Anyone expecting him to make any major changes in the summer is going to be terribly disappointed, he has blind faith in this group of players. A while back he was saying that he wouldn't be afraid to give youngsters a chance, yet despite being on a dreadful run he keeps his faith in those who have been primarily responsible for the run. Another example of him saying one thing and doing another. I think that his handling of our younger players is truly terrible.
-
In other words he's looking for some more bench warmers at best because he hasn't got the bottle to replace senior players he need replacing.
-
Let's hope he play's Bauer more than he does Rothwell. As for Bennett being played out of position the problem with Bennett is that he doesn't have a position. He's a jack of all trades master of none who is continually shoehorned into the team by Mowbray who unfortunately has blind faith in him despite the fact he has been ineffective all season.

The difference is Chaddy that you are not a professional athlete. You only have to look at Dack to see that he is not in the shape that he needs to be to reach his full potential and it is also no coincidence that as the season has gone on his performances have dropped. Also previously one of Dack's night's out has resulted in problems with the law, which reflects badly on the club. -

The King situation was similar to the current situation with Rothwell, a player with a clear talent but had an overcautious manager who didn't know how to get the best out of him. -
Given DOF's usually have a role in transfers, I would say that it is a role that would not suit Mowbray as his business in the transfer market has been very average at best. People use to say similar about Bowyer (that a DOF role would suit him) I think that it was because much like Mowbray he was a decent bloke who despite the fact he had taken the club as far as he could people didn't want to see him leave the club completely. But at the end of the day football is not a charity and if you want to progress then sometimes you have to be ruthless.

Of the out of contract players I don't see any future for Downing, Gladwin or Conway. Leutwiler it's hard to judge as I have only seen him play twice but has looked perfectly able, I would like to see him given some games between now and the end of the season to make a better judgement. Rodwell I wouldn't be keeping to play centre back in a 2, I'd like to see him as part of a back 3 or in central midfield to see if he has a future in one of those roles which I think would suit him better. I don't see Samuel as someone who is going to come back and improve the team given that he hardly set League 1 alight and he has been out for nearly a year. I'd take a look at Nuttall and Brereton during pre season and loan whichever the one that look's least effective out and keep the other as a 3/4 choice striker. Of the current first teamer regulars Williams should be gone he's been given plenty of chances this season but nearly every game has let us down. Smallwood is not up to this level, Bennett a jack of all trades master of none it doesn't seem to matter what position he plays he is ineffective, if we want to progress then we need better than these two who served us well last season but have been found wanting at a higher level this season. Bell I would get rid of if the intention is to play a back 4 next season but if we are going to play 5 at the back then I would keep him as back up. Mulgrew and Evans were two other I considered but I would keep them as back up on the bench unless the budget is big enough to bring players into replace those, which I doubt it will. -
Still miles ahead of Mowbray though.

Two weeks before we play next you’d be hoping we would be working on our shocking fitness and organisation, rather than going off on their jollies. If they had been performing well then fair enough to give them a break but the way we have been playing we should be on the training ground every day between now and Villa addressing serious problems.
-
After a run of 6 points from 10 games Mowbray resigned at Coventry, saying he was an “honourable guy”. We have 4 points from 9 games, so fail to win at Villa and we will see if he is still the same “honourable guy”.

Mowbray simply doesn’t know how to get the best out of Rothwell, like with Palmer he is a flair player who is capable of winning games. Mowbray doesn’t know what to do with those sort of players. He would much rather have someone like Bennett or Smallwood who run around like headless chickens but lack any quality that is going to win you a game. -
If Mowbray is here next season then a relegation battle is inevitable.

Been here over two years and still couldn’t, tell you his best formation. I‘ve never seen a manager change formations so often during a game. You have to wonder what he does during the week as far too often we look underprepared for our opposition and our defence has absolutely no shape or organisation. Bruce has shown what a difference a good manager who organises a defence can make. Tuesday Reed had his best game for a while in his best position and was my man of the match, yet today he is shunted out wide. Bennett and Williams how are they still being selected. Mowbray words about Bennett are exactly the sort of words that show why no major changes will be made in the summer as he has to much loyalty for very average players. As for Rothwell (our best player today) terrible words from Mowbray. Young lads like Rothwell, Raya, Nyambe and Brereton are easy targets to treat badly and publicly criticise. A shame he doesn’t have the bottle to call out some of the older players. Let’s be honest we are hardly if at all any better now than we were under Coyle, despite the millions we have spent. And that is why he simply has to go. Mowbray Out!

I've never heard anything like it we have a under 23's team with players we signed presumably for the first team like Chapman and Davenport, along with promising youngsters like Buckley and Rankin-Costello. His reluctance to use Chapman is getting beyond a joke and I don't believe that he is not fit enough to play at least 30 minutes for the first team. But if Chapman isn't deemed fit enough why would you not put a youngster like Buckely on the bench to give him a taste of first team experience? For someone who was saying a while back he wouldn't be afraid to give youngsters a chance, Mowbray certainly gives that impression, it took 3 centre backs to get injured before Magloire even got in the squad. -
Some interesting stats when Mulgrew hasn't played this season we have 21 points from 10 games. Winning 6, losing just 1, conceding 10 (with 5 coming in 1 game) and keeping 6 clean sheets. In the 27 games Mulgrew has played we have only kept 4 clean sheets 3 of them came in August and the last came on 6th October.
-
What an impact Steve Bruce has had at Sheffield Wednesday, up to 9th and 3 points of the play offs. 17 Points in 9 games with just 4 goals conceded and 6 clean sheets.

Terrible first half but a much better second although it must be said Wigan were a very poor side. I actually thought that we played better when Graham went off as we got the ball down and played which brought Dack more into the game. Magloire looked very composed on debut (you have to wonder why he hasn't been used sooner), Nyambe was solid as well, even Williams did ok although he does struggle when he is pulled out of position, but Wigan only did it a couple times. I thought that Conway and Bennett in the wide roles were poor defensively and ineffective going forward. Reed I thought was fantastic in his best position, (a shame that he has been so criminally under used in it) man of the match tonight for me. Travis got better as the game went on, as did Dack. It is no surprise that Dack looks a better player when Rothwell is on the pitch as not only is he on Dack's wave length but he also gives defenders another creative player to worry about which frees up space for Dack. I'm not sure what more Rothwell has to do for Mowbray to give him a start. Armstrong was disappointing as he has been for most the season bar the month of January. Graham stepped up when needed, a very good penalty and a lovely taken second goal. What Nuttall may lack in quality he makes up for in effort and made a constant nuisance of himself for their back line. All in all a much needed 3 points that must surely all but secure our Championship status for next season. Now let's hope we can kick on and have a good finish to build on for next season. Although there will be much sterner challenges to come than that posed by Wigan tonight.
-
Poor Rothwell always does well when he comes off the bench but never gets rewarded with a start. Yet someone like Bennett is poor week after week but always starts. Hope we are lining up 4 at the back given we are horrendous whenever we line up with a back 3.
-
My back line would be: Nyambe Magloire Travis Bell However Mowbray has to get Bennett into the team somewhere so no doubt he will be at right back. And no doubt Williams will play because like with Bennett the manager has blind faith in him. I think Mowbray's back line will be. Bennett Nyambe Williams Bell

The most worrying thing about the attack on Grealish was the reaction of the Big Club fans behind the goal, celebrating and cheering an assault on a man simply doing his job.
-
Rodwell was injured and Bell apparently hadn't trained most of the week due to illness. So Travis ended up being the sacrificial lamb. Smallwood the worst performer last week kept his place. Bennett who's been next to useless all season was shoehorned into another position, one of a number of players out of position. Williams straight back in, did anyone other than Mowbray think he was a solution? Mulgrew has been poor of late yet continuously his place although that is probably more due to the managers negligence in January. If he isn't ruthless enough to ring the changes after 1 point from 6 games then he won't bet ruthless enough to make them in the summer, he has become to attached to too many players who are not up to standard.
-
I asked though what makes you think that he is going to be ruthless enough to conduct a rebuild when he wasn't even ruthless enough yesterday to ring the changes for a side with 1 point in 6 games.
-
What makes you think that he is going to rebuild even after 1 point from 6 games he wasn't ruthless enough to make changes. He's spent a great deal of money in the summer yet 10 of our starters were here last season and Reed who wasn't will be gone in the summer and when we need a goal for the second week in a row our £7 Million striker stayed on the bench.
-
I don't think Moore can have any complaints with the squad he had at his disposal he was underachieving.
