  1. Leutwiler Nyambe Rodwell Mulgrew Williams Reed Evans Armstrong Dack Rothwell Graham Subs: Raya, Bell, Bennett, Travis, Chapman, Brereton, Nuttall Don't think we will lose this one if we are positive so going for a 1-1 draw. Really hope Rothwell starts after his performance mid week, the lad really deserves a run in the team.
  2. Strangely enough I think that the last 3 appointments actually show that they want to take us to the next level. All three manager's biggest success in their careers have been getting a team promoted from the Championship and I think that they look at that and think they've done it before they can do it again. However the problem is that they don't know anything about football because if they did then they would know how these manager's that had success years ago are looking dated now as the Championship has changed massively over the last decade. Also this year a good budget was given to the manager, of course there are a lot of question marks over how it was spent but that lies with the manager rather than the owners. And according to the manager we had more money unspent which is again the manager decision and not the owners, I think we would all be more worried if the owners started dictating how much had to be spent and who on. Finally promotion to the Premier League is worth at least £170 Million, so there is no way that sometime soon they aren't going to want to try and get a slice of that.
  3. When Mowbray signed Rodwell he said 'My idea for him is that we turn him into a centre-half as part of a back three.' However since Rodwell has been here he has barely if at all played in a back three another example of Mowbray saying one thing and doing another. I would have no problem if he played in a back 3 as I think it would suit him but I don't think he is a good enough defender to be playing as 1 of 2 centre backs. It's not really hindsight to know that if we drop Graham and Dack at the same time we will struggle to score, it's common sense. You only need to see us play or even just look at the stats to know that if Graham and Dack don't play then we will struggle to score. You say the perfect opportunity for Brereton but again he was played out of position and didn't get the opportunity to show what he can do in Graham's role. If Sharpe knows a lot but doesn't go public then he's not much of a journalist. When has he ever had a big exclusive about the club or about transfers? Personally I don't think he has much of the inside track on the club.
  4. You've said that (or words to that effect) for the last two transfer windows.
  5. Huge Summer Coming up in my opinion that could shape the next 4-5 years for the club. In my opinion plenty to ship out and plenty to bring in. For me the Outgoings would be. Smallwood, Bell, Bennett, Williams, Samuel, Conway and Gladwin. All League 1 players at best. I'd also loan out one of Brereton or Nuttall to League 1 for a season. Incomings that I think we need are: A big dominant experienced leader to go straight into the team at centre back is an absolute must. Also a must is some proper competition for Graham upfront. A left Back that can defend. A right back to provide adequate cover for Nyambe. Harrison Reed as a central midfielder. If that's not doable then another central midfielder with some forward vision. And finally one or maybe even two wingers, who can cross a ball.
  6. The reason Rodwell is playing at centre back is because we only have two centre backs at the club and as one of them is injured we have to play a midfielder at centre back, that is down to the manager bringing in no defenders in January. If Dack and Graham were both struggling then one should have played against Bristol and the other against Reading as we simple don't have the depth in attack to replace both them at the same time again that is due to the manager failing to bring any attacking reinforcements in during January. You yourself have acknowledged that our three attackers Armstrong, Conway and Brereton all missed good chances. Not really sure what Rich Sharpe tweeting has to do with anything, he's hardly a fount of knowledge about the club. Also why was Mowbray sad that Dack only just made the bench on Wednesday? It seems a strange thing to say as I'd have thought he would have been happy to have his top scorer in the squad.
  7. I think Liverpool have changed there style this season. They have changed their system and they have dropped off their high press. Rather than play at a real high intensity they now look to control the ball more and are much more possession orientated.
  8. When you have your top 2 goal scorers on the bench with 21 goals between them and are then complaining about missing chances, I'd say that the selection was wrong. As for Rodwell he's not a centre back, so why is he playing there?
  9. Another fantastic contradiction from you. You say that it wasn't team selection that cost us and then go on to criticise the defending and finishing from some of those selected, which suggests to mean that some of the players selected were the wrong ones.
  10. GK's- Raya in my opinion would benefit hugely from an experienced goalkeeping coach, he's fantastic at reaction saves but his command of his area and decision making is very poor. Leutwiler I have only seen play twice but he did fine both times, Mowbray doesn't seem to have too much faith in him and I still believe that the main reason he was signed was to make sure we didn't play during international weekends last season. Is Raya brilliant of course not does he make mistakes of course he does but so do all goalkeepers in this league and unless you spend a massive sum of money then you won't get much better and I think we have other areas where its more important to spend big money. As for Leutwiler from what I have seen he looks a perfectly able deputy. RB- Nyambe has been treated poorly by the manager over the last few weeks in my opinion, he should be our first choice right back. Bennett is not a full back and should never be playing there again. We need to be bringing in some adequate back up to Nyambe in the summer. LB- I'd happily get rid of both Bell and Williams. A new first choice left back is one the main signings we need in the summer. If I had to keep one of them as back up then I would choose Williams but I'd happily use Jack Evans as back up. CB's- A big dominant experienced leader to go straight into the team is an absolute must in the summer as it has been for the last 3 summers. Mulgrew for me is currently our best defender and would look much better alongside a dominant experienced partner. Lenihan has for me been the biggest disappointment of the season, I personally feel that he has regressed on his performances at this level from 2 years ago. Which is a real shame as I really thought that he would kick on this season, he's a 25 year old international, who's played over 100 games for the club but he is still incredibly rash in his decision making. Rodwell for me isn't suited to a back 2 if he is going to play at centre back then it has to be in a back 3. I Can't see Platt and Wharton making it here. Maglorie needs to be given some games before the end of the season to whether he is up to this level. But for me the biggest problem with our defence is that the manager doesn't appear to know how to set up a defence effectively.
  11. Funnily enough Coyle got Burnley promoted the same season that Mowbray got his promotion from this league. But as I said previously that was 11 years ago now and the Championship has changed a lot since then. Edit: It might have been the season afterwards actually
  12. The Championship has changed a lot in the 11 years since Mowbray got his promotion from it.
  13. Strange you say that you pick players on form and that Smallwood was better than Reed on Saturday and that Reed has been poor recently. Yet in your team you had Reed starting and Smallwood on the bench. Funny that pre game you thought Reed should start yet because Mowbray picks Smallwood instead, Reed has suddenly become poor and Smallwood a better option. Talk about contradicting yourself.
  14. Reed is twice the player Smallwood is unfortunately for him and the team the manager rarely plays him in his best position despite the fact he is comfortably our best Central midfielder. Can you tell me anything that Conway did in attack that threatened Reading other than wasting a good chance with a poor effort. I was agreeing with you that Armstrong should have scored twice. I was just question your opinion that Armstrong did fine apart from scoring I'd say if your striker misses two good chances then he has not done fine.
  15. Yes Chaddy toothless as we didn't finish any of those 4 good chances.
  16. The trouble is if you take them off who is coming off the bench to get us a goal? We saw last night how toothless our attack is without them, for me the manager made a huge error not bringing in a striker in January.
  17. Do you genuinely think that Smallwood is a better option in central midfield than Reed? Conway was on for 75 Minutes and offered nothing bar missing a good chance. Rothwell was on for 20 minutes and assisted a goal, his pace and running with the ball was a constant threat whereas Conway offered no threat. Armstrong did fine apart from scoring. I'd say if your striker misses two good chances then he hasn't been fine. The problem is Rodwell isn't a centre back as showed last night but because Lenihan is injured and we have no other defenders Rodwell has to play there, that is down to the manger letting centre backs go out on loan and not bringing anyone in.
  18. I'd add Bell and Bennett to that list as well.
  19. Shows how low standards are for him that a few decent touches and a couple of runs and people are pleased with his performance. He did a few of the basics well but for me far too light weight especially for someone of his size, his balance is terrible and of course he missed a chance that your £7 Million man has to put away, instead he was miles away from even working the keeper. I think of his last 3 good chances two have gone out for a throw in and the other has ended up in row Z.
  20. Let's be honest though Mowbray is no Sam Allardyce.
  21. Then one should have played Saturday and one tonight. We simply don't have enough ability in attack to be without both of them.
  22. I'd say it's a fair bet that Danny Graham 10 league goals and Bradley Dack 11 League goals are more likely to take good chances than Brereton 0 league goals, Conway 0 league goals and Armstrong 4 league goals. The goal scoring stats don't lie and it was a massive mistake by Mowbray tonight to bench both of them.
  23. I'll ask you again as you must have missed the question when I previously asked you. Do you think if one or both of Graham and Dack had been selected that we would have been far more likely to take one of those chances?
  24. And you can guarantee Waggott and Mowbray will be in the media moaning about attendances (again).
  25. And that is the problem with Mowbray that he is absolutely a nice man and after some of the charlatan's we have had recently he has been what the club has needed. However to take the next step I feel that the nice man lacks that ruthlessness to clear out a lot of deadwood. The likes of Bennett, Williams, Smallwood, Conway all handed new contracts in the summer and given plenty of game time this season even though they aren't anyway near up to standard.
