  1. Because they were neglectful stewards that's why. It didn't even become apparent that the Raos had no idea what relegation was until after the sale. It probably is. The name is Laurence Bassini who has stated interest in Rovers years before his failed attempt to buy Bolton Wanderers. He also claimed that John Williams would join their board of directors. ...and how much longer will they last if they haven't already expired. Do you really think they will speak out? I don't. Maybe they feel some responsibility not questioning Venkys more at the time as they would have found out how clueless they were (are). Anderson did have some tax issues but that probably wouldn't have cleaned him out financially. What I want to know more about is the Venkatesh Rao kidnap threat (not sure if mentioned on the podcast).
  2. I haven't watched that. My comments were mainly based on Johnny Grunge who was also a close friend. I acknowledge the point though and Grunge did die a few months after Eddie. I certainly didn't dislike Benoit but didn't worship him like others did. I was much more into Eddie's match with Lesnar than the WM20 main event a month later. Not that the latter was a bad match because it wasn't. My favourite Benoit match would be the one against Austin on Smackdown with the consecutive suplexes. When they were part of the Radicalz (I didn't watch WCW besides the C5 show near the end) Eddie was the one who stood out to me and at that point he was a midcarder. I don't know why initial thinking I(within the company) was that Benoit was the biggest catch. Because a certain percentage of fans worshipped the guy? Eddie was highly regarded by that group as well. My initial thoughts on Benoit was that he was boring (and one thing I never considered the WWE to be from 97-2001 was boring) and I didn't know how well regarded he was by a certain section of fans until 2001 when I got home internet and started visiting sites besides WWE.COM (which I had looked at in school a few times). I did change my opinion after his PPV main event with the Rock though.
  3. You can't possibly know that. While Benoit was certainly devastated by Eddie's death there were other wrestlers who died and were close to Benoit. Of course Eddie is the most high profile so that's why it gets mentioned more. Benoit had already had issues with his wife as far back as 2003 when she took out a restraining order. I don't doubt Benoit had serious health issues overlooked (heart certainly and severe depression) but I don't buy the excuse that his brain was equivalent to that of a dementia patient. It's pathetic that he stayed in the Wrestling Observer HOF (the only reason he got in was his technical wrestling ability and workrate) when "lesser workers" who were somewhat reluctantly voted in probably wouldn't have under same circumstances. That really annoys me. That said I certainly didn't see any signs that he was capable of doing what he did. When I switched on Raw and saw the graphic followed by the news about his wife/son also being dead my immediate thoughts were either some maniac had killed them or something like carbon monoxide poisoning. I also assumed they were certain of the facts.
  4. Also off topic (considering Charlton aren't a Championship club) but more bizarre events there today. Claims Thomas Sandgaard (his business Zynex is registered on the NASDAQ so surely his funds are legit and fans seem behind him) purchased from someone who "had no authority to sell" and he's been "ordered to leave". https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54925763
  5. No it sounds like I don't want to waste money paying for multi course meals when guaranteed I won't like most of what's on offer. If I made a point of only buying "locally sourced food" or "British food" that would be parochial.
  6. When one of the positives is that he's "better than Lowe" it does not say an awful lot.
  7. So what if he no longer owns them. Maybe "out of business" is a bit harsh but FUP has destroyed ambition for so many clubs. It's not an "off field issue" in the slightest. Not to mention Whelan's a damn hypocrite. Much worse than Cook who was an average Championship/L1 level player who just happened to play for Boring Name FC when they were nowhere near Rovers level on or off the field. Also I didn't take too kindly to Whelan saying he didn't want to "saddle his family with Wigan" implying that's what Jack did with Rovers. Infact that angered me even more than FUP which is some accomplishment. Think of Whelan next time Rovers get a transfer ban. Not because he broke his leg once. I'm surprised he does not get more criticism here since he hired not one but TWO people who GASP played (plus managed in Coyle's case) for Boring Name FC as Wigan manager. What a traitor! I'm glad you admire my contempt for United. Anger can indeed be energising in some circumstances! Which has it's positives and negatives.
  8. Might just be fussy with food though. That's the main reason I'll never go corporate at a football match or a pretentious overpriced restaurant. It's no secret Dack looks up to someone like Beckham and he's hardly "salt of the earth" is he? I've got a mix of pro corporate and anti corporate views though. That's why I'll never be totally aligned politically one way or other my views are all over place!
  9. To be fair this type of behaviour would have been overlooked under previous regime as well. There were several instances of disrespect then. Evans isn't the only one who's had a "suspicious injury record" and you certainly will agree and know who I'm talking about! No wonder the sharks took advantage. Evans is doing what others have done and will continue to do in future if the club fails to take a "no nonsense" approach.
  10. Also berated Steve Bruce recently. Though in this case the bitterness just makes Chansiri look silly for appointing the prat in first place. https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2020/11/06/explosive-steve-bruce-claims-arrive-as-sheffield-wednesday-owner-launches-brutal-attack-on-nufc-boss/
  11. Chansiri seems very bitter. Understandable really considering he's been punished for spending his own money.
  12. Morris being so anti-FUP might even be what led to the approach rather than dealing with someone who's supported it. Helps that the club was for sale as well I guess. Sheffield Wednesday might have been considered but with two prominent clubs in Sheffield (not that it stopped cousin Mansour) perhaps that's why they selected Derby County. There's been theories that part of Man City's attraction (as well as being an EPL club) was the challenge of overtaking Man United which in all due respect to Sheffield United isn't quite the same. Of course City were in the EPL and had an ideal stadium/location. Of course they would have looked at an EPL club this time (Newcastle) but it's much harder to remove a sitting owner than prevent a buying one. Derby's stadium has tons of room for expansion too and is more modern than Hillsborough.
  13. Well at least Wigan's takeover is getting closer so they have some positive news. Better than their current situation anyway. Derby's takeover of course has progressed so much quicker but that's hardly a surprise is it? Wouldn't have minded Wigan going out of business though. Would be what that Man United loving, FUP backing hypocrite Whelan deserves. Same for Gibson didn't call for FUP when he was signing Juninho and Ravanelli did he?
  14. He's probably been happier than most lately. Does not like having too many fans around.
  15. What's to stop someone like Chansiri saying "to hell with it" and just threaten to shut their club down. Or at the very least let them wither away slowly and deliberately sign substandard players for next to nothing. Sometimes you have to fight scorched earth with scorched earth. It wouldn't be good for an individual club but if it's all about attacking FUP it wouldn't bother me much. An uncompromising stand for the greater good of the game. Derby's takeover seems to be happening very quickly. Man City's was even quicker. Sovereign wealth is a tremendous guarantee. I don't think Morris is the type to do no homework and sell to someone (for instance people who have no idea what relegation is) who isn't right. He's made some mistakes such as building around a washed up cretin but this takeover looks win win for them. At least as much as it can be in a FUP world.
  16. Wonder what they do if Derby get promoted within a couple of years. Probably force fans to fingerprint ID whenever they want to buy club merchanidise. Restrict each fan to £50 per year. Fan spending fair play.
  17. With today's news probably only a matter of time until Derby County win promotion. Of course with FUP how much further can they go beyond that? Wolves must be the immediate example to emulate.
  18. Accrington could make it to Premier League (lol) and there would still be more Rovers fans there. Should bring out "free shirt fair play" see how Dolt likes that. ?
  19. "Are you watching Manchester"? I can imagine some parts were particularly the East-South side!
  20. ...and foreign coaches have been successful in recent years in the EFL Championship. Load of ignorant rubbish.
  21. I saw the commercial for this show and thought it looked tacky which isn't a surprise for an ITV channel. All very superficial you can see why he looks up to someone like Beckham.
