  1. We will need 5 or 6 just to remain where we are now. If we want to be competing for promotion which must surely be the aim next season then we need around 10 players. 5 or 6 players will only just about cover the defence and goalkeepers. I know 10 sounds a lot and it is but that is what is needed and it is a sad indictment of Mowbray's dealings that it is the case but I'm afraid a number of his signings have not been up to standard and he has given players contracts that are too long and that has meant they stay clogging up the wage bill when they should have been moved on as we look to progress to the next level. I look at our current squad and the only players that I think have the ability and more importantly the mentality to be part of a promotion chasing side are Nyambe, Lenihan, Travis, Holtby (if used properly), Downing (as a squad player), Dack and Armstrong. The rest of the squad I would be open to offers for, but sadly as we have seen with Smallwood this season the club has become such a cosy club that players aren't in a rush to leave even when they are not good enough to play.
  2. A stupid decision to only give him a one year extension last year. But that's probably because he was not playing at the time so that Bennett could be shoehorned in at right back.
  3. Just been watching Huddersfield and wondered how on earth we only managed to take 1 point of them. So I watched the highlights of us playing them home and away and imagine my surprise when the reason was Walton and Bennett.
  4. Then why did we bother give Fisher a new 3 year contract at the start of the season?
  5. Would be surprised to see Lee Johnson at Bristol City come the start of next season, the fans have been against him for a while now and they have become stagnant on the pitch.
  6. They can't rate Thompson if at nearly 21 he can't get into the squad when Williams, Bell and JRC are injured. You have to wonder why they gave him a new contract.
  7. He'll put in a few decent performances at the start of next season as he will be after a new contract. He only ever puts together a run of decent performances when he needs a new contract.
  8. Marshall was the keeper I wanted us to sign in the summer when we let Raya go. He was available for free and was exactly what we needed a good solid experienced goalkeeper.
  9. The goalkeeper is quite frankly an embarrassment, he is quite possibly the worst keeper I have seen at Rovers. I didn't rate Raya but he is like Yashin compared to this clown. At both ends of the pitch we have Gallagher and Walton two men over six foot tall yet when the ball is in the air they look about 5 foot. Bennett was appalling as is par for the course with him. You have to wonder what Mowbray see's in him. I appreciate that we have injuries at left back but we all know how hopeless he is especially at full back. Why not give Thompson a game, he's nearly 21 just been given a new contract yet even when Williams, Bell and JRC are injured he still can't make the bench. Why bother giving him a new contract if he is not deemed a better option than Bennett. Gallagher and Brereton are not good enough for this level, pure madness from the manager to not start Armstrong today, we looked more of a threat going forward within 5 minutes of him being on than we had in the previous 65. I'm afraid that this group of players and the manager simply lack the winning mentality for us to make the play offs let alone get promoted. Every time the playoffs are in sight we buckle. If have genuine aspirations for promotion we need some new faces on the pitch and in the dugout. We need some winners, some strong characters in the dressing room to shake things up a bit, Mowbray's comments this week about spending money to keep two players who haven't played a minute this season sums up the cosy club that we currently are.
  10. Fair to say Mowbray could at the very least have phrased this better, given that fans are being asked not to request refunds on their tickets. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18541762.mowbray-not-willing-cast-players-aside-save-quid/
  11. He will be number 2 at Rangers
  12. McLaughlin has signed for Rangers
  13. How much longer can Woodgate keep his job? Boro 3-0 down at half time at home to Swansea.
  14. Every time that Waggott speaks he always gives the impression that he see's supporters as customers rather than fans.
  15. I thought that he was going to resign if they didn't make the playoffs?
  16. Common sense finally prevails in League 2, now lets hope that the top 3 division finally make the sensible decison If you really believe that a vaccine will be ready in 3 months time then I've got a bridge in London going cheap to sell you.
  17. Germany are in a different situation to us for starters they have a competent government who have handled the crisis well. We've had nearly 5 times the number of deaths of Germany and more confirmed cases despite them having a superior testing programme. Also since German clubs have been back training multiple players have tested positive, a whole team is in isolation and the countries R rate is back above one. With a bit of luck the German's might get a couple weeks of football but they won't finish there season.
  18. The clubs might but will the players? Those in the lower leagues maybe willing to take the risk but will the multi millionaire premier league players want to take to risk. Even if in the unlikely event football were to restart it would still be unlikely that it will finish. Look a countries like Iran, China and South Korea where they have had to put some lockdown restrictions back in place after lifting them. Then you have countries like Germany who have lifted the lockdown and are already seeing their R rate now back above one. Coronavirus is no less dangerous now than it was 2 months ago. As for Horse Racing it is completely different to football for starters it is not a contact sport (horse racing that is). Look at France for example horse racing begins there on Monday but football will not begin until September at the earliest.
  19. Sadly I think that it is quiet possible that clubs will go bust but whilst social distancing remains in place I don't see how football can restart. And the CMO said the other day that social distancing is likely to remain for at least the rest of the year.
  20. There is no chance that season will finish. There had barely been any deaths when football was suspended originally since then at least hundred of thousands have been infected by the virus and ten of thousands have died and that is with a lockdown and social distancing in place. The virus is no less of a risk today than it was when football was suspended, to think that the season will finish is pure fantasy.
  21. They can discuss it all they like but the situation regarding Coronavirus is not going to change for the foreseeable future. The only reason a restart is being discussed is that the clubs and the league are terrified about having to give back some of the TV money. If there was no money involved in this then the season would have been cancelled weeks ago as it has been in every league from level 5 downwards. You talk in the corona thread about being sensible and using common sense. Surely anyone with an ounce of common sense can see that there is no way that football can restart in the foreseeable future.
  22. When is this fantasy of finishing the season going to be extinguished, the season should have been ended weeks ago. Anyone with the slightest bit of common sense can see that it is not going to restart and neither should it.
