proper awkward whenever he's asked anything "Tony, what's the time?" "as I say, I'm not a clock so I can't be sure" "Tony, can you boil me some water" "there's a certain journey you need to go on and unfortunately I don't have a PHD in chemistry so that's not something I'll be able to do at the moment so we've just got to put it behind us and move on"
  9. I thought you were doing a parody quote before I clicked that you'd quoted his actual words
  10. So who's favourite to take the CB slot? Buckley or Gallagher? Where's Bennet when you need him
  11. I've seen the happy chappy Facebook brigade shrugging it off because Fulham are a Premier League side (clearly not as they got relegated). It's frustrating when you first hear it but gets worse when you think about it some more how many times have league 2 / conference teams drawn a PL team in a cup comp and kept it tight or even held for a draw. Ryan Nelsen and his New Zealand amateurs held Italy to a 1-1 draw at the world cup, they didn't role over and take it because iTaLy R rEaL gUd. Passion desire and grit cost nothing and that starts at the top. That man on the touchline displays non of it so why would the team
  12. This could be it for Tony, just the 2 year contract extension after this!
  13. I've no issue with that. Managers are rarely shown loyalty by clubs so there should be no expectation for managers to turn down other opportunities.
  14. Under poch I wanted them to get a trophy so much and its being highlighted now what a great job he did. I don't think many fans wanted him gone. Sacking Jose the week before the league Cup final was criminal and I have no sympathy for the club.
  15. Agreed. The way they treated Bruce was awful. Bruce did a good job with the tools available. Also when they got taken oven, every toon fan I know (and I'm unfortunate enough to know a lot) said the goal was just to survive this season then start building in the summer so many would be happy with a temp manager to keep them up. Two of the first names you think of in that situation? Big Sam and Bruce. If Martinez is the favourite there's no guarentee they'll stay up. Massively overated as a club manager I like Moyes, I think he's a great manager. It didn't worn out at Manchester United (but no one has) he's one of those managers who plays a style that suits the players he has. He may have played boring football at times but that's because he had players that suit that style. Give him a few flair players and see what he's doing.
  16. Don't think anyone cared about sticking the boot into the previous managers and getting them sacked but because ole stuck a toe out 22 years ago he's untouchable to many
  17. I don't get the hate for the glazers so much. They may make a profit from the club but they've not exactly cut the purse strings. Over £1bn spent on the squad since fergie left I believe. How it has been spent can possibly be criticised but is that the glazers or is that the manager / whatever Woodward role is? They've signed some duds but ultimately the squad assembled is actually pretty class. If the glazers aim is to get man utd past the group stages of CL that's pretty good. Once you're in the knockout phases you've got every chance of winning it.
  18. Which is odd because as Carragher (I think?) pointed out to him. He will sit there and say "[player] is not good enough to play for Manchester United" or "we need a clear out and to get a new defender/midfielder/forward in." He would call for a player on a horrendous run of form to be dropped or possibly even replaced if he was unlikely to ever turn it around yet somehow the same doesn't apply to the manager?
  19. Tell you who I think would do a good job at man utd if ole goes - Brendan Rogers
  20. I thought Lampard was hard done by at the time but think they did him a massive favour. Lampards reputation with Chelsea fans is intact. Oles is in the gutter whereas lampard was never given the chance to get to this point.
  21. That United squad should be challenging for the title no doubt about it. But I wholeheartedly agree that they should stick with Ole for atleast the next 5 years...
