I really wouldn't pay to much attention to the Peterborough chairman he seems to love publicity and he is certainly fond of his own voice. As for Maddison's attitude I will say to you what I said to someone on here earlier. To go from being released from Newcastle's academy to playing in the National League to 5 years down the line be playing in the Championship takes plenty of hard work. In the National League system or even lower down than that in the Northern Premier or Northwest Counties, there are plenty of talented players who have like Maddison have been released from good academies but very few make it back up the league. To do that takes commitment, hard work and a good attitude. Dack had some of the best stats in League 1 for 3 years but he only got a move to a fellow League 1 side but he has done alright in the Championship. Jamie Vardy was 25 and a half before he played his first game in the football league. There are plenty of reasons for players not getting moves earlier. I know nothing about Maddison but you seem to have a real chip on your shoulder about him for no apparent reason. Why not just give the lad credit for taking a knock back when he was younger and getting himself back up to playing in the second tier.

One of his better efforts last night, he nearly resembled a professional footballer.

I wouldn't pay to much attention to the Peterborough chairman he seems to love publicity and he is certainly fond of his own voice. Maddison has gone from being picked up on a free at a National League team 5 years ago to now being worth £2.5 Million and playing in the Championship. That say's to me that he's got something about him as plenty of talented players in the past have been released from a academy and ended up in the lower leagues and despite having plenty of ability they have not had the mentality to get themselves back up the leagues. I wouldn't judge him too harshly on his performance last night he was playing just his third game in what looked a poor team. I thought Hull were the worst side we played last season and I think they have probably been as well this season. Bowen was what kept them away from the drop zone and they need Maddison to fill that void which is no easy task as I think Bowen was the best player in the division.

A very comfortable win against a very poor Hull side. The only time Hull got the ball in dangerous areas came from us pointlessly passing it around at the back. Travis and Armstrong the stand out performances and pleasing to see Samuel get a goal after what must have been a very difficult 18 months for him. I thought Mowbray played Downing and Bennett on the wrong sides, they have been much better of on their natural side getting balls into the box for Graham. Got 33/1 on Hull to be relegated this morning, they are currently 10 points clear of the drop but if they don't improve on that showing last night then they will be in a relegation battle.

Sheffield United spent less than us last season on transfer fees and they even had a minus net spend last season, as for that matter did Norwich. As for Brentford they have made over £50 Million in player sells over the last 2 seasons whereas Mowbray has been able to keep all his main players and spend money on top of that yet he still hasn't been able to get us ear the playoffs.
-
I would imagine that we have spent more than £14 Million in the last 18 months. Gallagher and Brereton alone is £12 Million. Then Armstrong was £1.75 Million+ add ons, then you have Davenport, Rothwell and Chapman who all cost something. But you say a net spend of £10.5 Million isn't really that high for this division but of the teams that have spent the last two seasons in this division with us only Derby, Stoke and Forest have a higher net spend than that. Infact we are 1 of only 6 clubs who have spent the last 2 seasons in the Championship that have spent more money than we have received.
-
You've been slagging of Maddison because he hasn't ever played above League 1 and now you are classing Wharton as a credible option at centre back even though he spent his career playing in League 2.
-
And we are also only 6 points of 17th and only 1 point of the bottom half. Just 1 point from the last 2 games.

I'm simply highlighting how pointless form tables are as you spin them anyway. The only table that matters is the league table.

January transfer window 2020

I don't know if Maddison would walk into our team but the fact that he has never played at this level does not automatically mean he would not. There are plenty of players who have gone from league 1 and managed to step straight up to the Championship. -
It's irrelevant how many points it would have got us over a season, the simple fact is he was tasked with the job of keeping us up with 15 games to play (32.5% of the season) and he failed. There are clubs who have been in similar or worse situations than 3 points adrift with 15 to play and have manged to stay up. One point from our last 2 games is relegation form.
-
Should have brought a left back in during January. Bell is not good enough for a team with any aspirations of the top 6.

He's been here for over two years now and I'm still trying to figure out what he is good at.

Very poor defending from Tosin to let Mitrovic turn and shoot inside the area. Lazy from Travis as well giving the ball away and standing with his hands on his head rather than chasing back. -
Virtually relegated? We were 3 points from safety with 15 games to go. There are plenty of clubs who have been in that situation that have stayed up, let's not rewrite history and make out that Mowbray took on mission impossible.
-
It's hardly any great achievement that Mowbray has improved our squad given the money he has spent it would have been pretty much impossible not to. The cost of that team at Burton was around 500K in transfer fees Mowbray paid that just for Dominic Samuel. Not to mention that Mowbray has not had to sell any of his key players to balance the books whereas in the year or so before that Burton game all players of any decent value had been sold.
-
6 windows, getting on for £20 Million spent and at least 8 players short, that is perhaps the strongest argument for sacking Mowbray. Also in that time unlike many other clubs in the league he has not had to sell a single one of his key players. Imagine how short our squad will look when the owners decide to cash in on players to balance the books. There can't be many managers in this league over the last 2 seasons who have had the luxury of spending the money Mowbray has and not had to sell any key players.

He's wasted plenty more money besides that as well. He gave Mulgrew a 2 year extension and since that extension began he has played just once. Smallwood was given a year extension and since that year extension kicked in he has played no league games. Davenport has been at the club nearly 2 season now and has made just 2 substitute appearance. Chapman has been here over a year and made just 4 substitute appearances. Sam Hart was signed on a two year deal during those two years he barley played yet he was given another year and this year he hasn't played a single second. Whittingham had to be paid off and that can't have been cheap as I expect he was one of our higher paid players in league 1. Then of course we had Gladwin who spent 2 years injured and yet he then gave him another 6 month contract.- 491 replies

If budget's decided the table then we would have won League 1 at a canter and Sheffield United would still be in the Championship rather than 6th in the Premiership. -

And 6 years before that they finished 14th in league 2. That's what I call progress and we haven't seen any of that since the day Sam was sacked. -

A dreadful performance where it seemed like our only hope was to bore Fulham into accepting a 0-0 but once they scored that was game over, no matter how may 'strikers' we put on. For all the waxing lyrical I keep hearing about Tosin and his passing, I'm afraid he is not much of a defender, pathetic yesterday for the goal to let Mitrovic turn and shot. I thought Travis was poor and seemed to be playing within himself. Didn't like his lack of effort after giving the ball away for the goal, instead of chasing back he just stood with his hands on his head. As for Johnson just over a month ago he was dominating the game against a good Bristol City side from start to finish but since then he was been hopeless. Quite frankly he looks washed up. It took just 2 games for Rankin-Costello to be moved into another position. I though that much like Buckley he looked a boy in a man's game. Lad's like Buckley and Rankin-Costello should have been out playing men's football for the last 12-18 months rather than going straight from under 23's football straight into the Championship. Gallagher is getting worse with each second he plays he is not and never will be a winger. I honestly cannot understand why Mowbray keeps playing him there. The problem is he isn't much of a striker either and certainly not a £5 Million one. Of all the strikers who got on the pitch yesterday I though Graham looked most likely to make something happen. As for Brereton and Samuel you'd have thought they would have been desperate to make an impact but neither looked like they could be bothered. As for the manager it's been clear for 15 months now that he has taken us as far as he can. Sadly though I think he could lose every game between now and the end of the season and as long as we stayed up (which we probably would) then he would still be in a job as the injuries excuse is going to be used time and time again between now and the end of the season. It's incredible that he repeated the same mistakes of last January again this January. -

Results certainly don't seem to matter when it comes to appointing a manager as since Sam's sacking only Lambert had a CV that warranted him getting the job. -

You have more faith in the owners than I do and during their 9 years here they have shown that they are not exactly predictable. Also without promotion that debt is only going in one direction.
