  1. Watch a shock, Rovers again lagging behind other clubs off the field.
  2. If anyone is offering us any money for him the snap their hands off.
  3. 5 Substitute appearances, 0 starts and he barely made the bench from the middle of February. Come on Chaddy let's not try to rewrite history here.
  4. Only Lenihan of those seven is a Championship defender. Carter, Grayson and Magloire are miles away from being Championship ready and will most likely be out on loan. Williams has never been a centre back for me and Charlie is finished I'm afraid to say. Wharton has excelled for a number of seasons in League 2 and is still young but will have learnt plenty from his loan spells. I'd be looking to sign 2 centre backs and then keep Wharton as the 4th option.
  5. He's only 18 but the young lad Harwood-Bellis is very highly regard much more so that Tosin. Would be a very good signing if we could do it.
  6. My point exactly he wasn't trusted.
  7. Travis wasn't trusted when we were in League 1. So what does that say? For a long time Bennett was trusted at full back over Nyambe. What does that say? Harrison Reed wasn't trusted in the centre of midfield over Evans or Smallwood. What does that say? To me it says that we have a manager who cannot spot talented players when they are right in front of him.
  8. What exactly would you like me offer you? I have already offered you my opinion and my reasons. What more do you want? I've said that I.T. Botham was a fine cricketer and on his day he was a very good player but would I put him in the pantheon of greats of the game, no I certainly would not. I told you for me to be regard as one of the greatest to ever play the game I would say you have to be in and around the top 50 players to ever play the game. You still won't say where your bar is set.
  9. But I wouldn't say he was in the top 10 allrounders ever. Anyway I suppose it comes down to standards and obviously you have a lower bar than me for what qualifies you as one of the greatest. Personally if you are to be called one of the greatest ever to me that say you are in and around the top 50 or so to ever play the game. But perhaps to you if you are in the top 200 or 300 to ever play the game then you regard them as one of the greatest ever.
  10. Really? So you would have above at least 2 of Sobers, Kallis, Miller, Grace, Rhodes & Imran Khan. That's just naming a few who I would place above him as an all rounders. I'd also say Stokes is already a far better player than Botham ever was.
  11. So would you say he is in the greatest 30 players to ever play the game? I'm trying to establish how high or low as the case may be your bar is to be classed as one of the greatest cricketers to ever play the game.
  12. Out of position and didn't get back in for West Brom's goal, let the Wigan player come inside and get his strike away for their second goal. Now get me wrong I think JRC did decently considering he was playing out of position but if that was Bell for those goals he would have rightly been heavily criticised.
  13. If you are going to be classed as one of the games greatest then it stands to reason that your record against some of the games greatest is going to be something you are judged on. And his record against that West Indian team was not great. I don't know where you have got that he was the fastest to 100 test wickets from but you are wrong on that. When you say 'undoubtedly one of the greatest cricketers to ever play the game' what are you meaning by that top 5, top 10, top 20?
  14. Academy players get a lot more leeway from fans on here that's for certain. If Williams had put in performances in like Carter did he would have been slaughtered. If Johnson had given the ball away like Travis did for one of Leeds and Reading's goals he'd have been hammered. If Bell had defended like JRC did at times he'd have taken plenty of flack. As it was none of them got much stick at all on here.
  15. Botham was a very fine player and on his day such as those days at Headingly, Old Trafford and Edgbaston in 1981 he was a very good player. And it is moments like those that conjure up a lot of nostalgia for many people. But is Botham one of the games all time greatest absolutely not. Just look at his record against the West Indies a side who really were comprised of a number of all time greats, it nothing to write home about. A batting average of just over 21 and a bowling average of just over 35.
  16. I'm more than aware of Botham's international stats and I suspect that I have seen a lot more of him play than you have. What I strongly disagree with, is you calling him one of the greatest cricketers of all time. To me when you say one of the greatest I assume you mean in the top 50 to 100 to ever play the game and Botham is no way near that list. For me he wouldn't even make a list of the top 10 all rounders of all time. Nor would he be close to an all time England 11 for me. For a lot people the nostalgia of some fantastic moments that Botham produced clouds their judgement on him.
  17. It's about levels though isn't it Dann's level is premier league and he is a decent premier league centre back. You don't play 10 seasons in the Premiership unless you have something about you. Sadly we didn't see the best of him a Rovers but I think that was due to the players surrounding him. As for Pardew not sure why you call him a clown, he managed for a long time in the top flight and achieved multiple top half finishes including finishing as high as 5th once. So he must know something about the league.
  18. Dann has played 10 seasons in the Premiership under managers such as Sam Allardyce, Alan Pardew & Roy Hodgson whereas at the age of 26 Lenihan has never played above the mid table of the Championship.
  19. Perhaps that is all the club offered him. Mowbray has never been a big fan of him and remember at the time he signed his contract he was considered as 2nd choice behind Bennett.
  20. I thought someone on here said half the squad were on holiday in Spain let's hope they are coming back tomorrow otherwise they shall miss the start of pre season. Personally I don't know why they needed more time off they've only just got back from 3 months off.
  21. We were in and around the peak of the Pandemic when they completed the takeover.
  22. Sheffield Wednesday to start the season on -12 points.
  23. I will occasionally listen to the Sports Bar coming back from a mid week game. But the station isn't what it was. No characters on there anymore like Mike Parry or Mike Dicken (RIP).
  24. Downing is one of the worst culprits for slowing the play down. The system I would play is 4-2-3-1. It's difficult to name a starting line up when I don't know what our squad will be but I would dearly hope that signing a keeper, centre back and a left back are absolute priorities. Personally I think we need 7 new players to have a squad capable of top 6 they are a keeper, centre back x2, right back, left back, central midfield, winger. If we were to do this then my starting 11 would look something like this. New GK Nyambe Lenihan New CB New LB Travis Johnson/New Holtby Dack Rothwell/New Armstrong
  25. Holtby himself has said that is his best role but as we saw last season with Harrison Reed, Mowbray could spot a central midfielder if he was stood right in front of him
