Wigan Administration
Ewood Ace replied to EgyptianPete's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
This was always likely to happen to Wigan once Whelan left. Pre Whelan they were at their best a mid table 3rd tier side in a rugby town. Thanks to his money they punched above their weight admirably for years but you couldn't help but feel something like this would always happen to them once Whelan went. He's been strongly linked with Celtic. -
Don't get me started on that. Unbelievable.

Wigan Administration
Ewood Ace replied to EgyptianPete's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think he will have better offers than us sadly. He looks an excellent player comfortably the best player on the pitch both times we have played them this season. -
He likes to talk about what an honourable man he is so maybe he will walk. He set a target of 70 points and it is going to be difficult to get that now. Also I think that last night he sounded more than ever before like a man on the edge.
-
Of course he wouldn't but we don't have any characters with his winning attitude and tough mentality. I always remember when Roy was ROI assistant and Robbie Keane's wife had just given birth and they asked Roy if he was available and his response was Why wouldn’t he be? He didn’t have the baby. Unless he’s breastfeeding he should be all right.

12 Points isn't it for administration. Although that is the least of their worries at the moment. -

Confirmed Wigan enter administration. Wow -
Is it just me who hasn't got a cue what a false 9 actually is. It seems to me like another example of Mowbray over complicating things. Just stick a a centre forward through the middle, it's not rocket science.
-
He has certain managed to create some myth for himself. It always staggers me when I hear all these so called experts on TV talking about how Mowbray likes his side play attacking front foot football.
-
Nothing wrong with a long ball Chaddy. The only time Rovers have every really looked effective under Mowbray has been when we have played long ball football into Graham and Dack.
-
The dingles seem to do alright playing it. I know it will most likely be controversial but I'd be quite happy with Pulis.
-
Why is he still playing 4-3-3 when did we ever play that system and look any good?
-
Did they let him down or are they simply not good enough? Personally I look at the 16 players that we used today and feel that only 5 are good enough to play regular Championship football.

Groundhog day. Get Rid of him Now!

I don't rate him but beggars can't be choosers and he is substantially better than Walton or anyone else we have at the club. -
I certain couldn't imagine Sir Alex's most successful captain Roy Keane missing a important game for such a reason.
-
I could just imagine Cloughie's reaction if his captain said to him I can't play today Mr Clough as the wife is going into labour. It's just another example of the soft cosy culture that has set in under Mowbray.
-
And the club captain as well.
-
Chaddy do you really think that we have the slightest plan in place for what we will do when Mowbray goes? If you do then you haven't been paying attention for the last decade.
-
Not particularly. One good game in 5 or 6 is about his limit.
-
Surely we are use to Evans being missing by now.
-
So Armstrong hasn't been starting because he hasn't looked sharp or as dynamic. He looked pretty sharp when he came on against Bristol City and scored. Also Mowbray's been starting Gallagher and Brereton over him when did either of them ever look sharp or dynamic.

They clearly don't see Thompson as anywhere good enough as is evident by the fact that he cannot make then bench even when Williams, Bell and JRC are all injured. Have you not seen enough of Bennett at full back yet to realise that he is not good enough? Buckley needs to go out on loan he is a million miles away from being ready for the Championship. As for Chapman I think it must be quite clear to everyone that the manager does not see him as an option. If he can't make the squad when we have 9 subs and a fair few injuries then when is he going to? If you want to move up the League then you are going to need to improve that midfield. Evans cannot be relied upon, Downing is will be 36, Johnson has ability but is has not looked in shape all season. And Davenport needs to play between now and the end of the season to see if he is capable. I like Graham but come on the bloke is clearly past it, you can almost here him creaking every time he moves. He's only managed 3 goals this season and will be 35 soon, time to move on from him if we want to progress. That leaves us with only Armstrong who can score with any regularity, Brereton has one goal in nearly 2 years and Gallagher isn't much better and also is Gallagher a Striker? The manager does not appear to think so. -

Other sides are not going to sit still though and this has been one of the weakest Championships in years. Yet we still haven't been able to get into the top 6 once all season. Looking at who could come down as well it is certainly going to be a tougher league next season. Also looking at our upcoming games I wouldn't be at all surprised if we finished the season more than 4 points of the playoffs. -

We need two goalies for starters. Two centre backs and a left back as you said. I would argue that we need a right back because as much as I rate Nyambe he is prone to picking up knocks and we know that Bennett is hopeless there. Central midfield needs reinforcing as Downing will be 36, Evans cannot be relied upon, Johnson has shown on occasions that he has ability the ability but has not looked in shape all season. Upfront I'd hope that Graham and Samuel will not be offered new deals. We know that Brereton and Gallagher are not up to it which leaves Armstrong as our only striker who can hit the net with any regularity, so depending on what system we play at least 1 striker is needed. Also I personally would like to see a winger signed so that we have some proper width rather than sticking a 6ft 3 striker out there.
