  1. Sam's Rovers were organised (which is more than can be said for the current team) and finished 10th in the top flight. As for Hughes losing the plot he finished 7th in the Premier League in his last season, if that's a manager losing the plot then lets have another.
  2. Hard to see the bigger picture when we keeping dropping points and losing games in a similar manner. We need to get that sorted before we start looking at the bigger picture otherwise we have reached our ceiling.
  3. He's got zero goals and that is a big worry for a £7 Million striker. Let's bet honest once Graham and Dack went off today we all knew that unless we got a set piece that we weren't going to go and get a 3rd goal.
  4. He's just had a month to get help in and hasn't even though by his own admission he had the funds to so.
  5. The story of Rovers season points thrown away from a winning position. After a few clean sheets (that papering over the cracks) it only took conceding one goal then the panic sets in and as far too often happens the flood gates open. Once we concede one we are always more than likely to concede at least one more. Mowbray talks about our great team spirit but too many times this season heads drop, they stop working and we get thumped. Once Dack and Graham go off let's bet honest that was the end of our hopes of scoring a third but that's our own fault for not bringing someone in. A shame we didn't appear to work out that the foreign market had value until deadline day because as Brentford showed today there is value in it. If one good thing come's out of this result it will be that one of our best defenders and brightest prospects Ryan Nyambe will be back in the team next week, its ridiculous that he isn't even making the squad. Bennett never has been and never will be a full back.
  6. There are audible groans from fans at every game around the world when one of their players gives the ball away, it's a natural reaction. . Are you really suggesting that Rovers fans don't groan if say Dack or Mulgrew miss place a pace or when Raya miscues as kick? You go to the Nou Camp and if Messi give the ball away there is a collective groan around the stadium or even going back to when they had Xavi and Iniesta if they played a very rare loose pass.
  7. He’d have a job to as Brereton started that game.
  8. Derby lucky to get a point. Very impressed with Preston.
  9. Again you have conveniently miss out the next bit (again). I was responding to Mowbray saying “If he (Chapman) is going to sit on our bench or not even get in the 18 for the next three or four months then he might as well go and play some football and get fit and get some confidence and come back pre-season ready to try and get in our team.” All I said is that I would back Chapman to have more of an impact than Brereton from the bench. Because for me if he was fit enough to loan out he is fit enough to play a part for us. However since then Mowbray has had a closer look at him a decided that he isn't even fit enough to go out on loan. It's not mind that has changed on Chapman's fitness but Tony Mowbray's mind after taking a closer look at him.
  10. I would back a fit or even half fit Chapman to have more of an impact over Brereton because it's no secret I think Brereton is hopeless. I haven't changed my mind I still believe that. I don't hate Brereton I just don't rate him as a footballer. But the simple fact is since I said that the manager has said things such as 'He has a bit to do physically to get himself in to a shape ready to play in our first team, he’s not physically, so will have a bit of work to do over the next month or two to get himself ready'. 'He needs to do a lot of work on his body, so I don’t think we’ll see him for a while. I don’t think he’s even fit enough to go out on loan. We will be getting him ready for the intensity to play for us.' 'I’m delighted he’s here and here for the long-term. Let’s not rush him, so when he is right he can contribute at his maximum.' When I said what I said I didn't know all of that as believe it or not I was not sent a fitness report on Chapman by the club. Also you have conveniently missed out the context of that quote, as it was in response to speculation of Chapman of being loaned out (which would mean he was fit enough to play) however Mowbray has said since then he isn't even fit enough for that. But even if Chapman doesn't play a game this season he will probably have as much of an impact in the run in as our 4th Choice Striker/6th choice winger. Clearly the manager doesn't see Chapman being ready for a while yet. I know it doesn't suit your argument but that is Tony Mowbray saying those things about Chapman and not me.
  11. Because I don't see anyone below the top 10 being good enough to make the playoffs, is that alright with you? Anyway you've been saying on here what a mess Swansea are so why do you want to compare us to them? As for Brum they can't sign as they are under an embargo.
  12. That's more to do with my view on Brereton than my view on Chapman. But that comment was also before Mowbray had said what he has said about Chapman's fitness. So unlucky try again. P.S. I'm flattered you think so much about me that you have taken the time to go back over my old posts. ?
  13. I'd have thought it was obvious as one I was talking about the current 10 top who are our rivals in pushing for top 6 this season (why would I be talking about next season or beyond when we are still competing with them in this one?) and two 'I said It's hard to include Chapman as someone who will improve us this season'. The clue was in the word's this season.
  14. It's not me talking down Chapman's ability to have an impact this season but the manager. It's not me but the manager that has said things such as 'He has a bit to do physically to get himself in to a shape ready to play in our first team, he’s not physically, so will have a bit of work to do over the next month or two to get himself ready'. 'He needs to do a lot of work on his body, so I don’t think we’ll see him for a while. I don’t think he’s even fit enough to go out on loan. We will be getting him ready for the intensity to play for us.' 'I’m delighted he’s here and here for the long-term. Let’s not rush him, so when he is right he can contribute at his maximum.' I know it would suit your argument better if I said it but I didn't. Whatever you think of the business the other sides in the top ten have done the simple fact is they will be ready to play now whereas our signing won't. Also I'm not sure that losing Palmer (a player proven in the Championship) and signing Chapman (who's never played above League 1 and hasn't started a competitive game in 16 months after multiple injuries) is strengthening.
  15. I think the signings of Murphy and Montero will make sure that he isn't missed.
  16. Which other top 10 team hasn't strengthened then?
  17. Bristol City didn't strengthen? What about Kasey Palmer who is already proving a big hit for them. Of the top 10 we are the only team not to have strengthened. And before anyone says Chapman, It's hard to include Chapman as someone who will improve us this season as Mowbray himself has said that he is at least a month away from just being fit enough to have an impact.
  18. And you take that attitude in the transfer market you aren't ever going to get where the likes of Leeds and WBA are.
  19. For every Sheffield United though there is a Millwall who actually finished above Sheff U last season. There's no guarantees in football so whilst we are in with a chance of the top six we should have given ourselves more of a chance of being able to make it. As for being smart and saving his money I only wish he'd done that at the end of the summer window.
  20. Safe to say West Brom had the best deadline day Murphy, Montero and Johansen. Have to fancy them strongly now for promotion.
  21. Yeah just a Champions League winner who is captain of his country and another player that has an abundance of Championship experience (including a promotion) who was a regular starter in the premier league last season.
  22. Obi Mikel at this level will be a class act still only 31.
  23. van La Parra and Obi Mikel.
  24. How the money is paid for Brereton is a red herring as we will have committed to paying up to £7 Million and it is money that can't be spent elsewhere. But that has already been done over and over on here, so I'll move on. You say if Brereton develops into a quality striker then he will have been a good investment. What is the difference between that argument and the argument of signing a striker on 4 month loan (paying him say 30-40K a week) who if he scores the goals to get us into the play offs (and maybe beyond) will have proven to be a good investment. Both are gambles the only difference is if Brereton is a failure it's one we are lumbered with for years to come whereas if the loan signing doesn't come off then after a few months he's off our hands.
